Like someone else wrote, the first half of the movie was actually a fun throwback. Loved the usage of John Daly and Happy's sons. Loved that so many golf legends got cameos as well. I am NOT a movie snob and the original Happy Gilmore is one of my favorites. That said... the entire "Bad Guy Tournament" was just... dumb. Movie threw out everything that made the original great. It was like 2 different movies, and I found myself playing on my phone.

40 minutes in, and this was looking very good. Similar beats to the original, with great cameos and multiple laughs. Sandler eases back into Happy like it's 1996, and familiar faces are everywhere.
But suddenly, things take a wild turn, and we are stuck in a bonkers sequel with no semblance of reality or cohesion. It is so bonkers that much of the last hour is indescribable.
Essentially Happy needs to raise money again to send his daughter to ballet school. He has to return to golf, which is being hijacked by a gingivitis addled fruit loop with grand plans to turn golf into MTV x XFL.
I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised early on, particularly with Happy's hilarious buffoon sons. Unfortunately, we are left with another Zoolander 2 style debacle. 5/10.

The first Act is a depressing collection of cameos, including his entire immediate family, wife and two daughters. One of them goes all Sophia Coppola and has a major recurring role. You know that is not a good sign. The second Act is the Happy Gilmore we all came to see and it's great. The comeback montage / Rocky style tribute to Carl Weathers, his first time back on the real golf course, all the call backs and the new schtick, and now the cameos are fun. But then.......the WTAF third Act. "Regular" golf v Maxi golf was just stupid. Not Happy Gilmore silly, just stupid. And it ruined the whole thing.

I was actually quite looking forward to this and to be fair, it starts off pretty well. Loads of nostalgic references, a few funny slapstick moments that definitely felt familiar, and in a good way at first.
But yeah... it didn't really bring anything new to the table. Most of it relies on old jokes, random cameos, and throwing in a bunch of YouTubers. Not terrible, just kind of predictable. You can tell they weren't really trying to reinvent anything just giving fans more of what they remember.
That said, the nostalgia is still there. It was fun overall. I laughed a few times, had a decent time watching it, but it was never going to live up to the original. Still, worth a watch if you're a fan of the first one just keep your expectations in check.

I said, "so stupid," several times while watching Happy Gilmore 2. But I was laughing while I said that. So I can't even be mad at it. Comedy is subjective and some people will see this stupidity and cringe or roll their eyes. But it made me laugh repeatedly. And that's all I really care about with comedies.
Aside from the humor, so much about this movie shouldn't work. It's what people criticize as the problem with sequels and reboots these days. There is a huge focus on nostalgia and recreating moments from the original. There are tons of cameos and callbacks.
I can't explain why, but these usual problems somehow feel like they belong. Maybe it's the era this harkens back to. It doesn't feel forced even though it absolutely is.
I can't say this is a good movie, but in an age of comedy movie extinction, I had a good time with it.

Happy Gilmore is a '90s Adam Sandler classic I've always enjoyed. It's dumb, quotable, and endlessly rewatchable. Naturally, I was a bit skeptical going into Happy Gilmore 2, worried that Sandler's more recent comedic style might clash with the tone of the original. And in some ways, that's exactly what happened. While I didn't dislike this sequel, it definitely feels like a very different movie, tonally, structurally, and humor-wise.
The film opens with Happy in a drunken slump, with his golf career long behind him. When his daughter expresses a dream of attending dance school, he decides to return to the sport in hopes of funding her future. It's a sweet enough premise, but the first ten minutes quickly flip that setup on its head in ways I won't spoil. The plot choices are a bit odd, but the movie earns some goodwill with consistent, if not groundbreaking, laughs. It's not nearly as sharp or funny as the original, but I found myself chuckling and eye-rolling in equal measure.
Where Happy Gilmore 2 really falters is in its overuse of nostalgia. Flashbacks, legacy characters, celebrity cameos, recycled jokes, and mirrored scenes bog things down. That said, a few callbacks do land and feel earned. The movie also tries so hard to appeal to a modern audience that it occasionally slips into absurdity. Benny Safdie plays Frank Manatee, a new rival character, and while I liked the performance, the storyline surrounding him goes completely off the rails. The climax, in particular, felt like something straight out of a video game. Loud, flashy, and wildly over-the-top.
Still, it's clear Sandler had fun making this, and his energy is infectious at times. Christopher McDonald returning as Shooter McGavin is a highlight, though his subplot takes some weird turns. Honestly, everything about this sequel is weird. It's darker, stranger, and only loosely connected to what made the original so beloved. Despite its flaws, there's just enough here to have a halfway decent time. Happy Gilmore 2 is now streaming on Netflix.

The movie felt like a true follow up to the original for the first 20 or 30 minutes and I was excited to see where it would go, but it pretty quickly fell apart and degenerated into an aimless and unfunny mess as the film went on, starting with the golf course scene with the 3 millennials, all the jokes were awful and the whole sequence was total cringe.
It's like they had a vague idea of what to do but then lost the plot (literally) as time went on, only to finally bring it back around again at the very end of the movie. So much of the cameos were painfully unfunny and poorly acted, they should've done a lot more takes to make them work better and not feel so amateurish and lazy. I couldn't understand a damn thing Bad Bunny said. The pacing felt rushed and unnatural like so many modern Hollywood films, they've lost that magic touch especially when it comes to comedy films.
Sandler's a great dude in real life and I'll give it to him that he does justice to all the original cast who passed away at the end, which is exactly what I expected from him. But most of the middle of the movie is terrible and ruins it, the whole "super golfers" plot was cartoonish and mostly unfunny. If the script had got some rewrites for better jokes, plot, pacing, etc. It could've been one of the best legacy sequels, but alas we are left with this half baked mess.

The first Half is Quite Good...then it turns in to a kids tv show with sound and graphics for children. Did Adam Sandler run out of money too? I much More enjoy an oldschool production than Some pixelmovie. No this do not impress me...The sidestorys is to weak and do not contribute much. No this Could have been better. Last part of the movie did not raise any laughs.

Happy Gilmore 2 fails to recapture the charm of the original. Instead of fresh humor or energy, we're left with a sluggish, predictable story that drags from start to finish. The jokes feel outdated and forced, rarely landing, and the film leans too heavily on recycled gags that simply don't work anymore. What was once quirky and fun now feels tired and uninspired. In short: slow, boring, and nowhere near funny.

First and foremost hopefully people realize that Adam Sandler has nothing left to prove to anyone. His success and reputation speak for themselves and at this stage of his career he can make a movie about anything he wants and have whoever he pleases in it.
Anyway, after reading some of the negative reviews I wondered what people were really expecting? Did they see the first movie? Bizarre moments, crude humor and goofy cameos were staples of the original and were of course represented in abundance here.
As for the cameos, it's not just incredible the people that Sandler can get to be in his movies, but the things he gets those people to say and do are amazing. From a cameo perspective this is possibly his greatest achievement yet! They were many, and they were awesome.
Also I guarantee that the current generation of pro golfers in this movie all grew up watching Happy Gilmore. How exciting was it for them to be in this? Probably a dream come true for some.
Sequels are always tricky and basically never outshine the original. This movie is no exception but it is absolutely worth the watch.

I just watched Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix
I love the first movie (it's my favourite Sandler movie), and I have been cautiously optimistic for this one.
And it was a massive let down. After a serious WTF moment in the first three minutes and the following ten minutes, where we see all Happy achieved in the first movie undone, there are not a lot of laughs. In fact I don't think I laughed once. I smiled a couple of times, but that was it.
Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald and Ben Stiller all return (with varying amounts of screen time) as do a host of people from the first movie, Sandler regulars and some pro golfer's
Adam Sandler's daughter, Sunny Sandler, plays Happy's daughter Vienna, his wife plays her dance teacher, his other daughter Sadie Sandler plays someone Happy meets at an A. A meeting, Haley Joel Osment and Margaret Qualley are also here
It relies a lot on nostalgia, with plenty of flashbacks and callbacks. The new Happy place made me smile, I wasn't bored and it was nice to spend time with some of the characters again and I enjoyed what they did with Shootst, but overall this was a let down. I wanted to like it, so much more.

This was the worst movie I have ever watched. The plot was shallow, the humor felt forced, and the characters were irritating rather than entertaining. It felt like a complete waste of time from start to finish. I honestly don't understand why Netflix supports or promotes such a poorly made film.!!!!

I went into this not expecting much but just to enjoy the characters. It was actually funny and brought back so many funny memories of the original. I really enjoyed the cameos, and of course, the music. It's definitely worth a watch, even if it's for the nostalgia. If you're an Adam Sandler fan, you'll enjoy it.

This is a difficult movie to review. There is a nostalgia factor and the first movie was fun. I don't watch movies that are rated less than 6. That is why I chose that rating for this movie. It's not bad, it just isn't something I'll ever watch again. There were definitely moments that were funny but probably more misses than hits. The story was hard to follow and the pace was all over the place. It's worth spending an evening on if you're bored.

Having watched Happy Gilmore 2 I thought it was alright, if the first movie is a 7 then this is nowhere near that, even a 6.5 seems a bit high, i fould myself disinterested a lot, there were a few funny moments, the eminem cameo was amusing, overall though it was very meh with glimmers of haha, if you like the original then you'll enjoy the flashbacks and the reprise of the old characters, it was alright, that's as good as I can give it.

Well not as good as the original (and I knew it wouldn't)... be happy Gilmore 2 is a solid sequel. It has its usual over the top Sandler stuff.. however doesn't go full (enter quote from Tropic Thunder here) like Grown Ups 2... I loved what they did with Happys character.. having him hit rock bottom only to get up because those he loves needed him to. That stayed true to the Happy Gilmore I grew up with... so I'm giving Happy Gilmore 2 a solid rating of 7/10.
Also, Sandler was great... however Christopher McDonald steals the show as Shooter McGavin.

Happy Gilmore 2 has some genuinely great moments, though at times it feels a bit over the top. The sequel excels at tapping into nostalgia, with a large portion of the movie referencing the first film. For viewers who haven't seen the original recently-or at all-watching it beforehand is essential, as many of the jokes rely heavily on familiarity with the first movie.
Some callbacks are executed brilliantly, offering laughs that both entertain and reward longtime fans. However, the film occasionally tries too hard to incorporate every major joke from the original, which can feel forced. Another issue is the sheer silliness of the sequel. While the first film balanced comedy with a coherent story and some heartfelt moments, this one leans almost entirely into slapstick. Even scenes that attempt a more serious tone-like Happy trying to secure money for his daughter's dance school-are immediately undercut by absurd humor, like involving John Daly's math mishaps or chaotic fights between his kids , which happen far too frequently to maintain comedic impact.
Where the movie shines is in its cameos. Golf fans, in particular, will be thrilled, as the film features nearly every notable figure in the sport-short of Tiger Woods-playing both small and large roles. This speaks volumes about Happy Gilmore's status within the golfing community and is easily the biggest home run of the film.
Overall, Happy Gilmore 2 delivers what fans likely should have expected. There are moments that provide a decent laugh and bursts of nostalgia, albeit occasionally overwhelmed by forced jokes and relentless silliness.

I've been a fan of Adam Sandler for almost 30 years and this movie was one of the worst I've ever seen. Just watch part 1 because all the jokes are the same but they were at least funny in the first one. I can't recall one single joke that wasn't in the first movie.
This is unwatchable just like other comedy sequel disasters. Think Anchorman 2, Joe Dirt 2, Zoolander 2. All terrible and this one is too.

I love Adam Sandler. Will always rewatch the classic original, but not this one. The whole movie was basically either flashbacks or unnecessary cameos. I could tell the people weren't actors, but I didn't have a clue who most of them were, so the inside jokes about them fell totally flat for me. This would've been fine once or twice, but it felt like half the movie. The rest was filled with callbacks to the original, which again would've been fine if it didn't make things feel so disjointed.

Eh. It was trash. I'm glad I didn't pay $25 to go to the movies to see that rubbish. There was no real humor at all but the movie sure had lots of sadness & depression & alcoholism & death in substitution of humor.
It was barely even just ok.
No wide release here, just right to Netflix...
Seemed rushed and not well written. Just another boring money grab. I'm glad they spent money on all the cameos so the horrid Sandler family "acting" wouldn't stand out lol
Other than Chris McDonald there were not any actors, just people (including the entire Sandler family) reading lines, poorly. Nepotism at its worst or best, depending how you look at it.
At a time when there's nothing good to watch it was still painful to watch.
Very Sad how far off the mark Coming to America 2 & Happy Gilmore 2 were.
Shameful.

Not as bad as Jack and Jill.
Not nearly as good as Happy Gilmore.
John Daly is a treasure and hands down the best cameo shortly followed by Will Zalatoris.
Confused with the similarities of PGA v LIV yet Bryson and crew seem to play for the PGA?
Unlikely to be rushing to watch it again but was a nice way to remember the days of old.
