First of all i am so happy to see a movie like that from my country. In many ways i can say it is a good one , like cinematography, cast , ambiance, decor and costumes. It Is totally suitable for the period drama. Big congratulations for producers and director but when we turn back to movie , there are some problems , for instance; conversations . There are some conversations that totally unnecessarily, ok also as a period movie, writer wanted to stick to language but again for me unnecessary. A little long by the way, i couldn't finish in a day. I watched in 2 parts and final was not good for me. I didn't understand Kenan's character at the end actually. Anyway final words about movie ; good intention, not perfect but it is ok not 10 nor 1 , by the way book edition is also good , because writer of the book is one of the best for his century..i loved lots of scenes. Main characters are really good , watchable without high expectations.
The film was technically successful. The set design, costumes, and locations were carefully chosen. Both its cinematography and sound design were excellent. It was a type of horror film we are not accustomed to seeing in Turkish cinema. The only aspect I found lacking was the somewhat unnatural use of Ottoman Turkish.
In terms of storytelling, it was highly satisfying. Unlike traditional Turkish horror films, I appreciated how the paranormal events were resolved rationally rather than through so-called spiritual healers. The unexpected ending, where the veil of ignorance was lifted in a Freudian manner, was a pleasant surprise. I can't provide further details to avoid spoilers.
I hope we see more films like this in the future. Kudos to everyone involved!

"Cadi" stands out as a rare gem in Turkish cinema, skillfully blending horror, mystery, and suspense to present a captivating narrative.
Set in Istanbul during the final years of the Ottoman Empire and adapted from a classic novel penned by the renowned author Huseyin Rahmi Gurpinar in 1912, the film successfully captures the somber and eerie atmosphere of the era.
With Buse Meral's portrayal of the brave Fikriye and Furkan Andic's versatile depiction of the character Nasit Nefi, the film offers a visually striking and thematically rich experience. Director Erman Bostan's adept handling of the material has earned praise from both critics and actors alike. In an environment often dominated by formulaic horror films, "Cadi" shines as a beacon of originality and quality, deserving the attention and support of audiences. Its success not only enriches Turkish cinema but also underscores the importance of supporting diverse and innovative cinematic endeavors.
Overall, "Cadi" is a standout production among ordinary horror films and is worth supporting to preserve the diversity and quality of Turkish cinema.

Spectacular cinematography and colour use, camera angles added details to storytelling and inspirations from famous paintings really made this movie very visually appealing. Acting was good, especially the main female character. The language of the movie is as clean as it could be since the novel it's based on had even heavier language, it created a good balance between modern and ottoman language but i would personally prefer if they had even heavier language for authenticity. I love how the story is changed into an individual and focused on mental challenges which created depth and a different perspective of writer/director in a very artistic way. It is a great psychological thriller but on a slower pace, the only thing i would change would be the pace or the length of the movie because it already creates a mystery and unease without needing a slow pace. Either way, quality, artistry and execution need to be appreciated. Not an average popcorn movie.
The 2024 witch-themed film had great potential, but unfortunately, it squandered it completely. First of all, the acting is extremely weak; the characters lack depth, and even in emotional scenes, they fail to be convincing. It feels as if the actors are reading the script for the first time.
Visually, the film is a huge disappointment. There was an attempt to create a dark and gothic atmosphere, but the result is amateurish scenes and poor lighting. The effects are far from what you would expect in 2024, looking artificial and unpolished.
The script had the potential to be a good horror or thriller film, but due to poor dialogue and sluggish storytelling, it fails to engage the audience. In the end, it's a movie that could have been promising but turns out to be nothing more than a waste of time.
