Ok, viewers are not stupid. In what planet does a woman find a lost sister who is 40 years younger? How about 10 years or even 15. I had trouble watching it after this reveal. And of course we must be politically correct with diversity out the ying Yang. We have an indigenous, Hispanic, OCD , and I sure a trans person will show up. I say ditch the sister and do a sitcom that makes sense . Reba was a bit too manic on the first episode and Melissa is working her groove. Rex Lind seems lost . But I will continue to watch for now and hope the producers change the list sister bit . It just does not work .
Wouldn't normally rate this a 10-prob a 7-but I felt the need to balance out the "Reba's too old and her sister is too young, couldn't happen" low reviews. Examples for people: Larry King's oldest biological kid (Larry King Jr) is 63; his youngest is 24. Al Pacino has a 35 year old daughter and a baby who will be 2 in June. Robert De Niro's oldest is 57 years old; his youngest just happened to turn 2 today (April 6). If I would have had a kid with my husband anytime during the last 20 years we've been married, they would be 45+ years younger than the kids he has now. (too bad y'all can't reply bc there are always lots of questions lol.) Obv my point is that it doesn't deserve a low rating bc of the age difference between the sisters. It's a fun, entertaining show. Is it the best sitcom ever? Of course not. Is it a good way to waste a Sunday? Of course.
As a fan of the original Reba (currently rewatching), this falls short. Aside from Reba and the half-sister, there was nothing here to make me care about the other characters - unlike the first episode of Reba where you got a feel for the dynamic of all the characters right away - the writing made the large cast work in a good way. This didn't happen here with a smaller cast.
I love the interaction between Melissa Peterman and Reba and I wish one of the networks or streaming services would give her a show like the old variety shows in the 70s, Carol Burnett, for example. She could sing, act and there's be a place for Melissa to let her comedic talent shine.
I wish them luck with the show but it's a half hour of my week I'm not going to waste.

I have watched 3 episodes so far and getting through them has been an effort. I wanted so much to love this show because I love Reba and Melissa Peterman is always a joy, but even they cannot elevate this show past mediocre. The writing is average and the acting among most of the characters is mediocre. Aside from Peterman and Rex Lynn, the other characters are listless and boring. The two guys, Steve and Takota, are bland and uninteresting. And I feel the character of Isabella has been horribly miscast. Isabella is annoying in her effort to waltz in and try to change everything and worse, this character is not acted or played all that well by Escobedo. There is just no dynamic or chemistry between her and Reba's character. I think this would have played much better had they made Peterman the step-sister. Every scene with Reba and Peterson sparkles. That is the chemistry they should have played up.
Sadly, I don't see this getting a second season if they don't fix the issue that are holding this show back from being as good as it could be. I hope they do.

Well I was excited when I found out about the new show. I just watched the pilot, and I enjoyed it with my 15-year-old daughter (she loves Reba). I don't understand the comparison to Cheers or Friends, I loved both of those shows but this is a different time. It's not supposed to be anything like either of those. Reba has her own style and her shows can be watched by young and old. Watch it and see what you think. By the way the sitcom Reba was hilarious! We still watch the reruns and laugh out loud! I'm looking forward to Happys Place getting better with each episode. We will be watching every week.
