This would be an amazingly beautiful story as fiction. But we're living it. That makes it phenomenal and personal. This movie gives a great feeling of just how unique this American Experiment is - an also how fragile. And also provides important clues on how we might preserve it. This is our country's history compellingly told. It is long and packed with information and concepts. Would serve well in any serious American history curriculum. But you may want to be prepared to break it into shorter bits for elementary school children. Every American of every stripe and any age would get something powerful by watching this movie. Don't miss the opportunity to share it with someone you love.
The American Miracle: Our Nation Is No Accident is a docudrama that tells the compelling story about the founding of the United States, and the role of Providence during the American Revolution.
Directed by Timothy Mahoney and inspired by Michael Medved's bestselling book, the film arrives just ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
With an impressive acting cast alongside historians like Joseph Ellis and Robert P. George, the movie blends top-quality historical reenactments with scholarly commentary to argue that America's rise was no accident but a product of divine providence.
The film entails a sweeping scope, covering key moments from the Revolutionary War to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. It centers on George Washington, portraying him as a figure miraculously spared from death multiple times-such as surviving smallpox in his youth and escaping assassination attempts during the French and Indian War. These stories, drawn from Medved's book, are dramatized with high production values, featuring lush cinematography and detailed period costumes shot on location across the U. S. and even at Washington's home, Mount Vernon.
The reenactments, particularly Washington's leadership at Valley Forge and the crossing of the Delaware, are engaging and emotionally stirring. Benjamin's Franklin's appeal to prayer at the constitutional convention is very moving.
The inclusion of scholars adds intellectual weight, with figures like Akhil Reed Amar, Robert George, and Joseph Ellis offering insights into the improbability of America's success against the British Empire. The film's emphasis on lesser-known stories, like Elizabeth Freeman's legal battle for freedom inspired by the Declaration of Independence, highlights the broader impact of revolutionary ideals. The film seems to counter balance some recent alternative historical takes that have risen in recent years. This is refreshing.
The movie's message of courage, sacrifice, and divine purpose is uplifting, and its call to reflect on America's founding principles feels timely as the nation approaches its semiquincentennial.
The American Miracle is an inspiring film and true to history. It is well worth watching and sharing with friends.

This film was a pleasure to watch on the big screen! It is only in theatres June 9th, 10th, and 11th (2025) thru Fathom Events. It is a little long, but it moves along rather well. It is not action packed or jaw dropping, but the information it portrays thru reenactments is very interesting. I was fascinated by all the times George Washington escaped death. For instance, when he was the only officer on horseback to survive a battle before the Revolutionary War. 70 officers were on horseback, 69 were shot and killed. He was the only one who wasn't. Wow! His uniform was shot 4 times, and his hat was shot once. I was also very impressed with the portrayals of the writing of the Constitution. It is amazing how it almost didn't occur!
Excellent Film - it takes an unbiased look at the events that lead up to the declaration of Independence and ultimately the writing of the Constitution. It is an interesting mix of drama and history - bringing in scholars of American history to add details and facts that are not often presented in American history classes. The reenactments of some of the battles and incidents during the confrontation with the British are amazing. I found it interesting to see how the founding fathers worked through their differences and were able to draft a Constitution that still stands today. It is well worth seeing even if you are not a history buff.
Having my degree in History and Political Science this film was a huge disappointment. Yes we declared our independence from a sovereign King who used God's word to control us and we declared our independence from that type of religion for our country were every person has the right to free speech and free to follow whatever their religious believe is. Many of our founding fathers were not religious and had many different interpretations of His word. This is definitely a propaganda film to portray our founding fathers as only Christian who were united in that belief. My suggestion to actually open books and really study our history from those in power and those who were common citizens.
