The series is loosely inspired on the life of María Mestayer de Echagüe, Marchiss of Parabere (1877-1949). Married in 1901 to lawyer Ramón Echagüe Churruca, María realized that due to his work he preferred to eat in the Bilbaine Society Club instead home. Fueled to get that his husband eat in home, she study cookery reading articles in press and visiting restaurant to learn the different menus and recipes. Her friendship with important cooks at the time, who helped to experiment with different food and tastes, and the revolutionary time of Bilbao in the 20s and 30s allowed María to turn into cook teacher and writer. María gave lessons in different catholic institutions and she written seven books between 1930 and 1947.
The two seasons were broadcast back to back due to their low ratings.
