And here we have a short subject that didn't need to be animated, and makes no use of animation to offer the audience something that live-action would struggle to provide. Why use animation, which in all its forms is more expensive than live-action? There are a couple of funny incidents, but mostly the three brothers seem annoyed and annoying rather than funny. Still, you could say that about the Three Stooges, and I often have. As an Oscar-nominated animated short, I expect better of the Academy than this. Was there nothing more suitable to bring the nominations up to 5 in number?
