'Bariau' is Welsh for 'Behind Bars'. It is also a play on the name of the character Barry Hardy.
The prison interior scenes were filmed at ARIA FILM STUDIOS and also Coleg Menai, both in Llangefni, Ynys Môn.
Although not officially a spin-off of Rownd a Rownd (1995), Gwion Tegid plays the same character, Barry Hardy, on both shows.
