The war between the land and the sea is unlike any doctor who episode in a lot of ways. Apart from the odd unnecessary mention, it's totally separated, and that's a good thing.
To me this just feels like any other BBC drama but that's okay. The first 2 episodes have been fine, interesting enough but nothing amazing, equally tho I don't have a bad thing to say about it. The special effects and visuals are very good, the characters are decent and the story is okay. Given there is only 5 episodes, this seems it will end up just being another decent BBC drama to stick on when you're bored, but that's okay!
Overall from the doctor who universe this could be a lot better and a lot more interesting, but as a generic bit of telle it does the job, and it's nicely relevant to the modern day without feeling forced. Happily looking forward to seeing more.

Yes it's cheesy, yes it's obvious, IT'S Dr Who!!
Dr who essentially is and always has been a kids TV show Russell Tovey does a fairly decent job, his supporting cast are so with the special effects being a step up from the usual, I thought I'd give it 10 minutes and ended up watching 2 episodes Pure escapism early evening TV that the whole family can watch Give it a go.

Four episodes in, the 2nd batch is a bit slow and expected. More of a 5/10, if you want to rally adults to the Doctor Who mindspace (It's no Torchwood !), but very good for kids. EDIT : Episode 5 delivers ! It's bittersweet but well-paced and intriguing = good. 8/10
I'm looking forward to watching the conclusion. It's been very moral, as always, providing us all with endless subjects of debate about humans through ONE of great urgency.
It insists on "everyday people" making rational choices RIGHT NOW if they care at all for their grandchildren. It also shows how people are duped and pitted against the greater good in the interest of the few, while being told the opposite.
Typical "end of the year" british gift. Me likey !

After watching only two episodes so far I'm really enjoying it. Those who knock it are only thinking about their required standards of entertainment in my view. I think that the environmental message is far more important and this is a very good way of getting it across. OK, so nothing's probably going to change, but it certainly highlights how pathetic we humans are at managing our planet. I won't be missing a minute of the remaining episodes.
I'm really surprised by the negative reviews. Science Fiction has always been a commentary on the modern day. Some interesting ideas here and it feels like Torchwood. The question in the background seems to be "Can humans be better even when the doctor isn't around?" It'll be interesting to see how the story unfolds.
