Edge of Heaven

Love the light comedy!! Only one season????? Just watching on US, any chance there's another season out there?

This recently became available on BritBox and I thought I'd give it a try. I like Marcia Warren and Adrian Scarborough. The first episode was amusing enough for me to recommend it to family members. I became more and more disenchanted as the episodes went on. I had to stop watching in episode three when it just got too ridiculous. I finally geared myself up to continue watching to see how far I'd be able to get. Not very far. In order to maintain whatever sanity I have left, I had to call it quits in episode four. While there are some amusing parts, "Alfie" is a spineless main character who deserves anything bad that comes his way!

I really enjoyed this series. Not sure why it didn't continue. It was very funny and entertaining. Loved all of the characters.

And the most you can say about this show is that it's not dark. But that's about it. There are some good comic actors here, and the lead is charming and sweet, but the scripts are about as flat and basic as flat and basic can be. Maybe one or two laughs in each show. However, again, at least it's all upbeat and cheery. Which is maybe worth 5 stars.

The premise of the seaside B&B had potential, yet it was never mined. The characters were cute cliches - who were never funny. The show was not unpleasant, but it missed the funny consistently. Disappointing.
