Supergirl Casts 24 Vet Carlos Bernard as Maggie's [Spoiler] in Season 3
David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Jesse Rath, Azie Tesfai, Melissa Benoist, Katie McGrath, and Nicole Maines in Supergirl (2015)
Supergirl is staging what may be a very awkward and intense family reunion.

24 alum Carlos Bernard will guest-star during Season 3 of the CW series as Maggie Sawyer’s father, TVLine has learned.

RelatedSupergirl Ep Discusses Floriana Lima’s Status, How It Might Affect ‘Sanvers’

Like his daughter, Bernard’s Oscar Rodas is also a cop. It was revealed last season that Maggie grew up in a very conservative family that did not approve of her being a lesbian. After she was outed, Maggie and her parents got in a big fight, which resulted in the teen getting kicked out...

Supergirl Ep Discusses Floriana Lima's Status, How It Might Affect 'Sanvers'
David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Jesse Rath, Azie Tesfai, Melissa Benoist, Katie McGrath, and Nicole Maines in Supergirl (2015)
Fans of Supergirl‘s Alex/Maggie pairing probably won’t sense a downtick in the latter’s presence, even though Floriana Lima has stepped down to recurring status for Season 3.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday, after uberproducer Greg Berlanti partook in CW Seed’s uberemotional Everwood cast reunion, TVLine asked if Lima’s new status would be perceptible to viewers.

“I don’t think so,” he answered, noting: “Any character people love is not there as much as people want them there. [But] from my perspective, we...

Claire Danes in Homeland (2011)
‘Homeland’: An Ode to Rupert Friend’s Quinn After a Divisive Finale
Claire Danes in Homeland (2011)
[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “Homeland” Season 6, including the finale which aired Sunday night.]

Peter Quinn died as he lived: charging headfirst into a mess created by Carrie Mathison, saving her and killing himself in the process. As infuriating as it sounds at the onset, Quinn’s death in the Season 6 finale of “Homeland” fit because it mirrored his mentality so well. Quinn spent much of his time on “Homeland” ignoring his own well-being in order to protect Carrie’s, dating all the way back to when he refused to kill Brody because Quinn knew doing so would hurt her. That’s why driving kamikaze-style into a hail of gunfire, with Carrie crouching behind him, is as apt an ending as it is tragic, maddening, and final.

We wanted more for Quinn, but it always felt like too much to hope for, especially after his near-death in Season 5. While some may believe he should’ve been put out of his misery then, Season 6 clarified...

Russos Talk Spidey & Hydra In "Civil War"
Filmmaker Joe Russo has spoken a bit more about Tom Holland's Spider-Man who makes his first appearance in "Captain America: Civil War". The main aim with this take on the character seems to be accentuating his authenticity and youth. He tells ComicBook.com:

"We took a very personal approach to the character. We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility.

That really differentiates him from every other character in the Marvel universe as opposed to other superheroes. The previous films had adults playing a high schooler. We wanted more of an authenticity to the casting. We were very specific about that."

Speaking a bit more about the Spider-Man character, Anthony Russo told press this week (via Youtube...

The Russo Bros. Explain How Spider-Man Is Different in Captain America: Civil War
We have yet to see what directors Joe and Anthony Russo have planned for Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. I’m personally excited to see what his costume is going to look like, but while we wait for that, ComicBook.com conducted an interview with the directors, and they offered up some thoughts and details on Spider-Man and how he is going to be different from any other version of the character.

They were asked if we would see what Spider-Man looks before the movie is released in theaters. Anthony said that they couldn’t comment on it, and Joe added:

“Part of making these movies is maintaining surprise so that everybody's excited and that's one we're going to make fans surprised.”

They went on to offer some information on Tom Holland’s version of the character and how it will be different from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s version of the superhero.

Russo Brothers: New Spidey Will Be Different than the Others
The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is largely absent these days.

With a cameo in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” and its untitled solo movie, nothing is seen for Spidey in toys, teaser trailers or even photos online.

Comicbook.com caught up with Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of “Captain America: Civil War,” ahead of their appearance at WizardWorld New Orleans this weekend.

“We took a very personal approach to the character. He was my favorite character growing up, so the opportunity to bring Spider-Man to the screen is a dream come true. It's something that I spent a lot of time thinking about as a kid. We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility. That really differentiates him...

Tobey Maguire in El hombre araña (2002)
Marvel's 'Spider-Man' Reboot Will Be Realistic and Grounded
Tobey Maguire in El hombre araña (2002)
When the trailer for Captain America: Civil War debuted in November, some were disappointed that it didn't include our first official look at the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Back in February 2015, Marvel finally struck a deal with Sony Pictures to include the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with his debut coming in Captain America: Civil War. While we wait for our first official glimpse of the new Spidey, Captain America: Civil War directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo spoke with ComicBook.com, with Joe Russo revealing how this version of the iconic wall-crawler is so different from previous incarnations.

"We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility. That really differentiates him from every other character in the...

Interview: Charlie Kaufman is Animated About ‘Anomalisa’
Chicago – Charlie Kaufman is one of the most inventive and creative minds in film – he has written “Being John Malkovich,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Adaptation.” He recently teamed up with an animation director, Duke Johnson, to produce an unusual and contemporary stop-motion film, “Anomalisa.”

The use of stop motion in “Anamolisa” is much more poignant and philosophical than any other of these types of animated films before it. There is a customer service expert named Michael Stone (voice of David Thewlis), who experiences his life as mind-numbing sameness. Every man and woman sounds exactly the same (voice of Tom Noonan), until he meets a nebbish convention attendee named Lisa (Jennifer Jason Leigh). The film is a meditation on how life, at times, can be a mystery that needs to somehow be unlocked. The world can spin the same on a daily basis, yet there are those nuggets of consequence that exist,...

‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’: Exploring the darkness of the ‘Shadow of Revan’
Warning: Contains spoilers on the Jedi Knight class story, the Revan novel, the Forged Alliances expansion and the Shadow of Revan expansion (including Ziost).

The story of Revan has got to be one of the best stories in the Star Wars video games, and in the Original Expanded Universe of the Old Republic. Delivered to us by none other than Bioware and LucasArt, Shadow of Revan presents a return to this great character and an introduction to new characters who are just as rich and roundly developed, with story lines that have more depth than “run around this planet and run around that planet, while you forget parts of the story because you’re trying to gain levels.”

You see, as far as I’m concerned, most of the storylines in Sw:tor thus far have been quite linear despite the various Light Side or Dark Side choice options, since it...

Paid Mods For The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Removed From Steam Workshop
Amidst the recent controversy surrounding paid mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, both Valve and Bethesda have issued statements justifying their recent decision to remove them from Steam Workshop.

Valve were the first to open up communications, stating the following on their blog:

“We’re going to remove the payment feature from the Skyrim workshop, for anyone who spent money on a mod, we’ll be refunding you the complete amount. We talked to the team at Bethesda and they agree. We’ve done this because it’s clear we didn’t understand exactly what we were doing. We’ve been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they’ve been received well. It’s obvious now that this case is different.”

Not only has Valve promised to supply refunds for all those who spent money on the mods,...

Cinedigm acquires 'A Brave Heart'
Sara Hirsh Bordo
The distributor has acquired North American theatrical, digital and home entertainment rights to the 2015 SXSW documentary spotlight audience award winner.

Sara Hirsh Bordo’s film charts the life of Velasquez, a 26-year-old born with a disease that stops her gaining weight who defied cyber bullying to become a human rights activist.

A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story will get a theatrical release in October followed by ancillary platforms and a presentation on Cinedigm’s Docurama digital network in early 2016.

“Cinedigm is building a legacy around supporting important films with extraordinary heroes,” said Bordo, who founded the production company Women Rising.

“We wanted more than a distributor; we wanted a partner. Cinedigm is the perfect addition to Team Lizzie and we are excited and ready to share Lizzie’s inspiring story of hope with audiences everywhere.”

Abby Davis and Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers with Kristin Harris representing Cinedigm...

Damon Wayans, David Alan Grier, Melissa De Sousa, Dom Irrera, Andrea Martin, Julio Oscar Mechoso, and Greg Pitts in Damon (1998)
25 years later: How 'In Living Color' broke sketch comedy's race barrier
Damon Wayans, David Alan Grier, Melissa De Sousa, Dom Irrera, Andrea Martin, Julio Oscar Mechoso, and Greg Pitts in Damon (1998)
In the summer of 1989, while Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" was sounding a thunderclap in cinemas, a troupe of largely black actors and comedians came together on a Fox sound stage in Century City to produce a sketch comedy show aimed at servicing a minority point of view that had been underrepresented by the medium. With producer Keenen Ivory Wayans at the helm, fresh off the success of his 1988 Blaxploitation parody film "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka," eight individuals — a then-unknown Jim Carrey along with Kelly Coffield, Kim Coles, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, T'Keyah "Crystal" Keymáh and Wayans' siblings Damon and Kim — filmed the first episodes of "In Living Color." The show debuted on April 15, 1990, and 25 years later, Damon Wayans can't help but remember first and foremost that he had hair back then. "I remember the pain of getting fired from 'Saturday Night Live' and feeling that I needed redemption,...
