JJBA has been huge in memes and anime culture for years and years. I knew the first part (Season 1, Episodes 1-9) was supposed to be the weakest, but I just wanted to start it anyway and eventually see what the fuss was about.
Definitely interesting. I can see how this would be the least good part, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. The art style is weird as hell, which I expected and wasn't 100% a fan of, and it's so exaggerated which is the norm in shonen anime, but here it is nearly laughable at times, but... not really in much of a bad way. It kinda adds to the charm in some way.
I also liked the setting, I'm pretty sure I've not seen a Japanese anime set in 1880s England and one that uses a 1970s song in its outro. One other thing I have to say is that it is way more gory and in the horror-genre than I thought. One scene in episode 7 was just gross. I've heard the rest isn't in the same theme though.
The first three episodes and ending was great, but the middle dragged a bit. Nevertheless, I'm still gonna watch a bit more, as the rest is more well known. And at least now I know where the To Be Continued arrow meme is from.
7.5/10.
