My favorite way to decompress at the end of the day is to listen to standup comedy while playing puzzle games on my phone. Amazon comedy specials are often similar and blend together, but Dina stood out and even had me looking up from my phone a few times.

She's very young and has similar political and relationship observations and jokes as many other comedians her age post Covid. She only briefly mentioned her Muslim background and rocky childhood, but these are the things that intrigued me. That could be her hook, the thing to define her from the myriad of other Millennial comics. I was left wanting to know more about her and would watch another Dina Hashem special in a heartbeat.

I chose to watch Dark Little Whispers only because I'm a bit lazy and this was the first title suggested to me on a streaming platform. I had never heard of Dina, but I'm glad I found this special because she's razor sharp!

Without spoiling anything, I will say that Dina's style seems to be a mix of confessional, social and political commentary, conventional joke telling and... absurdism? I don't know. Either way she draws some surprising and funny associations, and I think she reveals some truths about our shared human experiences -- across lines of culture, identity, ideology and place.

I thought this was cool and maybe you will too.

I have seen the reviews on this site and can only assume this waste of oxygen, and her (assumed) managers, write the three of them. This came on after an actual stand up and I attempted to give it a go. I managed to get 17:21 in before a toaster and a bath seem like a funnier use of my time.

There was intelligent, edgy, relevent or, at least, funny about this some 48 minutes. I can only feel for the women to the right of the screen who seemed to cringe more than I. I struggle to see how this managed to get a special. The level a hubris for her to assume she (assumed) had the talent to attempt an hour of standup is genuinely commendable. If I had such self confidence, I could have become an Olympic breakdancer. Alas. All I know is that this wasn't worth my bandwidth on an unlimited internet connection. Please, please, please do not watch. Actually, I get off on suffering. I challenge someone to get past the 18 min mark. Peace and love.

I try to catch every new comedy show, especially the females being one myself. You can truly relate to her; it was dark for me but also hopeful... anyone who can speak truths so brilliantly for anyone to understand should be heard.

This was elequently said and she really gets to the meat of ignorance and racism. If only her words could be heard through the world so everyone could hear and understand them...a chance to change the world for the better.. all of us working together as one.

Her explanation and experiences give me hope for the little ripples being heard throughout the galaxy, everything is connected.
