I love the show just because the plots are so ridiculous. The writers have created an absurd, ongoing situation - "Old town," with a massive telemarketing presence, a sheriff on roller skates, etc. The entire intent is so absurd that it's funny - then add a naive kid with (unexplained) leg braces, and an "evil" dog - which is actually the hero of each episode. I think what I really love are the right wing religious nuts who can't see that it is just a silly cartoon, funny in the absurdity, and think that the show is a sign of Satan at work. Sadly, these people know nothing of biblical or theological history, and are just stupid. I've watched the first season, probably three times. The animation director, or the animators themselves have added funny twists to the animations - look at the pictures on the Sheriff's wall, the magazines in the country store store, the graffiti on the bridge embankments, etc. A lot of imagination has gone into the series. A then there is Mr. Pickles. He's my best friend. Love that theme song.
This show makes me feel like I'm going crazy. And I like that feeling.
The jokes themselves aren't really funny but are delivered in such a graphic and disturbing way and occur so rapidly that it really kind of takes you on a weird journey and then when it's over you think "what the hell did I just watch?"
I would definitely want Mr. Pickles as my own pet though. Him and Tommy are probably the most fleshed out characters. Everybody else is an insane grotesque caricature of some awful person you probably already know and in that regard I really appreciate it's scathingly sarcastic tone in regards to stupid people in general.

I have no idea where this show will go on from here, don't see how the storyline hasn't been milked in one episode but i'm open to be surprised. Where that i do love storyline above the rest of the content, the sheer recklessness it's willing to show and cause, i believe the animators folly know what they are doing. Throwing away the plane rudeness most show try to cover up with an unguided story arch, this show confronts you with what we most like in adult cartoons. Uncensored craziness and mind-blowing creativity. Leaving dignity and respect for anything in this world behind, Mr pickles has the potential to become something memorable in the adult cartoon industry. I can't speak for the episodes to come, but the pilot is certainly a must watch if you like something that deviates from the norm. it's rude, gory and has no self-control...i love it.
I recently saw the first season of Mr. Pickles, despite seeing hatred towards it on YouTube. And, I enjoy it. I'm not a fan of Satan, not a very religious person but I think you should go into the show, expecting lots of animated gore and gross images. Sure, the show doesn't look perfect, but it isn't bad. Yes, the characters aren't that memorable, except from Mr. Pickles, though I enjoy Grandpa also. The humor is most of the time sick or black but I kinda like it. There isn't a story going on also. The best episode so far is Season 1's end. Overall Mr. Pickles isn't show for everybody, though I have fun with it. If you want some blood, black or gross humor, this show may be for you.
"This show is not for everyone" should be this show's goddamn tag-line or something. It's violent, and constantly shoves it's satanic references and disgusting body-humor down your throat AT ALL TIMES.
You need a stomach for this kind of show, and if you have it, it's really, really fun. You can't knock it for not being creative. A lot of the voice actors for characters in the show aren't amazing, but at least most of them are convincing, it's stories in each episode are, as well, average but good enough. Where it really shines is how well it handles it's violent situations and characters. One scene can go from seemingly harmless to absolute insanity in the blink of an eye, and it never feels too rushed or out of place. This is mostly due to the fact that the only scenes containing elements of torture, violence, hacking, sawing, and pretty much any other disgustingly gory act you can possibly think of are so brief and inventive in it's own sorta way, that after a while, it becomes normal within the show's confined universe.
