I am Scottish and enjoy Hallmark TV movies so I had high hopes for this one but was sorely disappointed. The title was strange and didn't invoke a sense of romance in spite of it referring to the scheming Mums. The story was simplistic and very bland. The casting was poor. I felt there was no chemistry between the leads. Even the cute young son was rather amateurish. The two mothers definitely saved the day.
The saving grace was the location and I'm sure foreigners enjoyed the Scottish accents and cultural traditions they may never have been exposed to before.
I usually enjoy the lead actress in every movie I've seen but I got the feeling she was uncomfortable on this set and either wasn't enjoying her character or the script.
It was poorly directed and edited although well shot. It seemed extremely choppy to me and i couldn't get "into it" for all these reasons.
I realize this is a very person critique but valid non the less.

Wow! Loved this entire movie!
Everything about it was beautiful.
It was like we actually went to Scotland and met these people.
It was natural n the characters were perfect with their emotions.
It didn't seem fake at all.
Storyline was beautiful, relatable.
Loved the scenery and the stores, buildings, bridges made out of stone.
The lead characters n the boy Finn were great in their roles.
I really want to go to Scotland now, soon.
Loved the accents, the delicious foods on the table.
Please make more movies in different countries we really enjoy them.
So nice having actors from different countries making it more real.
Was a very fun movie to watch.

I've seen tons of Hallmark movies. Maybe almost all of them. I'm not a critic or reviewer. I watch Hallmark movies to feel better and enhance my life. In my view this is one of the best written, casted, and acted ones ever. Kudos. Meaningful. Believable. If you choose to watch it I hope you enjoy. The photography/cinematography is also great. Dialog is spot on. The acting is excellent. The characters are believable and well played. Feelings are well portrayed. Hard to beat the scenery. Erica Durance, Jordan Young, and the entire cast is wonderful. Believable. Pretty muck the same Hallmark movie equation, but refreshing and not totally predictable.
I liked. Very much , in fact, surprising for me because, except location, not illusion about same recipe, in new forms , with the same content.
The motif of good impression is represented by credibility offered to their characters by Jordan Young and Erica Durance and the lovely charm created, in fair manner, by Juliet Cadzo and Jo Cameron Brown.
No doubts, the Scotish landscapes are a precious spice in this case but the wisdom and the fair crafted story, the smart way to give inspired traits to her Lilly by Erica Durance are just useful virtues for a different romance, in which the water of past are not symbolic or hurry sketches.
So, just a pretty beautiful film.

I enjoyed this sweet story, and it was nice that is wasn't the same cookie-cutter Hallmark movie. The scenery was lovely and made me want to visit Scotland. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the main character Lily, who came across as emotionless to me. That may have been because her entire face was immobilized by Botox, and she had literally the same expression when showing surprise, laughter, and sorrow. It was very off-putting and I found it hard to concentrate on what she was saying. I enjoyed the sincerity of the male lead and his son, and there was a lot of chemistry with most of the cast.
