Wow. Just so bad.

I usually enjoy cheesy/campy "thrillers" like this, but this one was tough to get through. It's pretty obvious that the director only had about 30 minutes of plot, so he filled in the rest of the movie with long, boring, meaningless and unnecessary flashbacks in order to stretch the movie and give Richard Dreyfuss something to do so they could slap his name on the poster in order to give the movie some legitimacy. I wasn't expecting high art, but I was hoping it would at least be entertaining. Bad dialogue, plot holes, cheap looking CGI, and hammy acting were expected (and delivered) but they could have at least added some semblance of a plot and anything to hold your attention. The flashbacks were so redundant and drawn out. Dreyfuss was just mailing this one in. He probably received a nice big check, shot all his scenes in a day or two, took a nice vacation, then hoped and prayed that this movie would never see the light of day. Out of respect for the legendary Richard Dreyfuss, please skip this movie and we can all just pretend that it never happened.

Not great, but for shark movie fans it's a passable lazy day watch.

If you love shark movies, you will probably watch this regardless of the reviews. This is nowhere as good as The Shallows or as fun as Deep Blue Sea, but it's better than most shark movies we get. Is it good? No, but for shark movie fans worth a watch on a lazy Sunday or with some friends (drinks encouraged!) who like bad movies. The main cast all do an adequate job. It is always nice to see Richard Dreyfuss, but his character (the leads grandfather, mostly seen in flashbacks) isn't really needed in the film. The Shark FX range from pretty good to pretty bad depending on the scene, but are generally better than most modern low budget Shark films. There is a good amount of Shark footage, though there actions are not believable. There is a lot of CGI blood, but not much actual gore. As for the story, it's basic but serviceable and gets our cast out in the ocean to be fed upon by sharks patrolling the same waters as drug dealers trying to obtain their sunken drugs. If you aren't a shark film fan, skip this unless you like bad movies, but if you are give it a watch (just keep expectations low).

Yeah, pretty bad

I really wanted to like this movie. Director Christian Sesma has made a bit of a name for himself in low budget, indie, action and Scout Taylor-Compton has worked on a number of low budget, indie flicks. I like that commitment to the thinner edge of the film making wedge.

I wondered throughout the movie why Richard Dreyfus agreed to it. There's a lecture on shark conservation during the closing credits that answers that.

In the end though, it's just not very good. The dialogue is weak, the effects are poor and it offers nothing really to the pretty saturated genre of shark movies. Some friends get coerced into diving in shark infested waters by some modern pirates. The leader of which is so over-the-top I just couldn't invest. The main protagonist has a tragic backstory involving sharks and there are a number of flashback scenes where she remembers how she came to terms with the dangers of the ocean. This culminates in a literal face off with a shark that just might be the movie's highlight and low point at the same time.

I'm really trying hard to find something to like but I'm forcing it. It just isn't any good.

Has Dreyfuss lost his mind ?

It's been a while since I've bothered to officially review anything on here, this, however, was a must !

I didn't expect anything groundbreaking or worthy of an Oscar. What I did expect, is better than this !

Holy cowabunga, is this what has become of Richard Dreyfuss ? After playing 'Hooper' in the legendary 'Jaws'......he then participated in this.......this.......this can only be classed as absolutely terrible ?!

Characters = no personality, you can't warm too or associate with any of them.

Dialogue = poor, at best.

Story = been done more than once.

Scenery = erm......not exactly great.

CGI = nothing more than abysmal.

I'm just going to leave it at that and hope there aren't too many others out there expecting better.

I'm disappointed in myself for thinking this could've at least been deemed 'acceptable'.

Waste of Time, Money , Electricity and place in history

"Into the Deep" (2025) is a disaster of a movie that fails on every level. The sound effects are terrible and add nothing to the atmosphere, while the scenario is dull, poorly thought out, and completely lacks common sense. The story is uninspired, filled with clichés, and drags on with no sense of excitement or tension. It's clearly a low-budget production with cheap-looking visuals and unconvincing CGI, especially the sharks. There are no jump scares, no thrilling moments, and absolutely nothing attractive or entertaining about it. In short, there's not a single aspect of this film that can be praised-it's a complete waste of time.

Sharknado is more realistic to watch 😂

Into the Deep (2025) is an absolute mess of a film. The plot is shallow and riddled with clichés, the characters are completely forgettable, and the dialogue feels like it was written by someone who gave up halfway through. It tries to be a serious thriller, but instead, it drags on with predictable twists and zero suspense.

The sharks, which should be the highlight, are laughably bad. The CGI is outdated and unconvincing, completely robbing the movie of any tension or excitement. Instead of creating a sense of fear, it feels like the filmmakers didn't even try to make the visuals remotely believable.

Honestly, even Sharknado is way better. At least that film is entertaining in its absurdity. Into the Deep doesn't even manage to be fun-it's just dull and forgettable. Don't waste your time.

I normally won't watch anything with a rat lower than five stars

I normally would not have watched this, but the hubby wanted to, so there you go. It was not the worst movie I've ever seen, but it certainly wasn't the best. There was one particularly bad effect that almost had me laughing out loud, but I was pleasantly surprised that most of the movie was not completely unwatchable. In fact, at times it was rather entertaining, and there were a couple of pretty good performances.

Richard Dreyfus was, of course, excellent, but I confess it makes me sad when I see an Oscar winner playing a supporting role in a B movie. But, as they say, "That's show business."

The bar is lowered

Once again the bar for movie standards is lowered to this dismissal turd of a movie that should be flushed. Hollywood had once again insulted the intelligence of the collective viewers to assume we have the attention span of a buzzing dung beetle as though the viewer wants to digest this feces film.

The actors, if you can call them "actors", have the believability of a children's preschool puppet show. Yet I've actually seen better acting by sock puppets. The D list lineup of actors and their pathetic attempt to read the poorly written movie script have the conviction of apathetic teenagers placing an order into a Burger King drive through microphone.

This could possibly be the worst movie ever written and clearly a sad attempt to hang on the coattails of the classic film Jaws, minus everything that made Jaws a legend. Such as believable actors, suspense, or any way to captivate the audience.

Shame on anyone involved in this sad cinematic disaster.

Watchable, but nothing outstanding...

Of course I had not heard about this 2025 movie from director Christian Sesma prior to watching it. But I was immediately drawn in by the movie's cover, as I am a sucker for shark movies, despite the fact that the vast majority of shark movies are questionable affairs, let's just be honest about it. But I still opted to watch "Into the Deep", as it was a movie that I had never heard about.

The storyline in the movie was okay. I mean, it wasn't as if writers Chad Law and Josh Ridgway revolutionized the shark genre by any means. But the storyline was adequately entertaining for what it was, though it was somewhat generic. And in all honesty, don't we measure all shark movies up against the mother of all shark movies "Jaws" whether we want to or not?

Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with Richard Dreyfuss and Jon Seda. It was actually nice to see Richard Dreyfuss return to a shark-themed movie. The acting performances in the movie were good.

The effects in "Into the Deep" were good. At least director Christian Sesma didn't opt to use stock footage of sharks, which generally just dumbs down a movie unnecessarily so.

Watchable, for sure, if you enjoy shark movies, but hardly a noteworthy foray into the shark-infested depths. It is not a movie that particularly warrants more than just a single viewing either.

My rating of "Into the Deep" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Not scary, but okay to pass the time

If you're looking for a shark movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Into the Deep (2025) falls short. The film relies on predictable tropes, with scares that don't land and a story that doesn't bring anything fresh to the genre. The characters lack depth, and the visual effects, while not terrible, don't make up for the lack of tension.

That said, it's not entirely unwatchable. If you're in the mood for something mindless to fill some time, it's serviceable as casual entertainment. Just don't expect to be thrilled or deeply engaged. For shark movie fans, it might scratch the itch, but it's not a standout. It's the kind of movie you can have on in the background, but it won't leave a lasting impression.

LOVED THE MESSAGE FROM RICHARD AT THE END!!

I enjoyed the movie. Not the best shark movie I've seen, however I must say that the message that Richard Dryfess teaches his granddaughter and others in the movie about how the ocean is their territory, is amazing and so true!! I must say that his message to the audience at the end about ocean conservation and how sharks are beneficial to our ecosystems, was something that everyone should see and be educated in, especially with how they are more beneficial to us alive than dead. Please support and donate towards ocean conservation and please stop consuming shark fin soup and stop killing sharks. We need them more than we know and even though they are terrifying in movies, they should be more terrified of us in real life!! Thank you Richard, you're correct!!

Richard Dreyfuss in a shark movie

Cassidy Branham (Scout Taylor-Compton) is an oceanographer despite watching her father killed by a shark as a child. Her grandfather Seamus (Richard Dreyfuss) pushes her to get over the encounter. She and her husband Gregg Branham (Callum McGowan) go on a diving expedition off Thailand. Daemon Benz (Stuart Townsend) is the captain. Along with sharks, the group is attacked by pirates who force them to dive for something.

It's a shark movie and it has Dreyfuss. It's too bad that he doesn't go out into the waters. It's a bit of stunt casting which probably took him a couple of days to shoot. He does have a special message for the audience at the end. As for the sharks, I think they look real enough in most cases. This is generally a marginal B-movie.

Bite at the end

No pun intended - yes Richard Dreyfuss of Jaws fame is in this ... no he is not as involved as you may think (or want?) ... I reckon they refused to get him a bigger boat so ... well you know the rest. Also this is nowhere near the Steven Spielberg classic ... so don't even try to compare it.

I was actually thinking about giving this a 4 (being kind with that too) ... there is not much of a story, the villains are ... low brained to say the least, there is a lot of luck/coincidence going on ... and the sharks must have found ... oh wait, that part actually checks out I reckon ... still doesn't explain the behavior (as it didn't with the bear either) ... but then the ending comes up and we get a special message from Richard himself ... and what he has to say is really important and hopefully people will listen ... I doubt it, because I assume people will just want to log out and off once the movie is done ... but there is hope ... there is always hope! Yes sharks are not bad (or evil) ... don't believe the (negative) hype!

Nothing original in this film.

Having seen this for free, I still felt robbed.

We all know the story, woman scarred from shark attack in her family when she was younger now is trained marine biologist or something or other, but still has a fear of sharks.

Pirates come along wanting their sunken treasure which just so happens to be under the water where the sharks are, wow there's a shock.

No Matt see how vast the sea is, somehow the sharks are always where the treasure is.

This similar storyline to a movie which I watched a month or two back.

Nothing original about this movie from the storyline to the final outcome.

I don't mind shark movies but come on, an original idea every now and then would be good.

1 star rating, don't waste your time.

Not to bad, but not good either.

*Into the Deep (2025) - A Not So Thrilling Underwater Adventure*

"Into the Deep" is a action-packed thriller that will not keep you on the edge of your seat. The film's underwater setting provides an average and forgettable backdrop for the story to unfold.

The cast delivers average performances, with few standout moments from the lead actors. The special effects are very average, making the underwater sequences forgettable.

While the plot may be somewhat predictable, the film's pacing and tension make up for it. You'll find yourself not holding your breath as the characters navigate treacherous waters and confront danger at every turn.

Overall, "Into the Deep" is a very average ride that's ok for fans of underwater adventures and action movies. There are some intense moments and a few surprises along the way!

"Into the Deep" Plunges into B-Movie Thrills

Set against the stunning backdrop of Krabi, Thailand, "Into the Deep" (2025) delivers an action-adventure tale that dives headfirst into shark-infested waters and pirate encounters. The story centers on Cassidy, an oceanographer still grappling with the trauma of her father's shark-related death. To confront her fears, she embarks on a diving expedition for sunken treasure with her new husband, Gregg. Their boat, captained by Gregg's friend Daemon, also carries other divers, including Pierre and Itsara.

The expedition takes a perilous turn when the group is ambushed by modern-day pirates led by the ruthless Jordan, who are on the hunt for a lost drug shipment. Forced into the dangerous depths, the divers must contend with both deadly sharks and their captors. Interspersed throughout the film are flashbacks featuring Richard Dreyfuss as Cassidy's grandfather, a marine biologist who helps her confront her nightmares and fears.

For those who appreciate its B-movie qualities and shark-related thrills, "Into the Deep" largely succeeds. While some viewers found it predictable, others on IMDb enjoyed the film's ability to build suspense. The performances, particularly that of Richard Dreyfuss, and the film's underlying message about shark conservation (highlighted by Dreyfuss's speech during the closing credits) were also noted positives.

However, the film isn't without its flaws. Many critics and viewers found the plot to be generic, the special effects unconvincing, and the overall execution lackluster. The character of Jess (identified in your notes as the main character, though the body of the review names Cassidy), described as poorly defined, naive, and prone to questionable decisions, also stood out.

Ultimately, "Into the Deep" is recommended for viewers who enjoy shark movies, especially those who appreciate a mix of action, suspense, and some cheesy, over-the-top moments. It's not a critically acclaimed masterpiece, but if you're in the mood for a fun, mindless watch on a lazy afternoon or with friends who enjoy "bad movies," "Into the Deep" might just be the catch of the day.

The WORST movie ever watched in my life!

Here's an expanded version of your text:

This was, without a doubt, the worst story ever made. The plot was incredibly predictable, and you could anticipate every single thing that was going to happen long before it actually did. There were absolutely no surprises, no twists, and nothing to keep the audience engaged. The computer-generated effects for the shark were some of the worst I've ever seen-completely unrealistic and poorly executed. The fake blood looked ridiculously cheap and unconvincing, making the scenes that were supposed to be intense feel laughable instead. To make matters worse, there was no real action throughout the entire film, even though it's labeled as an "action" movie. The pacing was slow, the characters were dull, and the so-called action sequences lacked any excitement or intensity. Watching this movie felt like a total waste of time, and I genuinely regret spending even a single minute on it. I hate that I lost precious time I'll never get back watching something so poorly made.

Watch Sharknado for more thrills

One of, if not outright, worst shark movie within the last 2 decades. I can see where the majority of the budget went, hiring Richard Dreyfuss for a small amount of screen time hoping to draw in the jaws faithful. Problem is, Piranha did that a decade earlier and did it way better and was campy fun. Something this film ain't. The acting here is just bad. The script is beyond a joke, the acting is plain horrible, the photography and directing is hamfisted and the effects? Sesame Street budget vfx which Scify channel are laughing at. I wish to everything that IMBD would create a zero rating asap, because celluloid trash like this needs it.

A really fun entry if only light on shark action

Heading out with her family, a woman looking to enjoy a holiday dive in the middle of the ocean is stranded when a shark attack severely injures one of their crew, and when trying to gather help, they find their target are drug smugglers who force them to dive for missing loot in those waters.

Overall, this was a somewhat problematic if still watchable enough, genre effort. Among its better features is the sense of characterization that goes on regarding the different stories at play here. Opening up on the trauma involving sharks and the sea by witnessing her father getting attacked by the creatures, this sets up the reluctance as an adult, where her fear about being on the water and mingling in that environment makes for a strong setup when it comes time to be dropped into the dive for the treasure. When they discover it on their dive and begin exploring the remains before the interruption, it starts rather nicely about her status and fear of the water, which gets exploited rather nicely later on. That comes about with the series of shark attacks featured here, when the exploits involve a series of dives into the different parts of the ocean looking for the sunken drugs. With some atmospheric scenes showing the sharks stalking them on the dive and going into the ship before leaving for shore, the first attack featuring the devious attack on the fiancee while trying to escape, and a fun idea with her being targeted inside an ascending shark cage with the creatures following up after she provides this with some solid attack scenes. That they remain a threat throughout here, involving the group being attacked the second they step off the boat and into their watery home, makes them an intriguing enough threat that it keeps them involved alongside the other action involved here, making for a lot to like here. There are some factors here that bring it down. One of the main drawbacks is that there are quite a lot of elements present that continue maddeningly throughout the rest of the running time, as they interfere with the divers. It all comes together rather weakly as to how they get together in the first place, but it's quite lame when they continuously keep going for the wrong movement to keep them under the control of the thugs, which makes for an infuriating watch at points. As a result, the film leaves with a relatively low amount of shark action, as everything keeping them out of the water means there's less time with them than expected. With all the generally cheesy effects work throughout this one, it tends to hold it back as a whole.

Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Not too bad...

The visual effects are at times quite poor, but if you get over that, the story is quite interesting, the characters are engaging and are actually developed quite well. Some great suspense, but again, the vfx may pull you out of that 'suspension of disbelief' a few times.

One of the most interesting/ ironic things is that after watching a film (in which the sharks are extremely aggressive and vicious), Richard Dreyfuss does a running talk through the credits about how amazing, vital and positive sharks are in the world's oceans.

While there were a few 'conveniences' in the story, it was mostly believable and it helped that the plot was mostly set in one main location- on or under the boats by the shipwreck...

The absolute worst movie

This is the worst most cheesy movie I have ever seen in my life. The acting was so painful to even try and finish. The main actress looked like she had to go poop through the whole movie.

There want a single person who could act. Not even the sharks😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 now I have to come up with 6 hundred characters to warn everyone not to even bother trying to watch it. There is no chance of a spoiler because it all sucked. I would rather have four more children naturally than have to sit through this nightmare of a movie. Please 🙏 DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY on this crappy movie. Even the fake blood looked like paint.

Was this shot in the 70s?

Atrocious acting (including Richard), boring story, camera footage all over the place, too clearly CGI sharks along with meeting with a shark super imposed on a fish tank, marine biologist that can't tie a knot, man lies bleeding without an arm and this guy goes into a long spiel about global warming??? I was going to turn it off but got curious how much it could get worse. Lesson learned here. Automatic weapons only fire in one direction and Coast Guard radios are not used. To the "actors" in this C grade movie that shouldn't have ever made the screen; you'll feel that failure in coming years. I'd suggest the director and the producer go into a new vocation; like opening a kebab shop together.

Just skip it

From the terrible music choices to the awful CGI, this movie is as bad as it gets. Character stories make no sense. Gunfights make zero sense. Even the underwater talking makes zero sense. In short, this movie made zero sense. No research into how things happen organically in every aspect of this movie would ever happen in even the imagination of a kid playing with toys. The only thing going for it is the background. The location is beautiful, and I could see wanting to take a trip there. But alas, they also failed to mention even that much in the movie. Yep, the whole time you don't even know where all of this is taking place.

Tldr: the movie makes no sense.
