What If?

I recently watched some Netflix films with my boyfriend in Dubai, including a few by Alessandra De Rossi. "Kita Kita and Through Night and Day" were fantastic, but "My Amanda and What If" were a total disappointment.

In "My Amanda" which she wrote herself, the script felt very very very self-indulgent, almost like a vanity project (GGSS level). Meanwhile, "What If" was like an LSD trip, a visually stunning film thanks to its breathtaking location, but painfully slow and directionless in terms of storytelling. The film drags on without a clear message, merely showcasing two people in a dysfunctional relationship, making it one of the most tedious watches I've ever endured. I feel bad for Jm De Guzman for saying yes to this.

De Rossi has great ideas, but she should collaborate with seasoned filmmakers to execute them properly. She's a talented actress, but let's be real, she's no Clint Eastwood or Greta Gerwig, and this film is a heavy proof.
