AMAZING!! A classic teeny bopper summer movie for the whole family to enjoy. I saw the movie twice and it may have been even better the second time! Think High School Musical 2 if the kids were actually cool and minus the spontaneous singing. Reminds me of my own experience lifeguarding in the summers as a teenager. But even if you never were a lifeguard, I think everyone can relate to this movie in some way when it comes to navigating your life as a teenager. Going through major life changes like going off college, succumbing to peer pressure, making new friends and learning how to handle responsibilities like your first summer job.
Great job to the cast and crew! All the actors perfectly portrayed their character's unique personalities and the director's artistic and creative style really captured the overall theme and mood of the film. You can tell there's definitely some personal touches from real life experiences. It just may have convinced me to move back to Ohio!

Best way I could describe it is something like sanitized surrealism, its some kind of surrealist humour, but in my opinion it is rather predictable and has no edge or real shock factor to it.
Feels like the 'funny' kids from your school made a comedy film, yeah there's a couple of laughs in it but nothing that you haven't laughed at before, or already seen in a film. There are also too many moments where they make a joke and you just find yourself sighing instead of laughing.
Maybe I went in with my expectations too high and others will enjoy it, it was rated nearly 9/10 on IMDB, and there are very few films rated over 7 that I don't enjoy watching. When I seen the rating I was expecting some extremely hilarious scenes in this film, to laugh like I hadn't done in a long time.

Reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite...the more you watch the film the better it is. Multiple viewings let's you get to know the characters (to state the obvious) but is very much worth the time. The central story line is not what it seems at first. And again like Napoleon, this seems ripe for a sequel which I hope we get.
No spoilers, but an underrated great scene is the "4th of July America debate" between the staff. Haters on both sides of the aisle would benefit from watching just this scene (again the more times the better) and would fit in well during a civics class presentation.
We (weirdly?) judge movies on whether we thought about them while falling asleep that night or when waking up. Watch this twice and you will...
