It was amazing at the start. Great concept, decent story, great fight scenes and simply beautiful animation. I gave it 10/10
Then, I don't know what happened. They got tired? Ran out of budget or lost interest? But the characters weren't properly developed. I couldn't bring myself to care about the cop, the main character got flatter as the story progressed and they killed off the one character I cared about.
Worst part? The animation and fight scenes that were one of the major selling points got worse. It became a nauseating, fake-looking CGI fest. I quit halfway through episode 13 because I just couldn't stand it anymore.
The 7/10 rating is entirely due to the first few episodes, the rest deserve a 5 at best and 3 if I continue watching it. I hope they fix up.

"Ninja Kamui" definitely won me over with the trailer a few months ago.
You could already see that the animation and choreography of the fights would be fantastic - I could only guess how much more would come in the course of the anime and was almost certain that this anime would be relatively high up at the top of the animes from 2024.
The anime starts off very promisingly, as promised by the trailer - the fights in the first episodes are choreographed fantastically and are breathtakingly well animated.
The story and the characters are rather simple and not particularly innovative, but that hardly bothered me - as long as the implementation of this simple story maintained this level, I would have been happy.
But unfortunately it didn't...
Before I could admire the dark style and simple character design of the main character, who was initially only wearing a black hoodie, enough, he slips into a bright mecha suit with all sorts of bells and whistles on it. I personally found that a shame because I think the anime would have worked much better if they had stuck to traditional fighting techniques and weapons.
All the sci-fi stuff just takes away all the charm of the previously simple aesthetic...
If they really wanted to include mechas, I would have thought it was a better decision not to give the main character a suit and thus contrast ultra-modern fighting machines with old-fashioned ninja techniques.
It's a shame that they decided to go in this direction...

First, I am not a manga or cartoon watcher. I saw this on HBO and it appealed to me.
I started watching and it had a good start with action and the normal good story telling. There was like 2-3 minutes in the middle part that I wondered if it was gonna be slow from there on out.
But it did not let me down and it continued to deliver content and some great slash scenes.
I like this type of story telling, for "normal" shows when they set a boundary for what is possible they have to explain all "out of the ordinary" things as to not break the boundaries.
Here, it does not matter, there are no boundaries, we know how this works, the producers know it and the delivered a great EP1, it felt like my fantasy world when reading a really good shogun manga, will be back for more.
Ep3 update: Ep2 was OK, it contained some valuable storyline items. But after ep3 I am not so sure, it sure had storyline, but I dunno, something lacked, can't put my finger on it. Rating went from 9 to 7, I am not looking forward to the next episode as much as I looked forward to ep2.
Ep5+6 update: My hopes for the series died in the previous two episodes, but apparently it went for charging, the 5ep and 6ep was fantastic episodes, now I look forward to the next one!

The anime is very promising and it's interesting that HBO is producing it but the story falls very flat and the plot is nothing new: vengeance and lots of action. Basically a John Wick anime ripoff. This is not entirely a bad thing if well executed but so far it does not impress: the animation is top notch but the voice acting is ATROCIOUS. It definitely breaks the immersion. Also, the characters are kinda flat, we are 5-6 episodes in and I simply do not care for any of them, the vendetta motive of the main character is just not enough to make me excited. Hopefully this series will improve with the next episodes.

This anime series commences with an impressively rapid pace, immediately captivating viewers with its stunningly executed opening sequences. The blend of dynamic action and strategically placed quieter moments skillfully outlines the foundational premise of the story. As someone relatively inexperienced with the anime genre, I found the quality of the animation to be exceptionally high, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail and artistic expertise inherent in this medium.
However, I did observe that the narrative setup seemed somewhat rushed. As a newcomer to anime, I would have preferred a more gradual introduction to the storyline, allowing for a deeper immersion into the world and its characters. Despite this, the swift pacing did not significantly detract from the overall objective and allure of the episode.
Moreover, the power system introduced, while only glimpsed at first glance, appears to hold substantial promise. It suggests a depth and complexity that I anticipate will unfold as the series progresses. This aspect, along with the intriguing narrative and visual excellence, contributed to an overall enjoyable viewing experience. I am eagerly looking forward to exploring the subsequent episode and further understanding this anime's unique universe.

Exactly what the title says, this show is if John Wick and Cyberpunk 2077 had a child. The music has been outstanding so far and though the story is a basic revenge plot it does it well. Cyberninjas with new tech and old ancient magical techniques, an art style and animation that rivals JJK, outstanding choreography and extremely brutal fight scenes. This show is what I had wished for if they somehow brought back Ninja Scrolls. This show is worth the watch and I can't wait to see where the story goes next and how the world develops. The pacing is also very good. Extremely underrated and deserves a lot more hype. If you're looking a fast paced action shounen with ninjas, sci fi tech, fantastic music, and a decent storyline to carry it through then this show is for you. Highly recommended!

When this show first aired, it was really damn good. Top tier animation, not corners cut, an interesting story. As it has progressed, however, it's now CGI-ridden trash. Without spoiling, the combat went from beautiful animated ninja fighting to something that is not at all to the same quality that the show started with and now relies almost entirely on CGI to function. That CGI is noticeable and bad.
The story is interesting and compelling, although possibly a bit generic and predictable. But with the current level of animation, I'm no longer interested in watching. At episode 8, I just skimmed and decided I was no longer interested. It's truly a shame considering how good the first few episodes are, but the quality has plummeted, and the show is now just kind of bad. Not worth watching.

This show is great. The action scenes are amazing. The story is well done. It's over the top , but not to much, while fitting the story. Reminds me of my childhood, with all the great ninja movies. This show is definitely for mature audiences. A ton of violence, with mature language. The fight allthe fight scenes are incredible . Fantastic job choreographing all the action scenes.
I can't get enough of this show. Only 3 episodes in so far, but I can't wait for more... keep em coming !!!! I'm already hoping that they are planning on doing a 2nd season. Great ninja shows like this will always have a special place in my heart..

This had a really strong start but unfortunately it swayed away from what I originally thought this series would be.
When I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes I was super excited thinking that I finally ended up finding a Ninja themed anime series that takes place in a modern time. Unfortunately the series ends up with a big focus on Mecha armor which is used heavily by both antagonists and protagonists. I suppose some folks might not be bothered by this but once the sci-fi armor action began it really started feeling like I was watching action scenes from a completely different series. I personally enjoyed the action a whole lot more when it was folks battling each other without fancy Iron Man-esque suits. I'd also like to mention that these suits are CGI drawn which, in my opinion, doesn't look or move as great as the hand drawn animation in this series.
The only other nitpick that kept coming to my mind is that after the first 2 or 3 episodes we only seem to see the supporting cast speak about what to do next or what they should do against an opponent. They barely gave any attention to the main character when it comes to suggesting a plan or even share his thoughts about the situations. Thankfully we do get to see a lot more from him in the flashbacks we see throughout. Though I will admit a lot of the other characters we see are super charismatic and felt very unique.
While I found the story a bit entertaining I must admit that it wasn't exactly anything out of this world. It starts off as a normal revenge story but unfortunately the longer it went the more it seemed like the creators were trying to cram way too many different concepts into 1 package. I actually found myself enjoying the flashbacks more than what was occurring in the present.
If you wish to see 'turn-off your mind' action I'd say give it a chance, the action in the first half of the series is great in my opinion. If you're expecting regular ninjas without Iron Man suits then you may end up disappointed once the Sci-Fi kicks in. I honestly would've rated this higher if it didn't shift from 'Modern day Ninjas' to 'Mecha-Ninjas'.

I can't stand when anime is rated differently from movie or TV shows, why do basic standards get lowered just because it's anime? I had really high hopes that it would be a really cool show about an assassin, it's visually beautiful, but everything else is such a let down. Here's why:
1. The storyline is so basic and slow. I'm 7 episodes in and nothing has any real purpose. It's just a guy looking for revenge in the most boring way possible, sprinkled in the typical dumb cop that thinks his gun will eventually work against ninjas running at 200mph.
2. The main character is boring. You cant connect with him. There's nothing about him that's interesting, he just wants revenge. He's too much of the teenage silent, but edgy trope.
3. The other characters are just there. They offer nothing of worth to the show. They don't have any personality that makes you route for or against them. Some flashbacks are meant to be sentimental, but, again, there's isn't a character worth putting emotion into.
What made people like John Wick were the fight scenes. There are some cool fight scenes, but more talking about nothing than fighting or interesting background information.

Knowing sunghoo Park is directing Ninja Kamui really made our hopes high, but they did nothing to keep the audience invested totally mid after first two episodes.
Just a John wick anime adaptation at best, now the 2nd season is announced hope they did better than that CGI they used.
But Not gonna lie the first two episodes the hand to hand combat the storyboard the production was very good they were really invested the voice acting from The best Kenjiro Tsuda really do catch my Interest But All we can do is hope what's in store for the future for this anime original fingers crossed.
Overall 7/10 show.

This ninja anime is ideal for fans of action and fights, but if you're looking for anything else... you won't find it here.
Simple, classic, and predictable story. Well-animated battles, but with a total lack of explanations and arguments about their techniques.
Basically, this anime wants to ignore or simplify any lore to the maximum. It relies entirely on introducing characters you know nothing about, but who have some striking aesthetic feature, so the protagonists can smash them (or not).
Excessively simple and straightforward for my taste, but with decent production and a very clear understanding of its target audience.
Those who like it will think it's amazing, while others might even find it bad. I've decided to stay in the middle; in the end, it entertained me.

The series started of with one of the best pilot episodes of the last decade. The hand to hand combat and the animation were just breath taking. In the begining, the show promised a classic john wick style revenge story but with a cool ninja twist. But things took turn to being rather boring and bland as the cool ninjas were replaced by cgi mech soldiers. I love mech. Soldiers , but not more than ninjas. The writing of the show turned out to be pretty juvenile in the later half of the show. The abrupt cuts in the scenes ruined it further. This is definitely NOT the worst show of the season, but for a show that started of as promising as this , to fell off as it did is pretty sad. It became just another mediocre show.
Also fleshing out the dead character while the main character remains totally unexplored is just bad writing.
One of the saving grace for me was Kenjiro tsuda, who voiced Higan. I am a big fan of him and his voice.

As an action series, it has potential, the choreography in particular is great however it's not amazing, it lacks detail, only some scenes of the choreography actually has detail beyond a typical fist fight and the animation is great as well but hopefully the long/wide range shots will be as good as the close range shots but even then with the close range shots things seem to just be appearing and disappearing, one ninja appears, they die, they disappear, another ninja appears, they die, etc rather than showing the audience what's actually happening in the environment through a long/wide shot angle but the close shot angles are fine, just lack a bit of detail in terms of choreography but the animation makes the choreography seem outstanding, however imagine that choreography but with horrible or semi horrible animation, it wouldn't look to good right? My point exactly, choreography is only good when it would look good even with amateur animation. Think of Fog hill of Five Elements for example, rare choreography, rare animation, absolutely amazing, and each scene of fog hill of five elements has a lot of detail, the fighting scenes in particular has a lot of detail that you wouldn't seen in any other series, and fog hill of five elements utilize physics a lot more correctly compared to other animes. This review by the way only focuses on the action side of things for Ninja Kamui since we haven't seen much of the story side yet (that means the 10 stars are solely for the action)

Ninja Kamui is one of the most bland and uninteresting shows I've seen in a long time. I cannot believe the IMDb rating of 7.9 and the reviews calling this utter snoozefest, brilliant. Outside of competent voice work and some decent fights, it has few redeeming qualities to speak of. Generic premise that quickly turns ridiculous, awful and out of place soundtrack, hugely inconsistent animation quality, plus characters so two-dimensional you don't care about any of them at all. They try to elicit emotional reactions from you with very typical tropes that are so poorly done and transparent it's almost insulting. Throw in some mid-2000s CGI jank at the end showcasing the most boring boss fight ever, some shallow crap that passes as resolution, and then it just ends.
For some incomprehensible reason, people think this is good. Just look at the rave reviews. I can't tell if they're joke reviews or it's simply some I-am-14-and-this-is-deep nonsense. Do yourself a favor and don't waste time on this show. I had to force myself to watch it all the way through because I finish everything I start. It begins in common fashion, meanders and plateaus throughout, then takes a massive, anticlimactic nosedive at the end. This is uninspired trash designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. You're better off watching almost anything else.

With only two episodes down, I am absolutely enthralled by this show so far. With the exception of a little bit of voice acting from one of the main characters who you will meet early on, this show appears to be absolutely flawless.
It is immediately entertaining and so far pretty easy to follow. The fight scenes occur often and are beautifully done, action-packed and choreographed quite well.
The soundtrack that goes along with them, pairs nicely and really enhances the overall experience. Props to the musicians who made such high tempo songs, while secondarily supplementing them with emotional music when required.
I cannot wait for the third episode, I cannot wait to see what happens, I would state the only issue that I have with this show at this point is that they did not drop all the episodes simultaneously so unfortunately I cannot binge watch.
Seriously check this out, it is so good that after watching the first two episodes, I had to write a review and go back and rewatch the first two episodes once more.
Outstanding work to the creators. With all of the horrible stuff that has come to the screen recently, this is absolutely refreshing and engaging.

I'm no author/ writer, just a viewer of A LOT of anime. I like all anime nuts I have my opinions. This review is just some of my thoughts about the show. I think it's a good show all around with its own quirks.
The writing is okay, the shows pacing is really solid in the beginning, but as the series has gone on it's seemed to slow down a wee bit (This isn't a bad thing, just a little jarring essentially when the show starts off the way it does.). The show has a really strong start as mentioned, and it hasn't failed to keep me on the edge of my seat. Very well done. Hope the pacing starts to pick back up an continues on a strong end. (As of Ep 8) If you are an action fan that doesn't mind a lot of gore, this will fill all those thrills you've been seeking out of a this American Anime (or animated series, however you wanna categorize it.) It has a A LOT of strong comings, and only one true short fall in its writing. A that leads me too. My only grip about the show is EVERY episode they want you to know they are "Ninja's". Every other sentence spoken is about some character being a Ninja. It's really a turn off, if they keep with this writing and constant reminder someone is a ninja, or it's their ninja pride. I may consider discontinuing my watching. I know a wee bit petty on my end. But it's mentioned so often. It REALLY is that much of a turn off. Just pay attention, and you will notice it. Even if you aren't looking for it you'll find it.
