La Cage

Honestly after two episodes I was about to give this show 8 stars, strong cameos (as usual GSP is so bad at acting but always a pleasure to see him), decent story at the beginning we always love underdogs, david vs goliath type and hands down, I've never seen such a high level of fighting skills in actors. The fights are great, best I've ever seen in a combat movie or show (looking at you cobra kai, actors were so bad at fighting the show lost all credibility).

BUT, it quickly turns into a clown fiesta. Useless drama, really poor plot twists, I almost stopped watching it, made my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Started so good but ended up so freaking bad, till the very last seconds. That ending man. Can't believe someone read that script and tought it was good, now I kind of feel like I wasted five hours, one of the worst ending ever. Was about to give four or five stars, I'll give six for the cameos and combat skills of everyone.

This show has potential. I will try to watch for sure. But they should have thought a bit more around the actors. Because the acting is really cringe.

The main actor does not really come across as a proper lead for a show that you have the intention of going big with plus the whole story with.... I come from nothing and here to conquer because I have nothing else....has been done so many times and lacks originality unfortunately. But hey, as I said, the show has potential and with the right development and writing ahead, we can maybe make a decent show here. Specially if we get a bit technically accurate with the fight scenes etc.

After a couple of episodes I started cheering against the main character. He is unlikable, makes ridiculous decisions and he constantly has a constipated or frustrated look on his face. He comes across as a generic meat-head with no depth. The rest of the characters are just as one dimensional.

I understand what they were trying to achieve. A young hungry contender gets an opportunity and fights his way to the top. Unfortunately the writers decided to take every possible shortcut then added a bunch of pointless forced conflicts in an amateurish attempt to create tension.

It's a shame the creators of the show decided against doing something a little more imaginative.

This is the type of show that will ruin Netflix. Its very foreseeable, very unrealistic and sometimes even very cringe worthy. I wouldnt recommend this show anyone except maybe MMA fans and French people (since it's a French production). The only positive thing are the MMA cameos. But other than that I hate the unrealistic storytelling, like it's the type of show where before every fight the main character suddenly gets confronted with some random problem and has to go somewhere before the fight which would never happen in real life. Or someone tells him something depressing right before the fight so the fight gets a little more interesting which it really needs because the fights are incredibly boring and unrealistic. Like, when the main character starts punching the opponent suddenly drops his defense for no reason at all. And this doesn't happen once but a lot of times, it really ruins the show for me. I can't really explain it, it's like watching a race with RC cars, a 3D Anime, a vegan burger, coffee with too much sugar, a controller with stick drift, you can watch it but you won't enjoy it, except if youre used to trash tv. 5/10 at most. Stop creating unrealistic, childish movies/tv shows you're ruining entertainment.

I'm a big fan of MMA and enjoyed the cameo roles of some big names.

The fight scenes were realistic and the underlying storyline offered another perspective to the plot.

My only criticism being the impact of the fights from a makeup viewpoint...

Enjoyed it so much, I binged watched from start to finish.

I'm at the point that my review is too short, so I'll try to pad it out.

The underlying storyline, with no spoilers offers another perspective as to why folk take up MMA, boxing and other high intensity sports.
