I've never been in movie houses since long time ago, more so for a Filipino movie. There's 3 movies that captures my attention to this year's MMFF namely Firefly, GomBurZa & Rewind. I got some resource to spend on for just 1 movie and so I decided to watch Rewind for a simple reason.. I have a soft spot for works of art relating to the gift of life & family for years now, and Rewind happens to have that based on its synopsis. Thankfully, it didnt disappoint.
This movie is a realization of faith, whether its faith to God and His plans, your loved one, or to your craft.. its a realization for all walks of life. And when it kicks in, it hits to the core.. and there's no holding back those tears.
Hands down to Dingdong, Marian & Pepe for portraying John, Mary & Jess/Lods respectively. The nominations are all well-deserved. And I wont have a single doubt if they actually won acting awards in the future for this. Nakakainis kayo! Halos kasisimula pa lang, parang sinisipon na ako. Buti na lang hindi ako nag-iisa, isang tulo, tingin o hikbi lang, nakakadala na..
Good word of mouth for the film definitely deserves it. It's a Filipino film that made my faith to Philippine drama close to what I hope it to be.
P. S. That subtle "Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay" instrumental bg music is well placed. It didnt felt too repetitive at all.. even though it was the only song I heard of being played all throughout the film. And when the vocals finally volumes up, wow! So satisfying! I liked it before and love it now.

Nrinig ko kc ung song ng ben&ben.. kya naiiyamot ako at npfeedback dito.. As a viewer, I was eagerly anticipating a fresh and innovative cinematic experience. However, what I encountered was a blatant imitation of "IF ONLY" from its storyline to character development and even specific scenes. It felt like a carbon copy rather than a unique creation. Lalo n sa element o material o props.. simula p lng ung PROMOTION sa trabaho issue, may nbasag, travel at related sa music scenario... juskolord.
The lack of originality not only diminished my enjoyment of the film but also left me questioning the creativity and integrity of the filmmaking process. As an audience member, I value authenticity and creativity, both of which were sorely lacking in this production.
Moving forward, I urge the movie production team to prioritize originality and creative storytelling, rather than resorting to imitation and replication. Viewers deserve fresh and compelling narratives that inspire and engage, not recycled versions of existing works.

It's a deeply emotional journey that tugs at the heartstrings and reminds us of life's most painful truth: we often realize the value of what we have only when it's gone.
At its core, Rewind is a story about love, loss, and redemption. John (Dingdong Dantes) is a man burdened by regret, given a miraculous opportunity to go back in time and change the fate of his beloved wife, Mary (Marian Rivera). But as he relives the past, he learns that love isn't just about rewriting mistakes-it's about treasuring every moment, every word, and every heartbeat shared with the people who matter most.
The film beautifully captures the raw emotions of grief and longing, making audiences reflect on their own relationships. It asks: How often do we let small fights, busy schedules, and unspoken words get in the way of showing how much we truly care? Rewind isn't just about turning back time-it's a wake-up call to cherish what we have before it's too late.
Prepare for tears, heartfelt realizations, and a story that will stay with you long after the credits roll. Rewind is a powerful reminder that in life, there are no rewinds-only the love we choose to give today.

Storyline 5/10
Acting 6/10
The title is a dead giveaway. Even a child can guess what happens next. There's nothing special about this film or i just don't see it. The acting is awful especially the kid who played Austin. Im sure there are other talented child actors out there and yet there he goes practically reading his lines with an emotionless face. There were probably 5 scenes and they just repeated it. Same place, same clothes, different lines. The plot is too simple-- nothing intriguing, curious, or interesting about it. The timeline is also too short for someone to realize something profound. The fact that an hour before his death, john was still acting immature only proves how he learned nothing. Well duh-- how will someone change his entire personality overnight? How dull. Quite disappointing since i thought i was in for a good drama.
"Rewind" unfolds as a poignant narrative for couples yearning to rewrite their past, delivering a heartfelt exploration of the universal desire for second chances. The film skillfully captures the complexities of relationships, prompting viewers to reflect on their own lives and appreciate the significance of each moment spent with loved ones. Through the journey of the husband and wife protagonists, "Rewind" serves as a gentle reminder to cherish the present and prioritize the people who matter most. The storyline also delicately underscores the importance of individuality within the context of marriage, particularly urging wives not to lose sight of their own identity in the pursuit of shared goals. With its emotional depth and relatable themes, "Rewind" is a compelling cinematic experience that resonates long after the credits roll.
