This review analyzes episode 5 of season 2 of the Helluva Boss series, titled "Unhappy Campers". It highlights that the series has lost quality compared to its beginning, as it has moved away from the original premise of hitman devils who travel to earth to kill people. Instead, it has focused on soap opera style dramas with poorly crafted dialogue and forced situations. Reference is made to the fact that the episode in question appears to have been written by a teenage girl on Wattpad.
The episode begins with Blitzo trying to find his twin sister in a rehab center. It is revealed that the sister left months ago without telling him, which infuriates Blitzo. Meanwhile, Moxxie and Millie argue with a potential client about a job to kill a camp monitor. The plot unfolds at Camp Ivannakummore, where Moxxie and Millie infiltrate in disguise to investigate the camp monitor. During their stay, Millie becomes the camp sensation, while Moxxie struggles to do her job.
The plot thickens when Blitzo finds his sister disguised as a human at the camp. It is revealed that the sister had been dealing drugs with the camp monitor, who becomes the target of Moxxie and Millie's work. The situation is further complicated when a firework accidentally explodes and kills the camp monitor.
In general, it is considered that the episode lacks cohesion and that the secondary plots are not well integrated into the main story. The lack of character development and poorly elaborated dialogues are criticized. It is concluded that the episode does not meet the expectations of the fans of the series and that it is another sign of the decadence of the series.

Yeah some parts were a little cringe like all the Moxxie parts but it was nice to see Millie have some character development and seeing Blitz's sister, Barbie Wire for the first time on screen, not including any flashbacks or background art. It's also nice to see another episode where we have an I. M. P mission. It's been awhile since we've had one of those since most of this season has been focus on the dynamic between Blitz and Stolas. Now I personally don't mind the Stolitz plot but I was still wanting I. M. P missions aside it. I disagree with the complaints of Moxxie being out of character.
I'm not gonna pretend like this is the best episode in the series, far from, and yes season 2 is worse than season 1... but this episode really isn't bad. Moxxie has been insecure before, but now he takes it out on his wife. Makes sense, nobody is perfect. Millie grew up having a normal life and for the first time is being viewed as special... makes sense. I wish the B plot with Blitzo got more time, but oh well. The jokes are what kill it for me. Pretty much all of them, especially the music numbers just suck. There were a couple that got chuckles out of me and that's all. If you think this is the worst episode in the series, no, I still think that belongs to CHERUB or Pilot. This just isn't that bad.
This show has genuinely become significantly worse in season 2 due to the terrible plotting, seeming lack of ideas and bad characters. The plot being interrupted for unnecessary validation of Millie is genuinely ridiculous. It has never been something she wanted before, it's something she has had before, how are people calling this character development. If necessary criticism is not voiced to the creator instead of the overwhelming praise of character design and animation, then this show won't become well written again. I wish more people felt this way and that I wasn't loosing interest in this brilliant world that's been set up.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaThe sinner demon who hired Moxxie and Millie to investigate and kill whoever murdered him was never referred to by name. Even his missing person fliers seen all around at Camp Ivannakummore doesn't list his name either.
