Polaroid

This is probably the best horror short by Alex Magaña that I've seen so far. It's a bit longer than his usual work, which allows for better story development and a stronger buildup of tension and suspense.

I found it especially intriguing that the ghost makes its presence known in several ways beyond just appearing in a photo. The fact that everything unfolds in broad daylight is a refreshing choice, as is the decision to move the action across multiple locations rather than keeping it confined to a single space.

The acting is solid across the board, and I really appreciated the subtle nod to Night of the Living Dead.

In graveyard, a young woman honors her late mother on day of birthday. A mate offers a Polaroid - as instrument for homework. But, after she sees a bizarre presence not far by grave, she goes.

The start of a short film, in Alex Magana style, about a skeptic young woman about ghosts and not the pleasant way to discover their presence.

High care for details, fair atmosphere, pure creepy end as result of hurry, fear and...too many windows.

In short, just nice to provocative. The recipe being familiar, not real surprises. But nice connection with reposed beloved one, fair portrait of friendship and seductive dose of unrealism.
