Clanes

Netflix released this series shortly after "Mano de hierro."

Despite a good performance by Tamar Novas, the plot ends up being implausible. After seeing Mano de Hierro, Clanes was disappointing.

Clara Lago does not shine in this role.

Despite its ending, which suggests that there will be a second season. There is no desire to see it.

Maybe a short film format could be created. The miniseries format is long and tiring to watch.

I don't recommend it at all. There are better titles if you want to see a series about drug traffickers.

Unfortunately it seems that there will be a second season.

I enjoyed this series. It was riddled with holes and inconsistencies but the pace of the action and the plot were enough to make seeing the next episode a must.

Ana's arrival should have set off alarm bells. What's a hotshot Madrid lawyer doing in a fishing town? That no due diligence was done on her on her was one of the most implausible strands. The shenanigans involving the Columbians and her departure from their premises was another.

She and Daniel made a striking couple and it wasn't surprising that their relationship developed personally as well as professionally.

Peripheral characters also had their motivations and back stories and added to the blend of intrigue.

We were left with a couple of loose ends. What happened to the port bar owners, for example? Do the people working with the cops get witness protection? These aren't cliffhangers and I don't see how a season two could come about; this was self contained.

For me, this is a recommendation.

The roles of Clara Lago and Tamar Novas are inspired by the true story of Tania Varela, a lawyer, and David Pérez Lago, stepson of Laureano Oubiña. They were both a couple and both are in prison now. This story is initially interesting, that's why I decided to watch it....but the storytelling is predictable and soapy. The relationship drama is often at the forefront and I just can't help but feel it could've been sooo much better. The season has 7 episodes, which is also too much.

This isn't a bad series. BUT it isn't anything I want to spend much time on. A shame because it's important and interesting, but not with that focus, about their sexual chemistry and relationship. Terrible choice!
