It had me moved so much, what a touching, funny and inspiaring movie. Loved it all the way!
The way the characters evolved trough the whole movie, the plot twists. The actors. Everything felt perfect for us.
I really want to see a part 2, because the endig was so funny, but yet so beautifull. The part about his 'girlfriend' was really surprising but also really sad.
The part about the man with cancers was probably the most sad movie moment I have seen this year. The way they made Thijs help the man, it really inspired me to maybe do this one day. I am sure it did inspire a lot of humans, atleast i hope it will.
What a perfect little movie.

Roadmovie with old people would be a tagline used by people without any clue about the movie. A coming to age people would be a more suited tagline, with a wink. Yes it is a roadmovie, yes it is with people at age, but most of all it is movie about people like you and I. No matter what age, you do recognize the emotions.
It is a movie with a laugh and a tear. Some typical Dutch humor without getting over the top or turn more into a slapstick which happens all to often with Dutch movies. The acting is good, the cinematics are good and even the direction is good. Inwont be surprised this movie will get an American remake.

Film that responds to the current situation of lonely elderly people and how this could be remedied.
Neem me mee is a new drama comedy directed by Will Koopman, the director of Gooische Vrouwen and The Renovation.
Six people over 70, who do not know each other, go on a trip to the south of France together. Tour guide Thijs (Minne Koole) must keep the grumpy elderly on friendly terms during the trip.
After the journey, the elderly learn that they have a lot in common. They notice that they share a lot of similar passion and annoyances. In this way, they unexpectedly manage to make new friendships and go on this journey full of adventures together.
With this film they respond well to current events, where some elderly people can feel quite lonely and alone these days. Old friends have grown apart over the years, family members have less time for them, or their health is working against them.
Young people who do it for work or as volunteers try to make the lives of older people more pleasant. To do this, they must first get to know the elderly, in order to ultimately develop a good relationship.
The cast members also portray their characters in good, believable ways. For example, they initially appear more insecure or irritated, but later in the film their personalities change after they really get to know each other.

I didn't know what to expect. But chose to stream it when I saw the actors. Apart from 'Thijs' I've known all of them and saw them on tv, in the theater or in a movie. So I knew the acting would be fine. So I was curious about the story and the editing. I was immediately drawn into the movie. The story wasn't as important as the character development as it turned out. It's about a small group road trip for elderly people organized by a young entrepreneur who's splitting up with his girlfriend.
The acting is excellent. And all characters change throughout the movie. Some more than others. I'm sure that the movie wasn't shot in a chronological order. But the way the characters developed was smooth, often subtle defined by a mere gesture, and sometimes moving as well as amusing.
It sometimes reminded me of the Coen Brothers style of storytelling. If you don't like that type (and pace) of storytelling, this is probably not for you. If you do like it you're in for a treat.

Lovely movie that touches the heart. Romantic, funny, full of wisdom and life lessons for us all. I watched it and didn't expect to like it so much. Maybe not a movie for the new generation, but recognisable situations for many are being discussed and shown. It genuinely touched my heart. A yourney through France end in friendship, laughter and tears. Strangers on a journey, who learn lessons about life and that it is not too late to really start living and enjoy life Treasure memories, make new ones and make much needed changes. But the biggest message is friendship, we all need friends and to be heard.
