The Everything Pot

The film The Everything Pot is highly recommended! I found this film to be charming, engaging, entertaining... I saw this film at the wonderful Cordillera Film Festival in Nevada and thoroughly enjoyed this indie from start to finish (packed house for the screening!). There is something in this film for everyone: humor, relationships, a little drama, and a fun storyline that keeps you leaning into these characters throughout. This one is a great date movie or good for a group of friends hanging out in the living room with a few bottles of wine, cheers to the director Sherise Dorf and her cast and crew!

I loved this movie. It's truly funny and sweet, but also makes you think. The story really spoke to me as an almost empty-nester. Lisa Edelman is relatable and adorable and funnier than you'd expect, and I loved her friendship with Gina Torres. The writing is sharp and has a lot to say about long term marriages and how easy it is to get stale, and forget what to value about them. Gots has great, zany sequences as well as some moving emotional scenes. A lot of romantic comedies are too silly or not believable but this one is the mix of smart and romantic and sexy and silly. Well worth your time.

A delightful dive into one over-enthusiastic wedding RSVP snowballing into a bright, refreshing comedy of errors. Sherise Dorf's writing is sharp and rings true. The film is well paced, with jokes and situations that keep you rooting for all the characters, as you get to know their inner motivations and complexities. Ms Dorf's writing and directing is light and funny as a comedy should be, but unlike many comedies that paint their characters in broad strokes, with The Everything Pot, you get a finer stroke and the sense these are real people living beneath the characters and situations she's created. All of which makes The Everything Pot such a fun and rewarding watch.
