Si-ho

This film caught me off guard! I watched it with it a friend thinking it was going to be a thriller / suspense film, with dark elements. The Prime video description steered us in the wrong direction!

What this film actually is, is a story about love. For the most part, it's subtle and delicate. At other times, it's hard hitting and clear in its intention to show how damaging ones actions can be, if not carefully considered.

A teenage boy named Woomin, is the main character, who develops a crush on his father's carer, Sujung. Sujung becomes unwell and woomin makes some questionable choices to try and help her. What follows is a chain reaction series of events that pull in and intertwine others, who intentions and decisions also impact and determine the continuity of the story.

What gripped me about this movie, was the warmth and softness of the characters, particularly when they their situations and the feelings driving them, became overwhelming and began to break them down.

This film moves at an Evan pace. There are no special effects, in-your face CGI or "cool" soundtracks. The softness of how the majority of the film presented, allows the feelings of the characters to be fully realised. There are scenes that impact and shock, they too are done with care and beauty.

This is a beautiful film.

I may have to watch this again. Maybe something was lost in the translation of the version on Prime that I saw.

I have questions. Are we to believe that the son did not know the identity of the mute woman? Why was the dance teacher trying to ruin her students future? Did she not think that the student in turn could have made a similar complaint and ruined things for her? Like I say, possibly lost in translation, both literal and cultural.

The acting was passable, the direction was quite poor but in the end end it was quite difficult to dislike the movie because of the soul of the mute character.

I love the concept of this movie and I love the actors and actresses in it because I know they work hard to make these.

It Did keep my attention, that's what I base reviews on if it keeps my attention instead of me stopping it and walking away and doing something 50 times. The only thing I didn't like was the storyline how they presented it and the acting I don't know if it's cuz it I really don't know because I know there's a lot of good actors in it it was just really slow and information was left out of it so this is not the first time I've come across that. I still liked it I would recommend it to people to watch.
