A tribute to missfits

As a big fan of Vox Machina. This show fully takes you into yet another world of adventure. This time around there is a bit more depth into the main characters. Whit out loseing the humor and crazy elements from Vox Machina. I salute the studio for creating yet another show that I will need to binge watch. Thank you. My only hope is now that They hurry up and have a lot more seasons ready.

Not just a redo of the game.

Series starts introducing characters where fans hadn't seen before session 0. There's a few changes here and there that I'm sure would have been argued about behind the scenes about including or removing for time limits etc. This review is after the first three, I can see a lot of passion in this work and high hopes moving forward. I feel like any issue or criticism will be lost content as the series tries to truncate hundreds of hours of game time into 10 40min episodes.

Absolute Show

I probably cannot describe all the things I think but this show has probably everything you wait from a show. I'm normally a hard picky person; the source of powers, personal background building of every person in show, the quality of illustrations... everything in this show is absolute. Do not think and consume this show.

A Must Watch! The Magic of high Fantasy!

The character development is just... wow. You watch these flawed, broken people grow, form bonds, and face their demons (literally sometimes), and it's so inspiring and real. There are epic battles, heart-wrenching moments, and plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you haven't dived in yet, do it! The Mighty Nein will make you laugh, cry, and cheer-it's glowing with creativity and heart. 10/10, would watch again and again!

Absolute Fun

The Mighty Nein is outstanding in its genre, it's hilarious while also very inspiring and intriguing. The characters are a little more in depth than Vox Machina, which I also loved. The story's premise is more complex. The Mighty Nein is well animated, in the same style as Vox Machina and the voice acting is great and inline with the characters from watching Critical Role. You can also safely ignore any bad reviews, they are just review-bombs from anti-progressives with insecure masculinity issues and also MAGA agenda bot farms.

LOVE IT! A darker/deeper more mature version of Vox Machina

Don't get me wrong-I love Vox Machina-but this series was a huge surprise for me. I decided to give it a try without knowing any details, only because my friend, who is a big Critical Role fan, told me this was his favorite DnD campaign. Honestly, I expected to be disappointed, because I was already so attached to the Vox Machina characters that I didn't see the point of introducing new characters and stories.

But man... these characters are amazing. Their emotional depth is incredible, and the way each of their stories unfolds and is directed makes it hard to look away. Another thing I love about The Mighty Nein is that, unlike Vox Machina, who were already a group of friends when we first met them, here we actually get to see how this collection of completely different people meet for the first time and gradually form bonds. It's so satisfying to watch their relationships develop. Not to mention the fact that the voice actor who plays my favorite Vox Machina character-the sassy, optimistic bard-now voices an alcoholic, depressed female goblin. Genius!

Welcome to the Mighty Nein

Nothing in life is perfect, for we are but fallible mortals, but this, this, is SO close.

Whether you're a critter, with a decade of lore, laughs, and love you're looking to relive, or someone who enjoyed the predecessor 'The Animated Adventures of Vox Machina', maybe you just stumbled upon this on Prime and wooed by the slick animation and fast paced opening scene of episode one. It doesn't matter, you're here now, and all that is left is to induct you appropriately to a wonderful show full of humour, heart and heartbreak, so... Welcome to the Mighty Nein!

Just amazing!

Omg I love the Vox Machina and I can't wait for the next season, so when I watched the first episode of The Mighty Nein without knowing anything about the series (least of all that it's done by the same company that does Vox Machina) but the short tagline, my mind was blown off!

As a D'n'D, its lore, and fantasy long-time fan and a misfit myself, I loved recognizing the in-game mechanics, spells, and guessing the d20 rolls they got for certain actions. XD

What I usually appreciate the most about the things I choose to watch is the story and character development, and this hits all marks on those! Great job! I won't compare it to Vox Machina as it's a completely different story so there's no point in that, but I'm so glad that I have found another great show from the D'n'D world, and I hope for many more to come (especially after another one of my favourite franchise-based show, Tomb Raider, was cancelled), without quality taking the second place to quantity.

I can't wait for my kiddo to grow up a bit more so that we can watch it together (didn't see the PG rating, but I hope I won't have to wait for too long)! <3.

A surprisingly emotional, fresh fantasy story, even for a total Critical Role newcomer

I went into The Mighty Nein with zero background in Critical Role. I've never watched the streams, listened to the campaigns, or seen Vox Machina. I only knew "those famous D&D guys" existed. With that context, I'm genuinely surprised by how quickly this series pulled me in.

What caught me the most off guard was the emotional weight in the relationship between Caleb and Nott the Brave (no comma!). Their early dynamic is messy, fragile, and quietly intimate in a way I didn't expect from a fantasy adventure animation. There's a particular scene early on that hit much harder than I thought it would, and I had to pretend I wasn't tearing up since I was watching it with a friend. Watching these two reluctantly take care of each other, becoming this strange and beautiful little pair of broken souls, was honestly moving.

The animation itself is strong and consistent. It isn't groundbreaking, but it absolutely does its job: expressive character acting, clear fight choreography, great visual atmosphere. It feels like the kind of art direction that supports the story rather than tries to overshadow it. As someone who plays D&D, it's delightful to catch little familiar touches: spell components, dice logic hidden in scenes, and that unmistakable "party of weirdos who barely know each other" chaos.

What makes the series feel fresh is that it doesn't follow the usual Western fantasy formula. It's messy, morally grey, and character-first. It reminded me a bit of certain Japanese anime in the way it balances humor, trauma, and emotional depth, but without ever feeling derivative. It has its own identity, and that identity leans into vulnerability and flawed humanity more than heroics.

Three episodes in, I'm honestly impressed. This feels like fantasy storytelling with personality, heart, and a willingness to go deeper than expected. If the rest of the season maintains this balance of humor, mystery, and emotional honesty, I think I'm in for something special - even as a total newcomer.

Its everything I needed

I've waited for years for this. I'll be rewatching it many many times along with the Critical Role episodes. When you have the best voice actors doing their own work, it makes for the best story. The back story in the first few episodes is key, its nice to see that and how they all come together. Yay!!!

A Masterclass in Animated Fantasy: The Mighty Nein

Amazon Prime has delivered a definitive hit with The Mighty Nein. This series sets a new benchmark for the genre, seamlessly translating complex tabletop narratives into a cohesive and gripping television experience.

The storytelling is exceptional, balancing political intrigue with high-stakes adventure. It avoids the common pitfalls of fantasy adaptations by maintaining a sharp focus on pacing and world-building without overwhelming the viewer. The plot is tight, engaging, and emotionally resonant.

However, the true strength of the show lies in its character building. The protagonists are not just heroes; they are deeply flawed, complex individuals. Watching their evolution-from a chaotic group of misfits into a found family-is incredibly satisfying. The dynamic between the group members drives the show forward more effectively than any action sequence could.

From the animation style to the voice acting and the narrative arc, everything is great about this show. It is a mandatory watch for any fan of the genre.

Critical Roll strikes again!!

Critical role hits it out of the park again with this great new series. It's full of everything that a person loves in this genre, sex, blood, guts, and gore! What sets series like The Mighty Nein apart is the rich story line and character development. I'm convinced that anything Critical Roll puts out anymore is gonna be gold.

From Incredible Livestreamed D&D to Wonderful Animated Series!

I followed every episode of the Mighty Nein campaign when it first aired and I am so attached to this crew, these characters and this world. Seeing it finally brought to life in animation, and done so beautifully, makes me incredibly happy. My friends and I spent years wishing it would become an animated series and now it is finally here. It truly feels like a success story. Even if you have never watched the campaign, the intrigue, story and character development are strong enough to hook anyone. I highly recommend it. ✨

An Expertly Wrought Adaptation

The Mighty Nein animation successfully transfers the lightning in a bottle of it's original long-form content to succinct, compelling storytelling featuring lovable anti-heroes. While many adaptations (of games, books or otherwise) suffer from being too precious or verbose, Mighty Nein hasn't been afraid to pull punches and shift plot details in service of a stronger, well-paced story. Adding in enough Easter eggs for the most diehard "Critters" to enjoy, the Mighty Nein's first season is truly one to watch!

Amazing on all accounts!

Absolutely stunning show, so much hard work and attention to detail can be felt when watching. Thoroughly enjoyed each episode. The star studded cast envelops you in each new scene. I am just so impressed with the amount of talent and passion in this project. This has to be my favorite show of the year.

Damn such a masterpiece

Critical Role has achieved something truly rare: creating a masterpiece twice in a row. After the incredible success of Vox Machina, they proved their creative power once again with The Mighty Nein. This campaign shows even greater emotional depth, more complex characters, and a richer, darker narrative. The storytelling is confident, immersive, and deeply human, balancing humor with serious themes in a natural way. The Mighty Nein is not just a follow-up-it's a confirmation that Critical Role is at the top of its craft. Two masterpieces back to back, no question. 10/10.

Cool

I really like this series; the storyline is interesting, and the characters are both lovable and exciting. The voice acting is exceptional, and the visuals are captivating. If I had to criticize something, maybe the color tones are a bit uniform, but that would just be nitpicking on my part. Even so, I rewatched some episodes several times. It really drew me in.

Critical Roll Rocks!!

This show though not the same as the podcast is awesome. Great characters excellent storytelling. If I had to complain I would ask that they slow it down. I am old I remember 23 episodes in a season. When the show is 30 is minutes I yearn for more detail like B5. But I love this and just want more of it next week please.

Excellent adaption with a refresh to keep it interesting!

To be fully transparent, I watched this when it was a D&D campaign and so there will be some inherent bias as I can't watch it as someone who is completely new to the world.

I really love this show, not just because it brings to life a world, characters and story I enjoyed but because as art it is beautiful.

The animation of magic is gorgeous, the creative ways they've incorporated "at the table" moments and unique nuances of how characters perform their spells and abilities feels so well thought out.

The sound design, the bass, the gravity they'd added in the combat or deeper moments - it all just really draws you in and pulls at the emotions to add more depth to what is happening on screen.

I can understand the accent choices not making sense to those who are completely new to these characters, but given that is how they were played at the table it was never going to change. I'd recommend the push through, if you can watch dubbed anime then this should be a cake walk.

I don't understand the reviews that call out the voice acting or actors as being poor, the cast is absolutely stacked with voice acting royalty - so I can only see these comments as just a general dislike of the accents as opposed to the talent and skill shown.

The whole point of the M9 is that it feels VERY different to VM. VM were hero's trying to do right, already an established group when we meet them. The M9 are chaotic idiots who come together accidentally as loners and don't really have better options (like the start of almost every D&D campaign), and so it's going to feel a bit wild at first.

Overall, a great show and I'm impressed with how they've added new elements or tweaked some backstory to make it new for everyone and not just non-campaign watchers!

Big vox machina fan, but I have to be disappointed on this one

The beginning is fine - it introduces the narrative and the setting clearly. After that, though, it exaggerates the same storyline. We're not heroes, but we could be; if Vox Machina succeeded, it's because the animation and characters were written with much more care, intention, and consistency. The jokes were genuinely funny, and the cast felt more driven, with better-chosen voices. Here, there are far too many characters, and everything turns into a mess. The score is a 6, out of respect for the creators and for Vox Machina.

2/10 .

A step down from Vox Machina...

The animation is pretty good in this show. So far the story seems to be coming together. However, one character "Jester" is totally insufferable. The suggestive innuendo loaded dialogue and terrible valley girl inspired accent just takes you out of what would be an otherwise interesting fantasy setting.

Must Watch

Does not matter what you know about the Mighty Nein... Or Critical Role... This is an absolute MUST watch. Everyone I have suggested this to so far has come to me and told me it is AMAZING and they cant wait for the next episode. Even those who are not into this style of animation are hooked. This is beyond my expectations for what they would do with the Mighty Nein... Thank you Critical Role and all that created this amazing masterpiece! I am so loving having the ability to reexperiance and learn anew the crazy group of misfits... The Mighty Nein (Don't forget the Traveler!)

Bloody brilliant

Must see, highly recommend and entertaining. Been a Critter since 2020. Love Critical role. Animation is clean and sharp, storyline is brilliant and not so close to the campaign. Which as a critter highly recommend for surprises. Can't wait for season 2 just now waiting for the release date. Xxxxxxx.
