I am enjoying this absolutely fresh take on Vampires led by Ok Taecyeon. He is such a treat to watch as he plays the role of a hapless vampire out if his time and comfort zone.
I must say it keeps me entertained each episode with none of the cringy scenes I see in some other dramas. I also see many theories popping up by viewers which means it's making us think and imagine what's gonna happen next. The chemistry between the 2 leads is very natural and improves with each episode. Won Jian is new to me but I am enjoying her acting a lot too.
Recommend anyone who wants a light hearted fun ride to check this out on Amazon Prime or HiTV.

This is a good fantasy story with likeable characters, comedy and refreshing writing.
It's somewhat slow, but I think well paced. The highlights are the male friendships, the back and forth between the love interests when they first meet, that both leads have a decent character arc, and the representation of honest communication/relationships. The writers didn't rely on miscommunications for drama, and seemed like they were inverting a couple of tropes in a cool way.
Unfortunately this series does not wrap up in a satisfying way. There are several plot points that are resolved in kind of a rushed manner, and the endings for the main characters were just weird and didn't make sense really. Not sure what happened in the writer's room towards the end. It's tough to recommend a series when it ends poorly, because you do get really invested in characters. Still a fun watch I would say but not one I'd necessarily recommend sadly.

I love Taecyeon acting since Bring it on Ghost, so I really wanted to like this one!
The first half of the series held so much potential, drawing viewers in with its intriguing premise and captivating characters. However, the second half turned into a disaster.
The initial episodes were great and the characters were engaging, and their dynamics seemed to be setting the stage for a compelling narrative. Wasn't a huge fan of the female lead though, too much screaming for my taste.
But then, the drama took an inexplicable nosedive into chaos. The plot became convoluted, and the once-promising characters started making choices that were completely out of character and illogical. It felt as though the writers had lost their way, throwing in random twists and turns without any regard for consistency or coherence.
The pacing, which had been steady in the beginning, became jarring and uneven. Key plot points were rushed through, while other scenes dragged on endlessly, leaving viewers both confused and frustrated.
The ending also felt like a slap in the face to anyone who had invested time and emotion into the drama and was so unsatisfying that it left a bitter taste in the mouths of viewers who had been hoping for a rewarding payoff.
In the end, Heartbeat is a perfect example of how a promising start can be utterly squandered by poor execution. The dramatic decline from an intriguing beginning to a messy and disappointing mess makes it a prime example of what happens when a drama loses its direction and fails to deliver on its potential.

You missed half of your kdrama life if you don't get to watch Heartbeat. This is not your typical romcom drama. This is farway that "globally overrated" romcom this season that's too cheesy and unbearably cliched one. Heartbeat has that interesting plot, magnificent actors especially Taecyeon. He is just so amazing on this drama. This drama proves that kiss scenes are not necessary to make our feets curl. The comedic scenes made by taecyeon is so naturally delivered that shows how good his sense of humor is in real life. You'll gonna love him here I promise you. Check this one out, you will not regret it. And Taec here is so so gorgeous.
I'm glad I endured the first 2 episodes, because the series becomes better and better-"endure" is not an exaggeration.
Taecyeon's acting is more muted than usual, and all the other actors played their parts so well that the story just flowed. Taecyeon's best friends are delightful in both time periods, the female lead was excellent using a more deadpan demeanor to visually account for her sad life, and the two supporting (2nd love interest leads) actors maintain their way of becoming part of the complicated love story without drawing attention to themselves.
It's a typical K-drama romance with trauma, tropes, and disappointed second leads. The modern day vampire twist is sometimes amusing, sometimes pathetic.
Looking for love or finding it when not looking are the real themes here. If looking for a sweet romance with occasional action, regular humor, and without annoying characters, this series might be for you.
