This is definitely one of the best (japanese) romance movies I have seen. It's also a lot more serious and mature than many others, dealing with death, grief and regret. But it's also very sweet, life-affirming and romantic, so it never gets too "heavy". The characters are charming, likeable and interesting and the direction is skillful and delicate, especially on the romance part. It's a very cozy, wholesome and meaningful film, one that could probably only come from Japan.
