Buoyancy

Rarely there has been a movie with such a good dark and chilling atmosphere. I even see this movie more as an horror movie than as a thriller because of that. "Buoyancy" is unique in many ways. The movies mood is already set right from the beginning on. The movie starts dark, intense, chilling and mysterious, a mood that is present throughout the entire movie. The mood is set by good camera work and lighting, or better said, the lack of it. The music from acclaimed composer Gareth Coker also adds to the chilling atmosphere.

Unlike many other movies from the same genre, the movie is slow paced and takes it time to develop the characters without falling into some obvious cliché's. The movie is filled with a seriously sickening torture scene, this seriously ain't no kids stuff! Dark and chilling movie that you will never forget also thanks to the ending which I will not spoil for you. A real must see. 10/10

I recently saw this short at a film festival in Los Angeles and was blown away. I have noticed it listed in other festivals as well and to no surprise it appears to be doing well. Great performances by the cast. Ryan Surratt and John Heard play off one another like the pros they are and create in incredible tension that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is gripping and action packed, especially for a short film. It left me wanting more. The cinematography and coloring really drew me in and very appropriately set the tone. This is truly a must see and I hope all good things for these great filmmakers. I look forward to seeing more from Surratt and Kemp.

This movie got me from the start. The twist and turns in this movie feel like your on a roller coaster. The actor in this reminds me of John Travolta...specifically in Phenomenon. John Heard is fantastic and very intense. You will never believe the ending. There were some beautiful shots in this film. Great original music. At one point I fell off my seat(not kidding). The cast in this film are very believable. I could tell that the actors were always "there". I forgot I was watching a movie after the first couple minutes because of the intensity and great story. I wanted this film to never end, Really enjoyed the ride on this one. This film would make a great feature.

Great film at the New Hampshire Film Festival. I'm still getting the kinks out of my neck. :)

So INTENSE and RIVITING! Best acting I have seen from John Heard in quite some time and the other guy was fantastic. Great short film.

It has this very eerie quality to it. You are not quite sure who the bad guy is until the end. I won't spoil it.

A lot of nice twists.

Great actors do the simplest uncomfortable thing in a movie it can be so effective. I think less is more. This movie is so simple but also very effective.

It'd be interesting to see where this could go as a feature film. That would be a cool indie feature!

10 stars all the way! If you can get your hands on it check it out! Surratt is an up and commer people should look out for.

I was thoroughly impressed by this film. Especially the acting. I thought the story was finely crafted. It flowed very well and really kept me guessing without confusing or boring me. I try to see as many short films as possible because I think it is a difficult medium to exhibit. As an artist myself I understand how complicated it is to create a piece of art in a limited time. This film has done that exquisitely. I thoroughly enjoyed the directing as well. The pace was perfect and though the dialogue seemed banal at first, it was extremely natural and well delivered by the actors. I have seen it 3 times now and it only gets better. Excellent work!
