Pay attention!! U & I

Pay attention! As usual this is a difficult movie for the masses to follow and a bit hard to sit through. But trust me what Uppi has shown is a universal struggle. So many things summed up from origin, present and the crumbling 🌎 i.e is U & I.

I think some people are confusing this film's as depiction as the end of the world. But This film, man, it's like a glitch in the Matrix. You think you're watching a story, but it's all a puzzle, a game. Upendra, he's playing with your mind, throwing curveballs at you every step of the way. And the dialogue, forget about it! It's all riddles and paradoxes. You gotta think deep, man, really deep, to understand what he's trying to say.

But hey, that's the beauty of it, isn't. But hey, it's a wild ride. You gotta hand it to him, he keeps you guessing till the very end. Just be prepared for your brain to take a vacation after watching i

Nope rethink!!!

Keep watching till you find your focus.

Upendra has directed a film which turns the audience wild by dividing them into lovers and detractors. As the support and hate reaches it's peak, the renowned film critic Kiran Adarsh is in a dilemma as he is unable to review the film even after watching it 4 times. He goes in search of Upendra and finds the script he worked on for the film. This takes him on the wild journey through the world's evolution put under a microscope. Is using the story as a mirror to the society is enough or are the audience intelligent enough to know what they want? As the director and his character clash on their ideologies, to drive the story, we audience have been given two choice early on - if you are intelligent, leave now. If you aren't, watch the film till the end.

This is the typical Upendra film which I was waiting for where he tries to narrate the entire world's evolution by minimizing it to a small town and minimum characters to represent the larger section, across race and religion. There is the form of Kalki, determined to end an era after knowing what humans evolution has led to. Only Upendra could reduce the tension between America and Russia down to two wives fighting with each other. The making of the film stands out with his vision coming into life with two ends of the small town having a "brain cell" in the middle. The unreleased Cheap song was an highlight on screen and it is understandable why it wasn't released before. The action scenes though prolonged add to the grandeur but it is the social commentary that stands out, especially in the final act where he rips apart the last 10 years. For the hype, it definitely delivers but the ones expecting beyond Super will be disappointed. Considering the current times, I am very happy that Upendra delivered this.

A dystopian world mixed with VFX in a crazy way

The cult director Upendra shows a dystopian world mixed with VFX in a crazy way. You need to apply 100% brain and intelligence to peel the different layers regarding the story and deeply understand what Uppi is conveying regarding the current world (Kaliyuga) and the intended world (Satyayuga). His intertwined story depicts various interpretations, from inner dark world humans co-exists, and how to come out with focus, perseverance and ignoring outside noise. His writing style is unique around Mother Nature, caste, religion, what we are doing to it, and how the world will be if we don't take care of it now. Beginning is a typical Uppi style with hilarious narration, and climax will not make you think, rather will make "YOU" and "I" (UI) to introspect further. One man show movie where people will either like it or hate it. There is "no" in between. Go for it if you like his style of story telling with insane madness!

Superb direction and cinematography

Upendra's direction and screenwriting is just mind blowing. Only he could make something this creative and unique.

Amazingly made film, great cinematography and has a great message for society.

The VFX is top notch with immersive visuals.

The film holds up a mirror to the society touching upon all modern evils and injustices.

No film has been made yet quite like this.

Upendra is in his best form and on another level altogether.

It is very intellectual in its core ideas and also appeals the mass audience with stylistic action scenes.

The sets are very well built and seem realistic Upendra is charismatic as an actor and just brilliant.

An Eye-Opening Journey between our Identity and Consciousness

Upendra's UI is a cinematic exploration that goes beyond entertainment to provoke critical reflection on the pressing social and global issues of our time. The film doesn't just focus on traditional concerns like corruption, women's safety, and environmental destruction-it expands into areas that are increasingly relevant to today's world.

One such issue is the threat of nuclear weapons. In a time when geopolitical tensions can escalate into potential nuclear conflicts, the film highlights the dangers of these weapons and the urgency of global disarmament. It raises questions about the ethics and long-term consequences of maintaining such destructive power, encouraging viewers to reflect on the need for peace and diplomacy.

The movie also explores the exploitation of natural resources, drawing attention to the growing environmental crisis. Deforestation, pollution, and the depletion of vital ecosystems are depicted as a result of unchecked industrialization and consumerism, urging audiences to rethink their role in preserving the planet.

Another significant issue the film addresses is the increasing divide between rich and poor, with social and economic inequality becoming more pronounced globally. UI explores how systemic imbalances in wealth distribution lead to cycles of poverty, poor access to healthcare and education, and a sense of helplessness for marginalized communities.

In addition, the movie touches on the rise of misinformation and the manipulation of truth in the digital age. With the increasing power of social media and mass communication, the film underscores the importance of critical thinking and responsible information consumption in shaping a more informed and just society.

Through its intricate narrative and layered storytelling, UI urges us to confront these complex issues, reminding us that the choices we make today will define the future for generations to come. It serves as a call to action, motivating viewers to be more mindful of the world around them and the social, political, and environmental challenges that demand our collective attention and responsibility.

UI - PangaNama

The UI symbol representing the "PangaNama" is truly for the audience who paid the money to watch the movie, to begin with the economics of movie making is solid. There are not any prominent artists or elaborate sets, or outdoor locations or fancy shot songs. It's very evident everything is on budget right from sub-standard movie sets to degraded animation. It's banked on the comeback of Upendra as a director and keeping the economics of movie making in-check to ensure there is good ROI derived from the movie.

As per the story telling and message - it states the facts, highlights the importance of being conscious about everything happening within us and around us, the philosophical high route of self-control and awareness are emphasised to create a utopian society with reference to 'Satyayuga" along with Mirroring the opposite that is prevailing with reference to "Kaliyuga". The Characters come alive through these opposing contrasts without any personality to drive on these ideologies making them weak and unimpactful, failing to create a strong narrative.

I want to believe that all the characters in the movie have a lot of significance as per the existing societal framework representing the power structures and its play but truly it seems very flat, even the representation of mother nature and metaphors in the movie seem more like a school play standard of storytelling, highlighting the weak screenplay and loose character positioning.

The ideologies of his aspiring political outfit Prajaakeya comes out very strongly towards the end of the movie, for a moment making an audience think" oh wait! Was this movie an elaborative rant of his party's political ideology ". There are few thoughts provoking and self-realisation reference in the movie, which fails to create any impact and seem like usual demonising of politicians, media and ignorance of common man.

As an audience - the question is, does this movie worth my money? Or should I just pay because its Upendra. I think the answer is always the latter.

Typical UPPI Movie!

Amazing movie for those who love Uppi's way for storytelling and screenplay.

Fast and quick first half.

He has covered all the sensitive topics around us and is trying to make us think before deciding or concluding.

BGM at its best Amazing screenplay (Uppi style- not common)

Colorful costumes- Uppi's trademark.

Mass Dialogues are less compared to his previous movies.

All the characters in the movie are well balanced, it more on Uppi Once again, he made sure we as audience go out of the movie hall having so many questions on ourselves and the society.

Worth spending money and time to watch.

A timely message for Indians from Uppi, but he messed up the script and direction

The movie tells the story of India and its socio-political-cultural landscape without holding back anything. I hope the movie made at least some Kannadigas to start thinking about what's happening around us. This-the message-is the best part of the movie and everything else is bad to terrible.

In the hands of pre-Super Uppi, this "message" would have turned into a sharp and clever movie. But UI comes off silly and childish, void of even a hint of classic Uppi's clever story/screenplay, wits and hard-hitting dialogues. This movie is not as bad as Uppi-2, but still much worse than Super and cannot even be compared with movies like A, Om, and his other movies from 90s to early 2000s.

I won't point out why movie's story, script, dialogues, and direction are so horrible as it will take ten thousand words. But it's a huge surprise to me, once again, that this is the same director/writer as A and other many brilliant movies from that period.

I wish to criticize Uppi on one more aspect i.e. He still seemed to have not evolved out of his very regressive thoughts about women. He doesn't come off as horrible as he was in A or Upendra, but his flawed thoughts show up in one or two scenes/dialogues (like that fruit's value dialogue). Hope he puts some thoughts into this in the future.

Exaggerated/hyped chaotic crap!

Upendra's much-anticipated film UI is nothing short of an ambitious experiment that boldly ventures into the realms of socially relevant topics including caste, politics. As expected, the film is loaded with his signature brilliance, thought-provoking ideas, and a cynical, perhaps accurate, perspective on the present and future of our world.

Personally I regret not taking his warning note seriously at the start of the movie and still daring to go watch it. My sleep deprived brain shut itself down unable to process so much chaos and dozed off in between (after a long time in theatre).

The film comes across as a chaotic concoction of innumerable ideas, with no coherent plot or narrative to hold it together. While one can appreciate Upendra's intent to overwhelm the audience with layers of messages and symbolism, the result feels disjointed and cluttered. Yet, Upendra seems to have anticipated this reaction. He cleverly positions the film as something impossible to understand in a single watch, leaving audiences debating and dissecting the meaning amongst each other.

This very chaos might be the message of the movie-that the world is descending into a mess with lack of values, and humanity, eventually leading to an inevitable downfall. If so, UI delivers this message effectively, albeit through a frustrating and cluttered medium.

Ultimately, the lack of a clear narrative and focus leaves the film feeling more like a messy collage of brilliant ideologies than a cohesive cinematic experience. Supposedly, that's the genius of UI: it forces us to reflect on the chaos of the real world and hopeless future if we don't mend our present ways.

Just Uppi things! Makes you question you conscience.

Upendra is one my favorite directors. I generally love his vision, his approach to filmmaking and the way he makes the audience think with his themes. UI is no exception. The movie questions your conscience in a typical Upendra style narrative. While all his past movies are set in the real world, UI takes a different a drastically different approach. UI is set in a fictional world that was created by a filmmaker.

You are introduced to this beautiful world where greedy politicians take advantage of the average person for their own gain. As evidenced in the trailer, people are fed media to brainwash them into subservience. How one man rises up to challenge this is what the rest of the movie is about. It'd be a disservice if I said this is the story of the movie as it goes much deeper. It is part satire, part commentary on the workings of current society, the direction humanity is heading in and even the vices that we developed along our evolutionary path going against nature and even hurting it.

It is Upendra's way of communicating this message. The format follows classic Upendra's style reverse screenplay narrative where you are introduced to the climax first. I must say this is the best movie opening act I've watched this year. The movie demands your attention to piece things together and make sense of what's going on. This is not a movie where you go to watch a linear story unfold.

Upendra touches upon the duality of things. Heavily inspired by the "Samkhya" philosophy which talks about the duality of realty. Consciousness, or the spirit, and matter, or the human mind & emotions.

The movie comments on topics like nature, conservancy, greed, politics, humanity, and society in a not-so-subtle manner. There are scenes which may make you feel uncomfortable, mainly because of Ajneesh Lokanath's background music. But the choice of music had Upendra written all over it. After all, that's his motto. A movie should make you feel uncomfortable to make you think.

While the editing could've been better as you will be scratching your head at time, it all makes sense in the end during Act 1. Yes. As I said, the movie goes in reverse for the most part. The part where I said the movie demands your attention is let down a little bit as it could not command my attention due to its editing. While crisp, I did feel the scenes could've been strung together a little better.

As with all Upendra's movies, you will either love it or hate it. But one thing is for sure, they will make you think.

The Greatness of Upendra's Direction: A Masterpiece Every Soul Should Witness

There are good movies, there are great movies, and then there are cinematic masterpieces that leave an everlasting impression on the hearts and minds of the audience. Among the countless movies I have watched, one film stands out like a beacon of brilliance-crafted under the genius direction of Upendra. To call this film merely a "movie" would be an understatement; it's an artistic revelation, a thought-provoking journey that transcends the boundaries of conventional storytelling.

Upendra, often regarded as one of the most innovative and daring filmmakers in Indian cinema, has created a magnum opus that the entire world deserves to watch. The level of intellect, passion, and creativity he brings to his work is unparalleled. His films aren't just entertainment; they are a mirror to society, an exploration of human nature, and a challenge to the audience to think beyond the ordinary.

Why This Movie Stands Out

The movie I refer to is a classic example of how storytelling should be done. Every frame is meticulously designed, every dialogue is a piece of art, and every scene carries layers of meaning that resonate deeply with the viewer. Upendra's ability to delve into complex subjects like human psychology, societal norms, and existentialism is unmatched. His unique narrative style combines wit, raw emotion, and profound messages, making his films not just a spectacle but an experience.

In this particular movie, Upendra plays with the intricacies of human relationships and the dualities of life. He forces the audience to confront their beliefs, prejudices, and hypocrisies. What sets him apart is his unapologetic approach-he doesn't sugarcoat the truth, nor does he conform to traditional storytelling norms. His direction is bold, experimental, and unflinchingly honest.

Unforgettable Storytelling

The plot of the movie is layered and multidimensional. It's not just about the protagonist's journey but also about the journey of every individual who watches it. Upendra weaves in metaphors, symbolism, and satire in such a seamless manner that the audience is compelled to think deeply. The characters are raw, real, and relatable, yet they represent larger philosophical ideas that make you question the very fabric of life.

One of the most striking aspects of the film is its unpredictability. Just when you think you have figured out the narrative, Upendra flips the script, leaving you astonished. His direction keeps you on the edge of your seat, challenging your intellect and engaging your emotions simultaneously.

The Visual and Musical Symphony

Upendra's attention to detail extends beyond the script and performances. The cinematography is breathtaking, with each shot carefully crafted to enhance the storytelling. The use of light, color, and composition reflects the emotional undertones of the scenes. The music and background score are equally impactful, blending seamlessly with the narrative and elevating the cinematic experience.

A Global Masterpiece

Why do I believe the entire world should watch this movie? Because it transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. The themes explored in the film are universal-love, ambition, identity, morality, and the eternal quest for meaning. Upendra's direction speaks a universal language, one that appeals to the intellect and soul of every viewer.

In an era where mainstream cinema often relies on formulaic plots and predictable tropes, Upendra dares to be different. He challenges societal norms and compels viewers to introspect. His work is a testament to the power of cinema as an art form-a medium that can entertain, educate, and inspire all at once.

The Genius of Upendra

Upendra's genius lies not just in his direction but in his ability to understand the pulse of the audience. He knows how to push boundaries without alienating his viewers. His films are layered with philosophical undertones, yet they are accessible and engaging.

It's rare to come across a filmmaker who can strike this balance, and Upendra does it with effortless brilliance. His vision, coupled with his unrelenting pursuit of excellence, sets him apart from the rest. Watching his movie is not just an act of leisure; it's a transformative experience that leaves you richer in thought and emotion.

Conclusion

In the vast ocean of cinema, Upendra's movie stands out as a rare gem. It's a film that redefines the very essence of storytelling and reminds us of the immense potential of cinema as a medium of expression.

If there is one movie that I would recommend to every person on this planet, it's this masterpiece by Upendra. No words can truly capture the brilliance of his direction-it's something you need to witness to understand. Upendra is not just a director; he is a visionary, a philosopher, and an artist who has given the world a timeless gift through this film. The entire world must watch it because no one, absolutely no one, can match Upendra's direction.

About this movie from my view.

Before entering to the theatre the excitement and expectations were really high.

The introduction part was also interesting and engaging but a whole plot isn't really impressive, keeping his ability to impress the audience.

This movie needs to be watched by people for a reason. It speaks about some sensitive areas and problems of our country apart from that it was really expecting to be a bit more brainstorming which really wasn't there.

It has also got some unnecessary scenes and visuals maybe to engage every type of audience.

Overall it was disappointing from someone who has very unique style of story telling.

Total Waste of Time.

Seriously what kind of movie is this.

Basically wrong representation of the kalki avatar.

The storyline as well as the acting of the cast is weird and below average.

The biggest scam is in the rating here.

The way this movie is being promoted is awfully.

The kalki avatar will first punish the writer, producers and actor's in this movie.

This movie is scar on the face of south movie.

I have seen South movie, they are master peice, their story, direction and cinematography.

But this UI movie is abit nonsense.

Believe when I say this.

Usually I don't write review.

I am forced to write because of the time this movie has wasted and warn the others not to watch.

UI (2024) - A Bold and Visually Striking Experiment, But Not for Everyone

"UI" (2024), directed by and starring Upendra, is an ambitious Kannada-language film that attempts to blend dystopian sci-fi elements with social commentary. Known for his unconventional storytelling, Upendra presents a visually striking yet complex narrative exploring power, knowledge, and their consequences on humanity.

Positives:

✅ Unique Concept & Visuals - The film experiments with a dystopian setting, featuring grand visuals and innovative cinematography. Upendra's vision is evident in the artistic and symbolic representation of the world he creates.

✅ Upendra's Performance - As both the director and lead actor, Upendra delivers a compelling performance, staying true to his eccentric and thought-provoking style.

✅ Music & BGM - B. Ajaneesh Loknath's background score effectively enhances the film's intense and dramatic moments.

Negatives:

❌ Overly Complex Narrative - The screenplay is layered with metaphors and abstract storytelling, making it difficult for mainstream audiences to connect with. Some scenes feel confusing rather than engaging.

❌ Pacing Issues - The film is lengthy, and certain sequences feel stretched, impacting the overall engagement.

❌ Mixed Reception in Hindi Market - While the film had strong anticipation, it failed to make a mark in the Hindi-speaking regions, struggling at the box office.

Verdict:

"UI" is a bold attempt by Upendra, staying true to his experimental style. While it offers thought-provoking themes and stunning visuals, its convoluted narrative may not appeal to all audiences. If you enjoy abstract cinema with deep symbolism, you may appreciate it. However, for casual viewers, it might feel overwhelming.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) - For fans of experimental and thought-provoking cinema.

Totally rubbish

The movie I watched was an absolute disappointment, a dull and illogical mess that failed on every level. The plot was incoherent, riddled with clichés and glaring holes that insulted the audience's intelligence.

Characters were flat, unrelatable, and made baffling decisions that defied logic, while the dialogue was cringe-worthy and devoid of any wit or depth. The pacing dragged unbearably, making the runtime feel like an eternity, and despite a few visually decent scenes and an average background score, these elements couldn't redeem the overall failure. Promoted as an exciting and intelligent film, it betrayed audience expectations entirely, leaving me frustrated and questioning why it was made at all.

Save yourself the time and energy-skip this movie and invest in something far more worthwhile.

Do not attempt to get it the motion picture, attempt to get it the message given. Fabulous Course.

Upendra's UI is such a work of craftsmanship, which legitimizes the saying that he is the "Christopher Nolan of Indian cinema". Tons of logic-defying brilliance are within the film's novel thoughts and headings, in this way invalidating the claim that Indian movies are no coordinate for their Western partners. I can't offer assistance but accept that in case UI was a standard American motion picture it would have picked up the same status and commanding intrigued from pundits on the worldwide scale. UI challenges the routine thought forms of the group of onlookers by tending to touching themes like legislative issues, caste and religion without making it a mere discouraging film. The primary twenty minutes are so manufactured that they incite intrigued and the marvelous conclusion is completely extraordinary. So it is emphatically prescribed to skip the trailers and the spoilers. Upendra's foreknowledge is vital to say the slightest and UI is show of his extraordinary creative ability.

As a common person and to take some initiative towards stoping unwanted things happening with us, others wise nature will take action and every thing will be wanissh soon. And be positive persone think commly to come out of any critical situation. It's better to appreciate his thoughts. And we should encourage such director. Once again it's worning message for us. "Unveiling 'UI': Upendra's Cinematic Journey into Self-Discovery and Social Satire"

Upendra, through his unique directorial vision, compels us to question, to introspect, and to ultimately seek our own liberation. He masterfully portrays the complex lives of people and the intricate games played by those in power. He is truly a visionary, and "UI" is a testament to his ability to craft thought-provoking cinema that resonates deeply with the audience.

"UI" is not just entertainment; it is a wake-up call. It's a call to celebrate original thinkers and directors like Upendra, who dare to challenge the status quo and inspire us to build a better future-a future where we are the architects of our own destinies.
