    Well done

Japanese drama with some touches of comedy about a brilliant female freelance surgeon who as the introductory narration explains, hates authority, groups, and constraints. She is not a very sympathetic character. But as someone asks earlier on, if you had to have surgery performed on you, would you prefer someone who knew what they were doing, or someone with the right things to say. The series gives what I assume is a true insight into the political infighting, and fight for power that goes on in large city hospitals. It also exposes the incompetence of some doctors, and such things as gratuities, and patients with the pull being given priority over others. To me though the real heroine of the series is not Ryoko Yonekura as the lead character, but Yuki Uchida as another female doctor.

The Freelance surgeon who "doesn't make mistakes"

Freelance surgeon Dr. Daimon Michiko struts into a University hospital, is mistaken by the administrator for a sleazy Roppongi bar hostess, and takes on the most difficult case. Displaying an independent air gained from hard won experience in third world clinics and hospitals, Dr. Daimon refuses to do anything that doesn't require a doctor's license, from secretarial duty to golf games and leaves work promptly at 5 p.m. As she blows past the institution's cliques and hierarchy, the staff becomes infuriated as patients are cured one after the other. Her representative, Dr. Jonouchi Hiromi, who may be the real (failed)"Doctor X," submits an exorbitant bill and a melon to the institution, which usually leads to a senior staff shakeup. In between surgeries, Dr. Daimon rests at Dr. Jonouchi's physician's exchange, losing game after game of Mah Jong.

House MD on Steroid and High Heels

I am a big fans of House MD (10/10), getting recommended from my friend to watch this, and get hooked in an instant.

Don't get me wrong, it is nothing like House MD which requires multiple interpretation of finding the message of layers of story, on contrary in Japanese's way of telling story is very subtle and simple (zen and haiku), but still leave you a wisdom to cherish at the end of each episode.

The situation comedy sometimes distract the story line, which I would give 10/10 without it.

    EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING

I thought "Gokusen" was impressive for lasting three seasons but it's a flash-in-the-pan compared to the six for this show. And though I've only seen the first, I am absolutely on board for more. The show is based on a fictional premise ( no evidence in real life according to Dr Google ) whereby a freelance Japanese doctor is represented by an agency & can be hired out to a hospital as required. Hence we meet Dr Michiko Daimon ( Ryoko Yonekura ), a terse, self-confident surgeon who arrives at a branch hospital & proceeds to tell all the resident staff ( mostly male ) exactly what she thinks. Her oft-repeated motto when the conservative opposition baulks is "I never fail". And it seems to be true. We do love to see a talented outsider disrupt the status quo & Doctor X is even happy to look the esteemed old Director of the hospital in the eye & tell him he's stupid. The script presents interesting cases amid the inevitable staff politics, & the initially aloof title character is gradually humanised ( a lovely ep involving a child patient does the trick nicely ). The supporting roles are well-written & there's humour to balance the drama, while the direction is efficient & the visuals are good. Same for the music. And the ending is well done, nicely avoiding excessive sentimentality. Former model Ms Yonekura makes a formidable impression despite her cute failings at mah-jong. A fierce desire to be the best almost makes patient welfare an afterthought, though her intolerance for obtuse colleagues is never in doubt. The concept of patients "tipping" a surgeon after a successful operation with an envelope full of cash ( apparently true ) is also intriguing when compared to what we're used to in the West.

    Amazing show !!

Everything is great about this show, i mean evergthing. Kinda obsessed with it !! Hoping for more seasons to come. All characters played great role, The role for Dr daimon is unbelievable and definately it should be coz of handling the lead role, but the other people also created a very good scene, which makes to enjoy the whole show, Emotional / happiness is there in it. And definately it gives some kind of vibe which touches the heart.
