IN A NUTSHELL:
Hi, ghouls! This a family-friendly movie for the kids to get in the "safe" spirit of Halloween. Our favorite monsters from the first Monster High are back, entering their Sophomore year in school with colorful costumes, monster puns, musical numbers, and a new villain and threat to the world.
The film was directed by Todd Holland, who also co-wrote it with Matt Eddy and Billy Eddy.
THINGS I LIKED: If you haven't seen the first movie, you'll be caught up to speed within the first few minutes.
I love that it's a musical. The songs are catchy, performed by talented teens.
The monster costumes and characters are well defined and entertaining.
The choreography is cute.
There's a twist. Ooooooh!
The talented cast includes Miia Harris, Nayah Damasen, Ceci Balagot, Salena Qureshi, Case Walker, Marci T. House, Jy Prishkulnik, and more!
Rather than just being singing monsters, it was fun to see many of them use their special powers.
Keep watching during the final rolling credits to see some behind-the-scenes footage.
If you enjoy this cute franchise, you'll be happy to know the film ends with a cliffhanger, alluding to ANOTHER sequel.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE: If you don't like puns, beware.
It's very goofy.
Because more time was spent on character development in the first movie, we don't learn much about the various monsters in this one.
TIPS FOR PARENTS: Lots of farting and belching Some violence One of the characters is played by a Trans/non-binary actor.
Some French is spoken without subtitles.
Parents will approve of all the lessons taught.

The first Monster High movie got a lot of attention, but man, did no one watch this one. This has only a handful of reviews and almost all of them seem to be from people involved in making the film. As someone who had no part in making the film, just someone who watched it (or attempted to watch it), let me just say it is a terrible, terrible film.
I watched the first film from start to finish. (You can check out my review, where I go in-depth). And while the first film was bad, it was at least watchable. And it did have some good points (albeit few). The songs were bad, but they at least sounded like they belonged in a movie. The plot made no sense, but at least it was paced decently in a three-act format.
THIS film, however, was so bad it's bad. Unwatchable. My friends and I barely made it past the half-hour mark before we all agreed we needed to turn it off. We didn't even have anything to say about it due to how boring it is.
Again, my title. It's literally a movie about teenage monsters who sing and dance. And it ended up too boring to finish. How is that even possible?! I couldn't think of a more potentially engaging concept for a movie. It could have at least been bad in a campy way, but no.
It was paced horribly. We made it to thirty minutes and nothing happened except: 1. Deuce said he POTENTIALLY COULD leave Monster High. He's thinking about it but hasn't made a decision either way 2. Clawdeen made the decision to run against Torelei for class president, which really doesn't matter all that much to the plot. Nothing happened regarding the campaign except Clawdeen made some posters 3. Draculaura met a really shady guy who is POTENTIALLY a love interest for her. He told her he is a human witch and they proceeded to do a really terrible two-person dance sequence which is the moment we had to turn it off
I don't recommend anyone watch this movie due to how boring it is. But due to the lack of attention I think no one wanted to watch it anyways.

This movie is phenomenal! It has such great storytelling and it was easy to digest aswell. Monster high means a lot to me and this movie did the entire brand justice. Especially after all the negative comments and reviews about generation 3. I loved watching it with my friend. The new songs is amazing and the visuals and acting has improved SO much in this movie! I won't spoil much but I was crying so hard halfway through the movie. This one is better than the first in so many ways. If you're having doubts after the first movie I really do suggest watching the second! It truly steps up from the first!
I love the first movie, I have watched it multiple times. But the new movie Monster High 2 brought something into it that I totally dislike, Politics. America has enough political nonsense as it is without adding it into a family movie. Other than the political aspect of the movie I think it is great. It brings to light what was meant at the end of the first movie in regards to witch craft. The actresses and actors in the movie do an awesome job, the dancing, choreography and singing brings the movie to life. The best thing I like about these movies is that there is not any dead space, both movies keep you watching intently because you don't want to miss anything.
Better than the last movie. Monster High 2 is funnier, scarier, and more entertaining! The cast of amazing monsters return to battle evil forces that threaten their very existence, as well as Monster High. Frankie, Clawdeen, and Draculaura join forces to defeat a powerful enemy. With new songs, dance sequences, heart, and love, Monster High 2 doesn't disappoint. If you're a fan of Monster High, you'll love this movie. It makes you smile as you cheer on this incredible cast of characters; you'll feel like you're visiting old friends, as the coolest ghouls face a new enemy. Frankie Stein is the highlight of this film, with witty dialogue and an electrifying love for their friends. It's beautiful and diverse, showcasing how important friendships are, no matter what. Total A+
