Beloved Swedish classic novel “The Scarab Flies at Dusk” is being adapted into a premium family adventure series produced by Nordic Drama Queens, the top-notch production label backed by Fifth Season.

Swedish broadcaster Svt has already commissioned the show whose starry cast will be led by Tomas von Brömssen (“My Life as a Dog”), Pernilla August (“‘The Best Intentions”) Dag Malmberg (“The Bridge”) and Lena Endre (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”). Fifth Season is handling worldwide sales on the series and is introducing it to potential buyers attending the Göteborg Film Festival’s TV Drama Vision.

“Afterglow” filmmaker Atle Knudsen will be directing the series, which is penned by celebrated authors Ditta Bongenhielm (“Bonus Family“) and Lovisa Milles (“Jordskott“).

There’s been talk of a remake of 1980 horror classic The Changeling for quite some time now, but it’s moved one step forwards to becoming a reality this week with the announcement of a director in the form of Finnish filmmaker Anders Engström.

The story follows a composer who moves from New York to Seattle following the deaths of his wife and daughter in a traffic accident, renting a long-vacant Victorian mansion. Soon afterwards, he begins experiencing strange phenomena that lead him to suspect the house is haunted, while each occurrence pushes him further towards uncovering the mystery of what happened in the building a lifetime previously.

The Nordisk Film & TV Fond is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a new CEO at the helm: Writer, producer and chair of the Ebu Fiction Expert Group Liselott Forsman.

This week, the executive heads to the Göteborg Film Festival as one of the event’s key figures. There, she will preside the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize ceremony and introduce this year’s jury: Actor Moa Gammel, actor Jakob Oftebro journalist Cecilie Asker of Norway’s Aftenposten, and producer-director Dariusz Jablonski. Five Nordic drama series will compete for this year’s prize of Nok 200,000.

My initial reaction to both films was a sort of shame, as if somewhere deep inside of me, I understood the impulse that impelled both these women to venture into forbidden zones of action, but wished it had not depicted it so graphically. Vietnam’s Fpt Telecom focused on drama. It acquired “Victoria” (seasons 1-3) and all five seasons of “Poldark,” both of which are produced by Mammoth Screen. It also bought Scandinavian thriller “Jordskott” (seasons 1 & 2), Canadian comedy “Little Dog” (series 1 & 2) and “Jekyll & Hyde.

Eccho Rights, a leading sales company in Sweden, is set to ramp up its executive team with the hiring of Lisa Widén, a former head of production at Film Capital Stockholm whose co-production credits include “Before We Die” and “Jordskott.”

At Eccho Rights, Widén will be handling sales and acquisitions for Scandinavia. She will continue to work on the development of Scandinavian drama series, which have become key to Eccho Rights’ offering. Within the last two years, Eccho Rights has sold high-profile series such as “Honour,” “Conspiracy of Silence” and “Invisible Heroes.”

Eccho Rights’ track record also includes the sale of four Turkish drama series to Swedish public broadcaster Svt.

Nent Group’s Nordic streaming service Viaplay has boarded “With One Eye Open,” partnering Twelve Town and Nice Drama on the Swedish drama series which brings a fresh look to Swedish and Russian ties.

The eight-part series is based on Martin Österdahl’s “Ask No Mercy,” the first of three books in the Max Anger suspense trilogy.

First pitched at Lille’s Series Mania in May, the project is set in 1996 Saint Petersburg on the run-up to Boris Yeltsin’s election. Max Anger, a former attack diver for the Swedish navy now works for think tank Vektor, set up to help Swedish companies open up shop in Russia. When his Russian/Swedish girlfriend suddenly goes missing, while investigating a neo-Stalinist plot against Sweden, he goes on a mission to rescue her and at the same time, uncovers secrets about his own past.

Sweden’s Dramacorp, the Patrick Nebout-Beta Film joint venture, has come on board “Cyptid,” a Swedish horror thriller series created by up-and-coming Swedish director Daniel Di Grado and French-Belgian comicbook writer Sylvain Runberg.

The 10-part half-hour series will be helmed by Di Grado, who previously directed “Alena,” the series based on Kim W. Andersson’s award winning comic which played at Sitges, and most recently directed an episode of the fantasy series “Jordskott.” Runberg, who co-created “Cyptid,” is best known for adapting the three opus of Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” into popular graphic novels and just co-wrote “Millennium: The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest.”

“Cyptid” takes place in a high school located a Northern Scandinavian village in the aftermath of the horrific murder of a student. The crime reveals the presence of strange creatures lurking in the nearby lake.

It didn't specify the size of the stake or the price tag.
