I was expecting a purely porn movie but this is an exquisite love story for multiple characters with many contrasts and perplexing dilemas. Porn (soft core) is a core part of the story but it is not THE story. It is tastefully and accurately integrated into Rocco's life story. However this is definitely an Adults (18+) only movie!
The scenery and characters are beautiful! The story takes place in Italy, France, and Los Angeles. The movie is in Italian language but over dubbed in English - hardly noticeable. I will watch it again in Italian. It was very engaging emotionally. As I mentioned, the sex is an outcome of Rocco's story, not the only reason for the movie. I have never seen a "Porn" movie of this caliber and depth before.
The acting by the main characters is good. The Directors have accurately portrayed Rocco's life story, without the movie feeling like a Documentary or Biography. The subject matter has a seamy and sometimes distasteful side but the Directors do not dwell on that or emphasize it. It is all part of the story.
The movie was a surprise. I did not expect to be drawn into a 7 Episode Italian Mini-Series. It is engaging and tastefully presented. The cinematography is outstanding. This genre is unique. I have not watched the last 7th episode yet. Hopefully, the conclusion is done as well as the rest of the series.
If you have the time and want to try a different kind of good movie, give Supersex a shot. By the way, the title seems to portray a XXX Porn movie but this is not. The title is a key ingredient of Rocco's life story.

This TV series is loosely based on the life of Italian pornstar Rocco Siffredi (born Tano). It's not a biopic, and as Siffredi stated, "it is based on me, but this is certainly not my life."
Supersex was the name of a photo magazine first published in France and then in Italy, from the end of the 70s to the mid-90s. Supposedly, it affected Siffredi at a young age, leading him to idolize porn and pursue a career in the porn industry.
The first couple of episodes are reminiscent of 'Malena' with Monica Bellucci. There are some very attractive women, idyllic scenery, and family values that lead to serious conflicts, initially resembling a European movie from the 80s.
This is not an erotic TV series. The producers didn't aim for sensuality, and the many nude or sex scenes don't convey that vibe at all.
The actors portraying actual persons look the part and do their best to give a sense of authenticity to the behavior and mannerisms of those individuals.
There isn't an explicit moral statement in this series. Porn is initially romanticized, but soon it becomes evident that it's just another job with its own set of rules and challenges. There is an underlying ideology, like freedom, but ultimately, it's about money, fame, and serving the industry.
Overall: If you're bored of the usual Netflix TV series, give it a chance. It's not offensive or pornographic.

Mesmerising, excellent character development, you feel and connect with all the characters, the language makes it even more powerful, the sec scenes complement the film and they don't feel 'raunchy' but part of the story. I binged it and now I miss Rocco and the series. I strongly recommend it. More than it says on the tin.
Each episode has depth and ads a lot to the story, you really feel like you are following a person and a family through an entire life. You also feel the agony and the despair, you really feel for Rocco and love him deeply. The female characters are strong and give a feminist perspective without diminishing the male characters. Masterful directing.

Most people probably expected some kind of weird celebration of the most famous italian porn icon... And got exactly the opposite. A 100% serious dramatization of Rocco's life - a very hard one, pun intended. Very well directed and acted (not an easy task at all). Not everything Is faithful to the real events, but Rocco was involved and the important meaning and message is there. Best surprise of this 2024, so far. Ignore the negative review s, most of them (check) come from people simply disliking the subject and watched 1 episode or less (don't understand why they feel entitled to review It, frankly).
I don't even know what drew me to the show (oh well probably the title) but I definitely didn't expect such a great quality show. I watched it in Italian and the actors were all great - top notch really. I'm still not 100% sure what the point of the story was to be honest but I just enjoyed watching it as a whole as the delivery was just that good. I don't think the dude had the most interesting life (most details were probably a little embellished) but it was just a glimpse into a different world which I really liked. And a bonus : even though this is a Netflix show, it wasn't the typical "we need to include everything and everyone " kind of spiel which I'm just so tired of. So definitely give this a Chance!
