You tend to miss many movies because of the surrounding noise, which often comes from largely negative reviews. I skipped this one for that reason, and now I regret it. I went by the opinions without watching it, but the film is actually quite the opposite of what I expected.
The story revolves around a woman from northern Kerala who aspires to become a football commentator. It explores how this male-dominated profession, her religion, her middle-class life, and her small-town background create obstacles for her. However, she succumbs to none of these challenges, and that's what the story is about.
It's an interesting plot, presented in a light-hearted manner. Typically, a film like this would be laden with drama, feminism, or heavy dialogues, but that's exactly where it stands out. It delivers its message clearly and simply, connecting with the audience on a personal level. Every character is well-etched, making it easy to relate to them emotionally.
Kalyani Priyadarshan finally gets a movie where she takes center stage. She fits the role of the talkative, bubbly girl-next-door well, but she falters in emotional scenes and, most notably, doesn't quite impress as a commentator. She tried her best, but if another actress like Nazriya had taken the lead, this movie might have scored higher. Sudheesh, as her father, was perfect-easily the best performance in the movie. Sabumon Abdusamad, playing a character with a negative tint, also did his part well, making you feel genuinely angry at him.
A standout scene is when Fatima's father forcefully takes her back, but the way her character reacts to the situation calmly avoids clichés. Special mention should go to costume designer Dhanya Balakrishnan, especially for Kalyani's wardrobe, which is stylish and beautiful yet perfectly aligns with her character. The background music also blends well with the narrative. Director Manu C. Kumar shows potential, and I'd love to see more of his work.
It's definitely a movie you'd enjoy watching with your family. If you're looking for something light, add this to your list.

I saw this movie on Netflix today after seeing many positive reviews. A well-made movie. Movies like this deserve a good turnout in theaters, but sadly, that's not happening these days.
Kalyani Priyadarshan has come a long way and in this movie we saw a Kalyani smashing the matured role she had. I liked the way she managed the nuances of the character which she played in the movie. Supporting actors were also fine throughout.
As mentioned above, movies like this should attract an audience, but I guess due to less promotion, people are not hearing enough about movies like this. Good promotions should be done to promote movies like this.

I always been loving Kalyani. She is so cute . Since, Hello movie i'm big fan of her. Sesham Mikeil Fathima, directed by Manu C Kumar, is a chirpy, loud movie but a half-hearted attempt at exploring the aspects of a girl from a conservative background achieving her dreams. It failed to explore real conflicts in depth and took the easy way out with a family that is flexible to an extent which is often not the reality. And that makes it a regular formulaic movie and nothing out of the ordinary.
The story revolves around Fathima (Kalyani Priyadarshan), a wide-eyed, bubbly aspiring football commentator whose biggest supporter, initially, is her brother, played by Aneesh. Her father (played by Sudeesh) is a former footballer. She grew up watching and understanding football and has a habit of chattering wherever she is. Later, she decides to pursue a career as a football commentator and arrives in Kochi from Malappuram. What follows forms the crux of the film. The script falters after a point and her journey is something that has been seen in similar films before. There is nothing very relatable about her 'struggle'. In fact, at one point the character is written in such a way that she gets annoying. The journey seems very superficial and uses many elements that have been seen in poorly done sports movies featuring women characters before. Femina George's character as the 'friend' or more like a sidekick, was fine. Shaheen Siddique's role was that of a grumpy depressed football player facing a ban. He again, didn't have much to do.
Hesham Abdul Wahab's music adds to the jovial atmosphere Fathima sets whenever she appears on screen but even the most joyful appearance can't uplift a film without a strong script.
Verdict: Hit.

Torturous ! That is what this movie is ! This could be used as the ultimate weapon by FBI or CIA or our own NSI - if you played this and forced any hardened terrorist to watch this, they will say anything and everything within 45 mins !
Leave aside the stupidly thin script and cringe sequences and acting - the BGM, sound design, casting ( most of the leads could get the accent correct, play the nuances right or be believable - let alone be convincing ! )
I have to be honest - I stopped watching half way and read the story in forums - I am glad I did - the second half is worser than the first ( and First was so horrible I stopped watching )

Confession time: We're not big Kalyani Priyardarshan fans, buuuut she rocked this film😃
-The movie's synopsis was already interesting 'cos it made you wanna find out who was this daring girl wanting to become a commentator. It was an original plot
The story started smoothly by inviting us into her world right from a young age. We got to understand when her nonstop chatter started and got to experience the kind atmosphere in her family and neighborhood.
You could tell that Manu C Kumar was intentional about every scene as he wanted us to love and sympathize with Fathima, and we did!
-Loved the colorful images and close-up shots that added more flavor to the storytelling. The moment when Fathima did her first football commentary was phenomenal😍 Kudos to the sound engineers!
-Apart from the themes of perseverance and courage, it was special that Fathima insisted on fighting for her dream in a passive way. She was never disrespectful and never encouraged being aggressive contrary to her friend Solomon
Additionally, she mastered her passion. She went the extra mile by studying the science of sports, and that was very encouraging to see.
Thank you to the cast and crew for such a wonderful experience.
