The Cherokee Word for Water

This movie will not win any major academy awards. This movie is infinitely better than most produced by hollywood. Any deficiencies in acting or production values are more than compensated for by the messages of hope and inspiration.

As a Native American I will stick with the movie "Smoke Signals". I thought this movie seemed as though everyone were reading directly from a script and this was the rehearsal. Absolutely no offense, as I liked Kimberly Norris-Guerrero in the Seinfeld episode however, she looked too old to be playing a mother of younger teens in this movie. In addition, everything seemed contrived and fake. I know Wilma Manklller's awesome story but I couldn't watch this and believe it. I wish I could get back my $3.99 rental. Wilma Mankiller's story deserved better than this. It's tragic that our stories are so low budget that we can't attract better actors and better writers.
