Melissa Roxburgh, famous for her role as Mick Stone on Manifest, is stepping into a new spotlight. Her upcoming NBC crime drama, The Hunting Party, has had its premiere date moved up, catching attention with its fast-approaching debut.

Roxburgh, who also appeared as Lieutenant Ellen Grier in Quantum Leap and Dr. Dory Shaw in Tracker, will lead this series as her first main role since Manifest.

According to TVLine, The Hunting Party will now premiere its first episode on Sunday, January 19, at 7 p.m. Et. This early preview will be followed by the show’s regular slot, with an encore presentation on Monday, February 3, at 10 p.m. Et. After that, new episodes will air weekly on Monday nights. NBC seems to be banking on this strategy to build early momentum for the series.

The series, created by JJ Bailey, who is also working on Getaway, follows Roxburgh’s character Bex Henderson.

Players will now be able to track recipes and duties on-screen as they gather ingredients, revealing the latest Developer's Update video on the Disney Dreamlight Valley YouTube channel. A new slasher comedy film is coming to Shudder in 2025 and even better, it's from writer Nick Frost, who fans likely know best from his work in the Cornetto trilogy starring alongside Simon Pegg. Frost has been in all three films, starting with Shaun of the Dead (which turned 20 this year!).

His next project, Get Away, is a Sweden-set slasher movie following the Smith family on a vacation that goes terribly wrong when they realize they're stuck on an island with a serial killer. So, in a way, it's kind of like an island-set Trap.

Previously titled Svalta, the new title is far more fitting, featuring a clever play on words, though Svalta is the title of the island where the family vacations.

British comedic icon Nick Frost is returning to the horror-comedy genre with Get Away, which has now found two new homes with IFC and Shudder. As reported in an exclusive from Variety, Get Away will be distributed in theaaters by IFC on December 6th, 2024, followed quickly by a streaming debut on the horror-centric streaming platform of Shudder some time in 2025. Get Away will also be holding it's world premiere at the 2024 Fantastic Fest this September.

Back in 2022, it was announced that Fighting with My Family co-stars Nick Frost and Lena Headey were going to reunite to work on the serial killer thriller Svalta, which was set to start filming in Finland soon… but then Headey had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues before it started rolling in 2023 and was replaced by Aisling Bea, whose previous credits include This Way Up, Living with Yourself, and Home Sweet Home Alone. Now a press release has revealed that IFC Films and the Shudder streaming service have acquired the North American distribution rights to Svalta, which is now going by the title Get Away, and the plan is that IFC Films will be giving the movie a theatrical release on December 6th. Get Away will then make its way over to Shudder sometime in 2025.

Get Away was directed by Steffen Haars (New Kids Turbo) from a screenplay Frost wrote himself.

Described as a comedic slasher movie, Get Away from director Steffen Haars has been acquired by IFC Films and Shudder for release later this year, Variety reports this afternoon.

The film was previously titled Svalta, and it’s hitting theaters from IFC Films on December 6, 2024. Variety notes in today’s report that Get Away will slash into Shudder in 2025.

Get Away will first premiere at Fantastic Fest in September.

Written by and starring Nick Frost, the film follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family.

IFC Films and Shudder, AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural programming, announced today that they have acquired the North American rights to Steffen Haars’ comedic slasher movie, “Get Away.” The film, which was previously titled “Svalta,” was written by Nick Frost (“Paul”), who also stars alongside Aisling Bea (“This Way Up”) Sebastian Croft (“Heartstopper”), and newcomer Maisie Ayres. The film will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2024 in September. It will then be released exclusively in theaters on Dec. 6, 2024, followed by its Shudder debut in 2025. Like Shudder, IFC is a division of AMC Networks.

“Get Away” follows a family’s vacation to a remote getaway. The trip takes an unexpected turn when they discover the island they’re on is inhabited by a serial killer.

​​The film is financed by XYZ Films. The company produced the film alongside John Hegeman of Wayward Entertainment, Lee Kim of Resolute Films and Frost.

Many filmmakers have attempted to copy the success of the Fast & Furious franchise, but few have succeeded in capturing its essence. Movies like Need for Speed, Biker Boyz, and Torque imitate the high-speed stunts and criminal underworld of Fast & Furious, but fall short in creating cohesive narratives and emotional resonance. Popcorn Frights Film Festival announced today its juried and audience awards that were selected from its lineup of 119 films (51 features and 68 shorts hailing from 20 different countries) in 8 categories.

This year, the jury panel, composed of national media figures and local filmmakers, elected to honor Brandon Christensen’s The Puppetman with the Jury Prize for Best Feature Film. Christensen previously secured this award on his 2021 feature Superhost.

Christensen said in his award acceptance, “Holy shit! Popcorn Frights has always been an important stop for every one of my films to date. I’ve met tons of amazing fans of horror who come out every time to support our films as well as the Florida horror community.
