Sometimes the worst thing isn't a monster or a catastrophe, but becoming the center of attention when you least expect it. That's exactly what happens to Mabel in I Went Viral, a comedy that plays with the nightmare of public humiliation and how quickly everything can spiral out of control once social media decides you're their new toy.
The film relies heavily on Blanca Suárez, and she delivers. She's the heart of the story, carrying us through Mabel's spiral of disasters that mix tenderness, anger, and desperation. It's easy to put yourself in her shoes, because anyone would feel the same: the shock of losing control, the fear of not being able to stop the snowball, and the sadness of realizing no one is there to help when you need it most.
The tone is light and a bit crazy, full of recognizable beats: everyone seems glued to their phones, and it takes just a few seconds for someone's life to implode. The script doesn't reinvent comedy, but it knows how to play its cards. Some moments are genuinely hilarious, while others carry a touch of melancholy. Cristina Gallego steals scenes with her sharp one-liners, Daniel Fez brings a surreal vibe that fits perfectly, and Miguel Rellán gives the film both warmth and some of its funniest moments.
Director Jorge Coira, more known for thrillers, keeps the pace tight and the story engaging. Not every risk pays off, but at least he tries to avoid the cookie-cutter feel of most comedies and give the movie a bit more personality. That alone makes it stand out.
Nobody will call this the comedy of the year, and honestly, it doesn't need to be. What matters is that it entertains, gets plenty of laughs, and captures that unsettling feeling of being exposed online. It won't change your life, but it does make you wonder how you'd handle things if you were stuck in Mabel's nightmare.
All in all, it's fun, relatable, and has just the right amount of bite. A comedy that works better than it looks and reminds us that sometimes the funniest thing is seeing how someone else's mess reflects our own lives.

This is a film in sitcom style about social networks. The protagonist is Mabel (finely played by a nice Blanca Suárez), an event organizer who is about to take the trip of a lifetime with her husband, a not very successful actor named Javi (Nicolás Furtado). The problems begin on the plane, when Mabel overdoes her first-class seat with the free drink and ends up committing a mistake... which leads her to another mistake while she finds a surprise on her husband's cell phone and subsequently becomes a ¨Trending Topic¨. As Mabel has gone viral. And in the least desirable way possible.
Comedy with enough resources to create a crazy mess that in the end ends up being quite bland, but it is appreciated that it does not include crude humor, nor too many sexual and other references in bad taste. Developing some silly and improbable situations full of black humor, but without the ideal rhythm for a crazy background, sometimes showing cold and forced situations, and concluding the story in a very comfortable way. It begins with the classic affair of a frustrated vacation during a flight to Polynesia, and a couple's disagreement that ends up echoing on social networks, as she unlocks her sleeping husband's cell phone with innocent intent, but what she finds is proof of infidelity. This fact should guide the plot to the satire of the current nonsense with the masses, gathered from anonymity in networks, converted into harsh judges of a nonsense that ends in tragedy. There are certain sparks without histrionics, and the plot moves with agility but with its ups and downs. Stars Blanca Suárez who does quite well as the jinxed young woman who finds herself involved in a lot of problems when she becomes a trending topic on the massive social networks, while Nicolás Furtado is her adulterous husband and Enric Auquer is discreet as her new suitor, providing a serious-comic character, the latter was much better in his previous film 'La vida padre' junto con Karra Elejalde. But Luis Rellán is the one who really steals the show as the shameless father who finally finds his redemption.
The motion picture was mediocre but professionally directed by Jorge Coira, containing some flaws, gaps and a lot of unlikely incidents . Coira explains: ¨There are few things healthier than having a laugh, and there are few things more fun than the shame of others". Coira is a good craftsman who has made several TV episodes from known series as Piratas , Pelotas , RIS Cientifica , El Comisario , Padre Casares , Hierro, Rapa and Se quien eres . And directing ocassionally for cinema as El Año de la Garrapata, Torre de Breoghan, 18 comidas and this Me he hecho viral(2023) . Rating : 5.5/10 . Acceptable and decent youthful comedy.
