Jon and Lucy have this strange gimmick through various shows that they are unhappy and dislike each other even though as time passes they've had a child and are.. still together, whilst early it was amusing now it's a bit redundant.
They did a new years show that was one of the worst things I've ever seen on tv, to say a real married couple have no chemistry is sad but on screen they just don't click. Lucy especially is not good at all, the pretending to be stupid stuff is overplayed and insulting and although she can write well I think she's definitely better off screen.
Jon is another who got lucky with 8/10 cats, as really he's extremely boring, he's another show heightened these annoying traits of his personality to 11 and acts like a totally useless person despite obviously being intelligent and capable.
The over exaggerated language and negativity and the forced pretend disdain they have just doesn't work for anyone older than 16, it's tired, cliched and stale. After a while when you've had a kid and are still doing tv shows together, although we know it's a gimmick, it's just needlessly pointless.

I'm not sure why the negative reviewers are expecting this to be comedy gold. It's clearly a low-budget show where they probably filmed everything in a couple days and the participants were given lunch as payment. It's something to fill in the gaps on the schedule...
But even then I got a kick out of some of the interactions where you could tell there was some fun going on. If you're a fan of the people involved, then you can just sit back and watch them do their thing. I mean you have some relatively popular couples, such as Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev, Kimberly Wyatt and Max Rogers, and Marcus Brigstocke and Rachel Parris for example.
It seems that some reviewers act like they are forced to watch things with a g%n to their head. If you don't like the people involved or the show's formula, then go watch something else. Why even tune in and then write silly reviews about your terrible experience?
If the show gets renewed, I hope we get more comedy couples. I'd love to see Jimmy Carr with his wife Karoline Copping or Joe Wilkinson and his wife, Petra Exton. I'd be glued to the telly for sure...

Once you've seen one...
You've seen them all.
The show becomes so repetitive and glaringly obvious very quickly. I enjoyed the first episode but gave up after episode three and a quick look at four. I love Jon and Lucy but these shows that get thrown at comedians nowadays are pretty lame. Much better stand up or writing for others.
(These words counts on reviews are absolutely ridiculous. These words counts on reviews are absolutely ridiculous. These words counts on reviews are absolutely ridiculous. These words counts on reviews are absolutely ridiculous. These words counts on reviews are absolutely ridiculous.)

I'm a fan of both Jon and Lucy, so watching Jon and Lucy's Odd Couples was a no-brainer for me. I think I would probably watch any show they did together or even apart. I love the dynamics of their on-screen relationship, the banter, the sarcasm, and the loathing. So bringing in other celebrity couples and making them play games, guessing statistics, and undergo lie detector tests is great fun to watch. Being Australian I am not overly familiar with most of the celebrities on the show, nevertheless, I have enjoyed it a lot. British comedy shows are undoubtedly fantastic entertainment, I grew up watching British comedians and sitcoms, so I think it is ingrained in me to love shows like these. Anything that can make me laugh out loud is a winner in my book.
