Joe Piscopo: A Night at Club Piscopo

Back in the 1980s, Piscopo was not too bad on Saturday Night Live. He also had some pretty funny beer commercials. So what happened? Nothing in this is funny. His dated impressions are maudlin in the extreme, plus way, way, off. He rips off Eddie Murphy's James Brown schtick, just very, very, poorly. How bad is this? Have I mentioned the tired old "white man who raps?" The only man who found this remotely funny is Joe himself. he laughs at everything. Well, at least someone did. You won't. A lot of comedic promise from way back ends as below Borst Belt level.

Top 10 worst stand-up routines in the history of time. Corny, lame, outdated, and blatantly terrible. The audience can't even bring themselves to laugh out of pity most of the time. It's hard to figure out which is worse; Joe's music ability, his impressions or his attempt at comedy. Joe Piscopo is the definition of a hack.

A mixture of name-dropping, uninteresting stories with no satisfying end, and musical numbers that are so cheesy you could dip a breadstick in it. Joe Piscopo rambles and quips for the better part of an hour and the audience gives him nothing in return. You can tell just how uncomfortable he is.

There's a moment where Piscopo 'throws it out to the audience' for them to finish his line. Only one guy shouts it out; everyone else either wasn't paying attention or couldn't be bothered.

No exaggeration, I couldn't look away and sat there with my mouth open, fixated, for the whole special. It gets two stars for that.

Joe is weird. Just watch his Celebrity Wife Swap episode with his 20 year old assistant-with-benefits.

He's a consummate low brow bar entertainer. He's in his element here. He's do well to move to Vegas where he could make some real dough.

His impersonations are horrible. They are also ancient -- Sinatra, Cash and Letterman? Where's Jerry Lewis?
