Another Simple Favor feels like it's trying too hard to recreate the original's magic and misses the mark. While it brings back the same stylish flair and lead duo, the plot is bloated with unnecessary twists that feel more chaotic than clever. The humor doesn't land as often, and the story lacks the sharpness that made the first film such a fun surprise. It's not the worst sequel-but it definitely doesn't earn its place.
As someone who genuinely enjoyed the first movie and thought it was dark, funny, and surprisingly clever, this one was a major letdown. Blake Lively's character just doesn't hit the same way-what once felt bold and sharp now feels forced and exaggerated. Anna Kendrick's performance is still on point, but even she can't save a storyline that's over-the-top in the worst way.
Honestly, I couldn't even get through the first 30-40 minutes. I turned to my boyfriend and said I didn't want to finish it-it was that cringey. I like some of the new characters they added in more than the storylines/actcinf of some of the characters that were in the first movie. The acting often comes off as flat, but I think that's more a fault of the writing/how they wanted the characters to be seen than the cast/actors skills. It's like the film forgot what made the original work and replaced it with silliness (that was just that silly and not funny) and chaos for chaos's sake.

Are we supposed to remember the not very memorable movie from 2018 that this is a sequel to? Well according to IMDb I actually did watch that one, but no, sorry, I am drawing a complete blank.
Meanwhile this movie is just a jumble of ideas and none of them are very good. Lots of twists and turns that are supposed to dazzle us but there are no real stakes and there never is real tension to get the viewer invested. The parts that are supposed to be funny work here and there but even then... Great locations though.
I think Paul Feig peaked with Bridesmaids and that is almost 15 years ago. Maybe it is me that is getting too old for this.

"Another Simple Favor" attempts to recapture the quirky charm and twisted energy of its predecessor, but mostly falls flat. While it brings back the stylish aesthetic, witty banter, and familiar faces, it struggles to justify its own existence beyond nostalgia.
The plot tries to outdo the first movie with more twists and over-the-top antics, but ends up feeling forced and unnecessarily convoluted. Instead of building on what made "A Simple Favor" fun and darkly clever, this sequel leans into exaggerated absurdity, often sacrificing coherence for shock value.
Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick still have chemistry, but even their performances feel a bit weighed down by a script that doesn't give them as much to play with. The humor is hit or miss, and while there are entertaining moments sprinkled throughout, they're not enough to elevate the overall experience.
In the end, "Another Simple Favor" comes off as a flashy, mildly amusing follow-up that forgets what made the original work. It's not terrible-but it's far from memorable.

I enjoyed the first movie. The characters had some realism to them and were somewhat likeable. These characters are cardboard cutouts, profoundly selfish and unlikeable, unbelievable and written as if some not ready for prime time 19 year who was trying to be cool wrote this. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, do you really need the money this bad? I would have read the script and said I am not doing this film - not unless the script is shredded and rewritten. You can kiss a third installment goodbye after this mess. If you can go into this with no expectations and see it as a forgettable who done it, then maybe it is worth watching while folding socks or something.
"Another Simple Favor" tries to recapture the quirky charm and mystery of its predecessor, but ends up feeling like a forced, over-the-top sequel that forgot what made the original work. The plot is needlessly convoluted, filled with implausible twists that seem to exist just for shock value rather than story cohesion.
Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles, but their chemistry feels strained and less natural this time around. Instead of building tension or emotional depth, the film leans heavily into absurdity and camp, losing the balance between dark humor and thriller that made the first film engaging.
All in all, I find it disappointing.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaElizabeth Perkins replaced Jean Smart in the role of Margaret due to Smart's schedule. The film jokes about it when Emily meets her mother and says she has changed a little.
- ErroresThere is virtually no way a convicted murderer would be allowed to leave the country while her case was on appeal.
- Citas
Sean Townsend: [to Dante] I would rather shave my balls with a rusty knife than be at this wedding.
Emily Nelson: Oh, let me do that for you.
