Ants are more enjoyable to watch

Movie was and is a mess. I and others will better enjoy observing ants in their natural or artificial habit.

Movie needs help, what a mess. Budget probably went to Jamie Foxx's interview scene, 10min worth of work for 1mill.

How are these projects green lit. Lots of CGI, unfortunately not as much in script.

Movie feels like a chose your own adventure of slop.

Flashback scenes give the viewer the urge to flash themselves for greater entertainment, regardless of pro/con of self-flash.

Please use your time by donating energy to help the world and not on this mess of a movie. Pete Sampras would do better as a writer and/or director.

Dire

Lineup consisted or Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro and John Leguizamo. Within the first ten minutes Rita Ora was hanging from the gateway. This is the moment I should have turned it off. The storyline was ok but the execution and cinematography were awful, at one point I was considering booking an appointment at Specsavers because the screen was blurred and shaking. Sadly Scott Eastman isn't his dad and blurred and shaky screen tried to make up for woeful acting and zero charisma. DeNiro is one of my favourite actors but this is a bit part for a pay day. My advice is to stay clear of this dreadful film.

Terrible script and poorly executed - Razzie of the year

This film is one of those examples for film students on how one should Not utilize flash backs as a substitute for terrible script writing.

Be prepared for 90% horrible flash backs and it's not brilliant like Memento and feels like Demento.

It's hard to believe considering this director did great films like The Infiltrator.

This film is a horrible attempt at dealing with a sensitive subject like ptsd but mixed it with a silly Jones cult story that is lost in translation and unfortunately does a hatchet job in both execution and editing that it ends up turning into a tossed messed up salad that makes one wonder if the writer and director suffer also from ptsd.

What a sad waste of top talent of Deniro whose lame character 6 mins is not justified and Scott Eastwood ( who seems to have a knack for picking lemons - even though he tries his best in this silly film), and the funniest best razzie of the year award is Jamie Foxx - starring as a cross of Carrot Head meets 70s Shaft with the worst hair wig ever.

This film is a thankfully only 75 minute disaster that if one removes the top cast it is a B film that Steven Siegel would be perfect except I read somewhere the budget was $39m so maybe it was a huge payday for Deniro and Jamie Fox.

Watch with low expectations

3 stars.

Tin Actor

When I stumbled upon this I didn't even think it was real, but it is! A movie with Jamie Foxx AND Robert DeNiro and not one trailer? Why are they not promoting this? I soon found out...This is one of the silliest things I have ever seen.

There are three main problems. First is the story itself. The narrative choice they made to tell the story in voiceover, flashbacks and then back to present day in a way that makes the timeline really confusing. Did this happen ten years ago or five? When did the character make this decision? How long were they together vs apart? How long did they know where a certain character was? Made it really hard to be invested in the character relationships that we are presented with. Also the cult titles/honorifics- Shinja, Bokushi? Pure lol wtf.

Second is Jamie Foxx as the villain. He's got this crazy wig and beard, straight hamming it up. I just couldn't take him seriously in what's supposed to be a deathly serious role.

The third and biggest problem is Scott Eastwood as the protagonist. I don't know why they keep asking him to carry lead roles. He is textbook nepo baby. He's got the looks and the name but he lacks the presence/gravitas of a leading man. There's an ironic scene close to the end where the villain PERFECTLY describes who Eastwood is in real life: a guy who always comes up short because he just doesn't have the mettle.

What about DeNiro? Well, he's in this for like, five minutes tops. They could have got any old character actor to do what he did, which wasn't much.

One star for Jamie Foxx looking crazy which is the only entertainment value. Real waste of time and talent.

Don't watch, it's a waste

A movie filled with a bunch of quazi-religious overtones with some sprinkled in semi-narcissistic half-baked para-bu(ll)shido made up sort-of-kinda japanese sounding titles/words and a whole slew of useless filters on top of slow-mo and a seemingly acid-tripping editor trying to bring his LSD-visions onto the screen between the dark scenes with blinking lights and WAY too many close-up shots jockeying back and forth between faces and people.

Story was bad and barely made sense, the actors were probably (?) doing their best and failing at it, leaving the result a mess of a movie, a waste of money and about an hour and 5 mins - as I FFWed several times to skip the most annoying scenes of grand-standing monologuing and preaching - of my life I'll never get back.

It had about NOTHING to do with PTSD besides mentioning it in passing and the best thing about this movie was the people behind the scenes that were paid to work on it. And I'm not counting the actors in front of the camera into the crew here.

WTAF

I don't know where to begin or what yo say.

If feels like massive chunks of the narrative are missing. Things just happen for the sake of happening and everything and everyone is vague as hell.

Nothing really feels natural. It's all just a big hot mess of hallucinatory imagery and confusingly shot action scenes.

I don't know how or why this exists but it's certainly an oddity.

Check it out for the curiosity value. That's about all there is.

The cast is wasted here and I'm not really sure what the intent behind the pic or it's story is.

Not a new kind of action film. Just a huge head scratcher.

Yawn

I watched this with a couple people but if alone wouldn't have bothered after 15 minutes. I guess I expected more with the sectors involved and director but wow this is not watchable. It's boring and everyone watching spent most of the time just playing around on their phones. Hollywood writers are nothing but disappointing most of the time these days and actors aren't even trying it seems. They just want a pay check. The plot was an ok premise but poor execution. The character development just didn't make sense and you didn't care about any of them. Hard choices easy life, easy choices hard life. It's not a hard choice not to watch this movie.

fun movie

"This film is an adrenaline-packed rollercoaster that delivers nonstop thrills and excitement from the very first scene to the explosive finale. Every moment is meticulously crafted to immerse you in a world of high-octane action, with breathtaking stunts, edge-of-your-seat tension, and a storyline that never loses momentum. The pacing is relentless, the visuals are stunning, and the characters are brought to life with intensity and charisma, making it impossible to look away. Whether it's the perfectly choreographed fight sequences, the heart-stopping car chases, or the dramatic twists and turns, this movie offers something for everyone who craves the rush of a top-tier action film. A true spectacle that sets a new standard for the genre, leaving you energized and eager for more!"

Decide for yourself

I was in two minds as to whether to watch this film based upon what others had said, but I'm glad I did. I have seen far, far worse with much higher scores.

In terms of acting, cinematography, effects, storyline, score and action sequences, it won't win any Oscars but they are all perfectly acceptable for a film of this genre.

Where it might fall down, and I guess this is where the gripe lies with many of the negative reviews, is in the progression of the story-telling. It jumps around between timelines with little indication that it has done so, and the effect can at times cause you to come out of the experience to question what it is you have just seen. Coupled with the sometimes overly-arty post-production clip inserts, and it might be enough to put you off if you were expecting an easy, relaxing watch.

If you're just after gunfire, explosions and a brain switch-off, then this isn't going to be for you. If however, you are comfortable with visual metaphors and have the ability to follow a plot in the presence of a little confusion, then I'm sure you'll find this an enjoyable, if not exceptional, movie.

Extraordinarily poor

It's not hard to make a bad film. But it's hard to get the money together to involve actors of this level in something like this.

It's possible that viewers might wonder if the financiers were seeking to exchange money of a certain type for money of another variety. I wouldn't want to conjecture about that.

It's not just the spend on the leads either, it doesn't look cheap for the most part. And there's some kind of ham-fisted attempt to deliver a message too. It's not for me to be offended by the take on combat PTSD that's being put before us here, although I can imagine others would be.

It really is awful though.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Ignore the Geezers

This latest entry in the "geezer teaser" cinematic universe is surprisingly competent-and still totally skippable. Foxx and De Niro actually show up more than just for the poster (a rarity!), but most of the heavy lifting is done by Scott Eastwood, who's... fine. He doesn't embarrass himself, which already makes him an MVP in this genre even if he lacks gravitas.

Instead of going full action schlock, Tin Soldier tries to get deep and psychological, which is bold for a movie with such poor editing. Because the emphasis is on the story and on the human angle rather than on schlocky action, my standards for the writing and acting were lifted. Unfortunately, it's here that the film really fails to deliver. The body count is low, the trauma is high, and Jamie Foxx plays a cult leader so unconvincing you'd wonder how he even got people to follow him on TikTok, let alone into armed rebellion. Foxx is loud and aggressive, but he's not seductive or persuasive the way he would need to be as a cult leader.

There are some cool visuals-Eastwood's inner torment gets the psychedelic treatment-but the writing stumbles hard. The movie wants to be about healing and identity, but forgot to make any of that feel earned. Foxx yells vague anti-government stuff, Eastwood broods, and at no point do you believe these two were ever in the same cult.

The film could have worked if we saw Eastwood grappling with his allegiance to the cult, and if a proper parallel had been made between letting go of the rage and anger resulting from his trauma and symbolically represented by Foxx and the cult. Instead, Eastwood is in opposition to the cult from the film's start, and we never really see him being swayed by anything Foxx says or conflicted about what to do. The ending feels completely unearned.

Shoutout to the final showdown, where the movie ditches reality altogether and swan-dives into Mad Max cosplay. Foxx rallies his cloak-wearing cult at a dam that looks like a Bond villain's Airbnb, and suddenly we're in Thunderdome territory! Eastwood and Foxx brawl in a literal arena, surrounded by fireballs and chanting dudes like it's post-apocalyptic Fight Club. Oh, and Eastwood planted a bomb with a big ol' timer. I probably would have enjoyed the whole film more if it had maintained this level of insanity throughout. Sigh!

In the end, it's too serious to be fun, and too sloppy to be serious. If you're looking for meaningful drama or mindless action, you'll come away disappointed.

Give me my Time back !

At this point anything that Robert Deniro does seems to be super boring, besides the movie having no fun moments at all, this could have been done way better, whomever is in charge of the script and casting, please do better!

Not because you bring in big name actors means that the movie has to be good.

Either way, i did not expect too much from this film and that was exactly what i got, not so much, or lets say nothing!

If i could go back in time, i would skip this one for sure, unless of course I got paid for a good review, then i would give it a 10 star review plus tons of praise, but at this point they didnt even have budget for that.

Tried to be dramatic, but they forgot to add substance

This movie tried to be dramatic, but it lacked any substance.

It was really uninspiring and it was even hard to watch in a single sitting. I failed and watching the last part was really a waste of time.l too.

The acting wasn't great and it didn't seem like it was directed well.

I don't particularly have anything good to say about it. I definitely wouldn't recommend watching it. I'd like to give them credit and hope they just ran out of budget, but with this one, it's hard to know for sure.

Really low quality stuff. It was on Amazon, so no real surprises, as their quality is often very average.

All (half baked) Style- little substance.

Filled with stylistic editing, the barrage of imagery is nauseating, and without any story development just adds to utterly confuse and bore the viewer. This story needed to be told in realtime, without continuous flashbacks and ridiculous slow motions, 360 degree pans, filters and colour corrections. I reminded myself through the whole movie that nobody sets out to make a bad movie since I wanted to like it so much. But unfortunately, a great fundamental premise gets lost without a script and direction. They could have stuck with a Western instead of this mash-up of psychological action romance thriller western whatever whatever. At the very least this is a great movie to illustrate to cinema schools how not to abuse stylistic over editing.

Tin what?!?

Right, I've never written a review on here before, but what in the actual cinematic landfill did I just watch?! Absolute ****e. I spent the entire runtime playing "Spot the Logic"-spoiler alert: it's not in the film. Like, why wouldn't he shoot there, there, ooooh, and THERE? And the co-pilot-was he recruited from a local paintball team? Because that's the only explanation for his complete lack of military know-how.

Then there's the psychedelic fever dream running through the whole thing. The effects? Like someone discovered After Effects and ketamine on the same day. Dialogue? Written by a sentient lava lamp. Was the director microdosing through production or just full-on licking toads?

As for the acting-I'll let you decide, but personally, I think both leads have been stuck in the same character loop since 2014. It's giving "Mark Wahlberg in autopilot mode," where every role is just a remix of the last. Scott Eastwood's performance? Like watching a mannequin try to emote. And DeNiro? Blink and you'll miss him-probably cashed the cheque before the camera even rolled.

Jamie Foxx deserves a special mention for rocking the worst wig since Nicolas Cage's tax bill era. He looks like Shaft got lost in a cosplay convention and wandered onto the wrong set.

In summary: Awful. ******* awful. If this film were a vinyl, I'd drive over and frisbee it into Burnley!

Not my tipe

The thing is.. I'm not fan of these tipes of movies(past->present->past->present).. there is some action in later stages of the film but not enough and some of the actors seems to be overpaid based on their performance in this movie. There is definitely some sort of "read between the lines" story, but it's not well put together if you ask me (as regular viewer). I expected both better acting and screenplay from more well known actors. There is not much more to say except that this is unfortunately another one of those movies that's trying to achieve some short of story on some vierd way and as i said.. it didn't manage to perceive the story well.

I created this account just to rate this

I had a feeling this was going to be bad when the companies and studios involved had those crappy logos, names and intros. I can't explain it any better than that. But boy was I wrong. This was so much worse. One of the worst movies I've seen, and I've watched all of the Sharknados, which at least are purposefully bad. Deniro is not even trying. 3 lines and not even trying. This had so much potential but I guess going full cliché was an option too. I was ok with it being bad until the last bit, then it just made me angry.

Staggeringlu awful, and DeNoiro in particular needs to stop acting for good.

There are too many great actors who take roles in colossally terrible films just because they are desperate for the cash, and prove that their heyday is long over and that they have no respect either for cinema as a whole, or their incredible part in making it one of the great art forms during the twentieth century.

In the 21st century it is becoming a digital landfill full of rotting ideas that should never have been recycled, and performances that you not only saw and heard but smelled a mile away.

Enter DeNiro. He is is writing the last days of his career in film the way some people write punchlines to terrible jokes.

And right alongside him, another stunning performer hollowing out his hard won brand, Jamie Foxx. The teeth, people. Whoever dressed him should be sued for deliberately trying to sabotage the movie.

Not that we expect a lot from Amazon, but this may be a new low.

No spoilers here, though. If you're determined to see something absolutely terrible, watch it yourself. Clint Eastwood's nepo baby son, Scott, has a speaking role, so he's moving up in the world about as fast as John Leguizamo is cascading downwards. His last good flick was John Wick, and was barely in it.

The movie's a train wreck. The acting is bad. Everyone is competing to see who gets to chew which scenery, and the dialog is just dumb.

Don't watch this. Watch a good movie. The forced repeated watching of Tin Soldiers will one day be punishment for shoplifting in less enlightened countries.

Tough to finish

The only way to watch this would be to take a shot every time someone says, "The Bokushi". You would be passed out after 15 minutes. It would take a week of blackout drunken nights to finish it. Other than that I found no redeeming qualities and no other reason to watch this.

Waco meets Apocalypse Now

A stylistic approach to another FBI standoff.

Lots of inner dialog as the protagonist deals with his demons.

The FBIs inevitable breach and resistance.

Who's right, who's wrong is never black and white.

A nod to WW II films with the French love interest and the American GI

The Apocalypse Now village scene is replaced with the hatchery and compound.

Jamie Fox's portrayal of the "Berquishi"(?) is strong and convincing; chilling at times.

A charismatic leader that wants to help his fellow vets. Created by the government and now rogue.

Does power corrupt, or does having followers threaten others that would seek to control us.
