It is a very nice location, made me want to go there and explore and it looked a lot like the first episode of Outer Banks 3rd season where they are stranded on an island but seemed to be doing pretty well
The acting was great, the story was entertaining and somewhat current with the COVID pandemic and the "last of us" apocalyptic premise.
Unfortunately there were some flaws that should have been and could have been easily avoided in the editing room, such as the big sailing boat docked on the background of a "supposedly" deserted Island and the microphones taped on the back of the main characters.

A Bad Plot + Terrible Writing + Abysmal Acting = Watch at your own risk!
There was potential at the very beginning, but drastically faded as the movie played on.
The acting by was so bad, it actually seemed like a blooper reel. There was absolutely no depth or any sort of emotion whatsoever.
The writing and plot topped off the disaster. It felt like the movie was made over the weekend with no emphasis on the characters or storyline.
I'm surprised they weren't watching tv on the beach, with a chef and bartender... lol
For the people who do somehow like the 'movie', I would guess it only has to do with certain scenes.
You've been warmed! 😁

Honestly kept me on the edge of my seat and the lead 3 actors (the two girls and the guy) were great.
The movie took unexpected turns and I was engaged the entire time. I thought the girl who played Cara was a great actress and she had great chemistry with her costar. Both girls were really solid. The guy who played Finn was also a solid actor and he and Cara had some really great scenes together.
The movie's ending was kind of sudden and I hope to see a second movie as it ended with some room to expand the story.
Overall, I was really entertained by Castaways and I thought the Island was a really look location too. I wonder where they filmed the movie.

I've been binge-watching girl loves girl movies and shows for several months now. Girl making out with girl love scenes are the most passionate lovemaking scenes imaginable. Forget the dirty stuff ... just the longing glances and the loving embraces and the passionate kissing and the mere touching of fingers. You'd be hard-pressed to find this kind of passion in normal boy/girl scenes.
Castaways is about in the middle-of-the-road when rating it against other girl loves girl movies. Just to help any readers out, IMO, if you want to see the top notch lesbian movies, try 'You Can Live Forever', 'Elena Undone', 'More Beautiful for Having Been Broken', 'Loving Annabelle', or "Kiss Me', for starters.
That said, Castaways isn't a bad movie. The leads are pretty and decent actresses with good bodies. The story is interesting even if it is a little amateurish. The dialog (which can take a movie down) isn't too immature and, for the most part, was convincing. The chemistry between the two leads wasn't fantastic but it was mostly believable.
The "funniest" part about this movie are the voluminous flaws throughout the film. There are far too many to mention but the two most notable ones were- Sooo many times, when the actresses were on the beach, I kept feeling sorry for them cuz they were in the hot sun. But then, as the dialog went back and forth between the leads, the closeups almost all had the actresses in the shade. And yet they were twenty yards from the closest tree.
The second glaring flaw was about 10 or 15 minutes into the movie, there is a big boat in the background. This isn't a spoiler, it is just a giant boat parked a couple of hundred yards away. I started laughing and my bf didn't believe me so we actually rewound the stream to witness this odd boat (having nothing to do with this movie) again. Then my bf started laughing.
In summary, even for all its flaws, I enjoyed watching Castaways. To me, the best recommendation that I could give you is, why you ask, did I recommend some of the above movies when I say that Castways was more mediocre. It's because every single one of the above recommended movies made me weep with emotion. Not cuz they're all sad but they evoked love or heartache or emotional pain or heaven on earth. In the end, at the end of Castaways, I was just thinking about what I was gonna cook for dinner.

Cara was the highlight of the film for me. I believe the actress who portrayed her is Sofia. Her performance was so powerful in bringing more depth to the relationship and arch into the film. Not only that, her own character story was so poignant that really moved me when she spoke about her past. There was so much specificity and clarity of thought that really provided so much backbone to the central story of this film. It was intriguing to watch her subtle and nuanced expressions throughout the film that conveyed so much subtext and emotions that could not be spoken. Can't wait to see her future works now!!!
