I wanted to hate this so bad but it was good

In the sea of trashy lemonade romcoms with low budget bad acting and cringy dialogue and scenes this was surprising good actually awesome. Now it wasn't perfect but the bar for these type of movies is on the floor. The movie had cute scenes that worked and weren't cringy, the chemistry between leads was definitely there, the story was well rounded with some depth, the characters were loveable.

When i saw which studio produced the movie a had literature no expectation but after watching it i want to see what else will they make cus i will be watching. It was well casted, well produced and it looked nice almost believable so i honestly recommend it.

What a cute Wattpad adaptation.

What a cute Wattpad adaptation. I couldn't stop giggling, smiling, and kicking my feet like a middle schooler having a crush for the first time in her life.

The storyline is good. The acting is not so bad.

Noah Beck's acting is surprisingly decent and he was pretty damn charming to watch.

Noah & Siena's characters are so cute together.

Siena and her brother's dynamic is interesting and fun to watch.

Besides the obvious love story, one of my favorite things about this movie is DREW RAY TANNER. I had never seen him in any other movies or TV shows except for Riverdale, but he was one of my favorite characters in that weird show.

Surprisingly enjoyable

It was exactly what I expected, storyline-wise. But I didn't expect the depth or chemistry between the cast. I put off watching it for a bit because I thought why watch another teenaged romcom when once you've seen one, you've seen them all, but I was caught up in the storyline faster than expected.

There are plenty of moments of swoonworthy lines and scenes. The dialogue felt relatable and comfortable in delivery, which I was certain was going to be the downfall.

Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it predictable? 100%. Does it follow the same recipe of every other movie in its genre? Definitely. But is it worth the watch? Absolutely!

Finally a good rom-com

I didn't expect a wattpad movie to be this decent. I have been disappointed by modern romcoms and their cringy acting, but this film was far from it. Both leads acted well and there was true chemistry between them. The story was believable and even navigated grief and loss in a sensitive and insightful way.

I particularly enjoyed the soundtrack choices to the point where I would pause the movie just to google the songs. Of course it's still a wattpad romcom so don't go expecting the most powerful and unpredictable plot. But compared to the sloppiness of modern romcoms, this one was a great watch.

it was ehh!

This film was a bit cliché and predictable.

The lead guy and girl are really good actors but the plot and storyline is a bit overdone.

And the characters are very likeable and have good personalities.

It's not mind blowing and life changing, but i can't say that i didn't enjoy it.

But a part of it that is good is that this movie feels relatable in a way. The high school setting, drama, sports, friendships, it all just makes it easy to connect with.

While this film isn't exactly ground breaking, i would give it a watch if you're just looking for something casual and not too thought provoking.

my soul left my body

It is SO bad, I wanna give you a 0, but that's not possible. So I give you a one.

There's no possible way the director, producers, script writers, and editors approved of this garbage and thought "yes, they gonna love this" bc what the actual hell. I couldn't even finish the movie. The actors were so emotionless, every scene was predictable, and the lines were just flat out cringe. What can you expect from a wattpad movie though. There was absolutely nothing likable about the characters; they were all so flavorless. The bad acting made my toes curled so hard, I think I've lost the ability to walk. I died a little watching this.

Do not recommend if you have a weak stomach.

Not the best film ever, but far from the worst.

There are a few cliches and stereotypes to be found throughout "Sidelined: The QB and Me". If you're at all familiar with football movies, I'm sure you know which ones I'm talking about.

Said stereotypes and cliches don't take away from the film, which is nothing too spectacular but also not awful, despite what some of the reviews here might tell you.

It even features James Van Der Beek at the main character's pushy father, which doesn't seem right because he was just playing a QB in "Varsity Blues" a few years ago...right?

Siena Agudong as Dallas and Noah Beck as Drayton Lahey were fine. Their chemistry developed over the course of the movie. They had their cheesy romantic moments, of course, which were well-delivered. Never heard of either of them before.

Ultimately, "Sidelined: The QB and Me" is a decent enough sports romance movie. It's not "Any Given Sunday", but it's an easy watch, and good entertainment.

Tough Watch - but fun to make fun of

I saw this movie all over instagram and tiktok and i did know that it was a wattpad story-turned-movie so i really didn't have high expectations going in. But oh boy. This was one of those movies where i could literally say their lines before they said them because of how predictable/tropey/cliche the plot and characters were. I legitimately had to pause the movie and and stare into space a couple of times because of secondhand embarrassment.

Only two stars instead of one because i powered through to finish it which is not always possible for me. Only pro i can attribute was the costuming on noah beck. He kinda ate those fits i can't even lie. As a dancer this movie felt like an appropriation of my culture; a very difficult watch. For every 1 semi-cute moment there were 10 times i had to reassess what i was doing with my life by wasting my time on this piece of media.

Lowkey a good time if you like making fun of cliche movies but don't go in expecting anything good.

It's a cute romcom movie

I personally found to be super cute ,it is different, not explicit but at the same time just giving a little bit of tease. It's not like the usual teen romantic movies because mostly they are very explicit in everyway. I enjoyed the sarcastic jokes and the double meaning jokes aswell. In my opinion this was a very cute teen movie which had a lot of understanding characters who showed maturity. I know the this is not a lot of people cup of tea but to be honest in an industry were there is a lot of explicit movies regarding teens, I personally think that this was a very decent movie. It's not that bad.

It's good but... haha

Why does literally nobody talk about the hickey or mark on Noah Becks neck the whole movie ( besides one little part, but still!) .... And I genuinely don't get the context on why it's there yeah, in the movie he's supposed to come across as a "player" but nothing is said of it the whole film and it's there the whole film.. Overall I thought this movie would be cheesy because a TikTok star was casted as the main role but it really was all not that bad! It had some emotional parts that actually made me tear up a little bit. It's a great movie that represents real world problems about friendships, balance, and family. I would definitely recommend to people to watch this but still so confused about the hickey/ mark but oh well!! 😂😂

An Instant Classic

This film oozes charm. It's cute, sweet & has depth. I was wholly prepared for the standard fare of teen angst & cheesy moments, which it does have, but it not only explores teen romance but also differing family dynamics & how loss can impact them.

QB & Me also surprised me with just how strong the chemistry is across the board. Siena Agudong & Noah Beck are both excellent in this film. They play off each other extremely well & it comes across in a very genuine way. The same can also be said about Siena & Drew Ray Tanner, who plays her brother - honestly some of my favourite moments in the film.

With a nice plot, strong leads & a brilliant supporting cast behind them, I definitely recommend giving this a watch.

Awful, Cliched waste of time

I was asked to watch this with a friend. They are no longer a friend after making me watch this terrible movie. I guess some young girls might like the movie, but very few others will. I had to laugh at the early 10/10 reviews, clearly from family and friends. The story line is weak, the whole bad boy falls for nice girl has been done to death so many times, and this poorly scripted movie offers nothing new. Noah Beck must be the smallest quarterback this generation. His acting was ok, unlike some of the others who seemed to have no idea, and clearly the director didn't either. Do yourself a favor and give this drama a miss.

awful.. super corny..

Not even 10 minutes in i was already cringing so hard, and trying my best to enjoy it but just couldnt. Super poorly made and immature, the actors werent the worst but not the best either, and the script was really bad. After all this is my personal opinion, i only watched because tiktok was talking about it so i gave it a chance and they are all correct, it was corny.

Im not writing this to diss on it but it is just my opinion dont take this too seriously, I know a lot of people are saying it was super similar to a wattpad book? I could be wrong but its just what ive heard, regardless the script is awful and the way they word things and speak makes it super awkward and hard to watch through. I rate this a 1 out of 10 simply because the poorly written script, okay acting, and it was just a very hard watch, i was cringing out every few minutes because of what they said or how they said it. I genuinely dont know how some people are liking this movie maybe fans of noah neck but idk. Maybe its a me problem, i was just holding back a laugh every so often. I think maybe in the future the movies he acts in or possibly even directs could be good, everyone starts somewhere and improves. Anyways once again, this is my personal opinion, i would not watch again. And im not trying to diss the movie just sharing my thoughts.

Classic and refreshing

This movie was such a sweet classic high school romcom. It's refreshing to see a movie about two people figuring out life and their love for each other without any love triangles. It did a great job focusing on their stories and the casting was amazing. Noah did a great job showing the layers of Drayton and balancing following the dream of his dad but also trying to pave his own way. Siena really showed the determination and internal struggle of balancing life and love. The story line and characters are well developed and executed amazingly. It's a sweet, feel good, high school romcom done well!

Were we supposed to expect more?

This movie is exactly what its supposed to be. Its not a masterpiece its not supposed to be this amazing rom com. This is very wattpad coded.

Meaning cliches, bad acting and all the high school tropes we love with very good looking people in the movie with mediocre acting skills.

My only complaint is if theyre gonna hire a tiktok star, why not also choose an actual person who can dance. Acting is clearly not the concern here. The background dancers were dancing circles around the main lead. Not sure how we as an audience were supposed to believe shes this amazing dancer who gets accepted to this competitive school or arts?? With those basic dance moves??

All in all. I watched the whole thing, found it entertaining.

I can be a little shallow, i appreciate the leads being very good looking. This would have been completely unwatchable should the two leads have been two average looking people.

Noah Beck no

I think it's so annoying when just because someone is known on social media they step into spaces clarey they're not ready for. He was not good in this and neither was the other lead. I guess that's the point? I'm not suppose to take this movie seriously lol but I do have to admit Anyone I'm sure with more acting experience could have taken this role instead of someone else just because of Tik tok? It's honestly ridiculous. Besides that this movie wasn't written well at all it's cheesy and the hardest watch I had endured since Kissing booth. Luckily Jacob Elordi and Joey king can actually act though besides the awful writing. This was a no and anyone saying this was really solid or good must of never seen a real film done before.

Loved it

It was like a mix of 'Another Cinderella Story' x 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before' with a little "I don't want the popular guy but eventually succumbs to the attraction" troupe. It definitely reminds me of Episode. Iykyk! But again, It was so lovable. The characters, the story, the High School romance. Ugh, I loved it. The little twist at the end was good, honestly was a little shocked but in a good way, of course! The chemistry between Dallas and Drayton was great. They flowed very well together. They did amazing. I hope to see them both in more films. (Maybe even in another film together?!?)

CUTE FOR WHAT IT IS...!

A Tubi original (yeah they're making original programming!) from last year. A tale of how a hardworking cheerleader/student, Siena Agudong, who's aiming for scholarly glory meets a similarly bent quarterback, Noah Beck, but at first she wants none of it. Beck has his own pressures to make good on his talent by his overbearing father, James Van Der Beek (in a bit of casting irony since he played the son's part in Varsity Blues), who hopes to get him a slot at a favored college. Agudong soon melts to Beck's charms (Agudong's bestie, Asia Lizardo, also pushes for the union) & the dating & the ups & downs which comes from it soon rear their head which leaves this particular romantic fable in familiar straits by the time of fade out. Not redefining the wheel in any way, shape or form, the film still coasts on the squeaky clean, sexy cast which gets the job done by the time the popcorn bowl needs to be refilled.

Way more enjoyable than it should be...

I don't even know how to explain how lovely it was to watch this movie. I honestly gave it a shot because I've always found Siena Agudong to be a beautiful and talented actor but was always in roles that just somehow missed the mark. I had hope this one would hit the nail on the head.

It did! And she did! And even better, the entire cast was great. The "conflict" was very mild but that was a welcome thing in this current world we live in.

It was just a lovely and harmless love story between two really likable characters living the same lives and situations as we all do but coming out on top.

This was a believable and sweet love story and everything I wanted when I started watching...even if I didn't expect it.

Siena has REALLY grown and matured in her acting and her personality. I think she could be on for some really great roles if she keeps this up.

Would watch again.

WATTPADS BIGGEST HIT!!

(following review copied from my letterboxd)

"i'm not just great with my hands" SWOON. But also, After? Embarrassed. The Kissing Booth? In the corner crying. Perfect Addiction? Six feet under. In all seriousness "Sidelined: The QB and Me" is easily one of the best wattpad adaptations to be made so far. Unfortunately, I do have to compare to the ones we have gotten so far. Because this movie isn't riddled with endless montages to try to make up for acting or lack of plotline (which we know after decided to switch out montages for the hundreds of pages of plot they could've used) and not cringe seen on top of cringe scene. Don't get me wrong. There are a few sprinkled in, but this movie didn't try to be something that it's not. It knew exactly what it was and who the audience was and what the audience wants.

With this being based on the book (The QB Bad Boy and Me) I knew there was bound to be some changes, but the ones made only made it better. In the book Noah's character (Drayton) sister is murdered and left her dead on the side of the road which does bring a good emotional moment in the book, but it's thrown in so randomly that it doesn't seem realistic, but in the film it is changed and better built up. I also would like to see the diversity of the cast, and the characters may not be an all straight cast.

Also I'll be honest I like to see my movies have sex scenes, especially when it comes from such a smutty genre, but I like that this was more of a fade to black case. Which I knew it would be with them being high schoolers and also being know Noah Becks film debut (I don't think he would bear at all for his first film and I respect that).

All in all, I hope this film will bring a long partnership between Wattpad/Webtoons and Tubi. I would also really love to see the Director work with these two studios, because he just captured everything so perfectly. (i'm really praying he'll get to do the adaptation for "The Bad Boy's Girl" by Blair Holden next - which in my dreams stars Olivia Holt as Tessa O'Connell).
