Who is Phila? Who Plays Her in Fatal Seduction?
Image
‘Fatal Seduction’ season 2 finds Nandi in a familiarly dangerous place with an entirely new hunter on her tail. Vuyo’s consistent efforts in investigating Vilakazi compel the Minister to train a target on the cop’s back. As a result, menacing danger constantly surrounds an unwitting Zinhle, aka Zee, Vuyo’s secret daughter. Thus, with her daughter’s life on the line while her own is confined within a brutal prison system, Nandi is desperate to protect herself and her family but has no power to do so. In fact, the only thing that seems to be keeping her safe in prison is her relationship with a fellow convict named Phila. As such, the latter enters the story as an intriguing character who goes on to remain an integral part of the protagonist’s tale in the future.

Meet the Khumalos (2025)
Meet the Khumalos: A South African Comedy on Netflix
Meet the Khumalos (2025)
Looking for a laugh and a way to unwind? Netflix delivers with “Meet the Khumalos,” a family comedy designed purely for your entertainment and enjoyment.

Forget about philosophical quandaries, existential crises, and even, if you can, international politics for a bit.

We know it’s a tall order, but “Meet the Khumalos” is here to help you try.

The Plot

The plot of “Meet the Khumalos” centers on a classic comedic setup: clashing personalities and the unpredictable twists of family life. The story focuses on Grace Khumalo (played by Khanyi Mbau), whose seemingly perfect life in the upscale Umhlanga neighborhood is upended when her former high school acquaintance, Bongi Sithole (played by Ayanda Borotho), moves in next door. The situation escalates when Grace and Bongi are horrified to discover that their respective children have fallen secretly in love. This “forbidden love” element, juxtaposed with the mothers’ animosity, creates a central...

‘Sisters’ Feud’ Netflix Review: Finally, A Family Drama That’s So Bad That It Is Hilarious
Image
Now that we are approaching the tailend of one of the worst years in the history of mankind, my theory that Netflix probably asked creators from all across the globe to come up with the most bizarre crime-fueled family dramas is looking more and more solid. The streaming platform kick-started 2024 with Fool Me Once, which focused on the shenanigans of a singular posh British family. Then there was The Accident, which involved several Mexican families. So did We Were Kings. Blood Legacy and Savage Beauty highlighted the opulence and wealth of elite South African families. Despite featuring actors from Australia, Ireland, and even India, The Perfect Couple talked about the stupidity of rich American folks. And then Territory took us to the great Down Under. But the issue with all of these titles was that they were bloody boring. I mean, they were supposed to be scandalous and the plotlines...

Savage Beauty Season 2 Review: A Family in Disarray

The South African drama series Savage Beauty gripped audiences with its compelling tale of vengeance in the first season. Viewers followed Zinhle’s journey as she sought payback against the wealthy Bhengu family for their involvement in dangerous skin-bleaching experiments decades prior.

With countless twists along the way, the gripping season left fans on the edge of their seats. Now in its second installment, the show continues exploring the complex personal dynamics and dark secrets within the Bhengu clan.

Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shockingly tragic turn of events in the season one finale. As the family reels with grief and suspicion mounts around who’s to blame, new threats emerge to challenge the Bhengus’ power. Long-buried truths also surface in devastating ways, further fracturing the fragile bonds between parents, their children, and their spouses. ‘Savage Beauty’ Season 1 Recap Before Watching Season 2
Image
Netflix’s Savage Beauty Season 1 made us privy to the scandalous Bhengu family, how they made their way to the top, and the kind of controversial and terrible things they did in the past. The family didn’t know that their past would come to haunt them and take away everything that they held dear. So, let’s find out what happened in season 1 and specifics that you should know before watching Savage Beauty season 2.

Spoiler Alert

How did Zinhle spoil Bhengu Beauty’s reputation?

Zinhle was made the face of Bhengu Beauty, and it was the first time the Bhengu family had decided to let the public vote and choose. The reason for doing that was that, in the past, Bhengu Beauty faced a lot of criticism for their unrealistic beauty standards and how they discriminated against people who had darker skin. The entire family dynamics of the Bhengus,...

There was a time when it looked as though Netflix was poised to become the streaming world's answer to HBO.

Like the network that brought you The Sopranos and Deadwood, Netflix created its own niche, and at first, the streaming giant seemed to be focused on supplementing its movie library with a wide array of prestige original series.

But in recent years, the Og streamer abandoned that strategy in favor of an approach that's less ambitious and -- well, more depressing.

These days, there's a pervasive feeling that Netflix is more TBS than HBO.

The platform that delivered Orange Is the New Black, The Crown, BoJack Horseman, and Narcos is now churning out far more pedestrian fare -- basically, the sort of stuff you'd find on basic cable.

The list of series recently renewed by the famously cancel-happy streamer includes:

Outer Banks, Blood & Water, Sweet Magnolias, Hearbreak High, and Savage Beauty.

Image
While “Ozark” Season 4 continues in the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s newly released Top 10 rankings with 48.6 million hours viewed, David E. Kelley’s “The Lincoln Lawyer” is now trailing right behind it.

Debuting in the No. 2 position after its May 13 premiere, “The Lincoln Lawyer” was viewed for 45.1 million hours during the May 9-15 window. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
Here’s What’s New on Netflix in May 2022
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.

And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”

The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

New on Netflix: May 2022 Releases
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Caleb McLaughlin, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Gaten Matarazzo in Stranger Things (2016)
As the undisputed king of streaming (for now at least), Netflix has enjoyed the presence of some major blockbusters. Now, with its list of new releases for May 2022, Netflix is bringing back one of its biggest ever hits.

Stranger Things season 4 “volume one” is set to premiere on May 27. It’s been a long wait for new episodes of this ’80s-tinged sci-fi/horror series and based on the trailers, the wait will have been well worth it. In this go-around, the kids of Hawkins (now high schoolers) will have to contend with the Upside Down once again to go along with the horrors of the Creel House.

While Stranger Things is the biggest Netflix original this month, it’s far from the only one. Mike Myers’ latest series The Pentaverate premieres on May 5 (fittingly: 5/5). Meanwhile The Lincoln Lawyer is set to arrive on May 13 followed by Love, Death & Robots Volume...
