The film begins by interweaving some of the plot of K-On's last two OVAs - the passport issue and the song for Azusa - and unfolds the plot of the group's trip to London. All I can say is that if K-On has always been known for being LOL funny, the movie does it complete justice. The first scene, in which the girls try to fool Azusa with the so called "musicianship" issue, and shortly thereafter are terrified, as expected, by Sawa-Chan's sneaky appearance, is to cry with laughter! And it's just the beginning.
Yui is more dizzy and hilarious than ever; Ritsu, Mio and Mugi are adorable as always and Azusa is the youngest and wisest, which doesn't exactly help her considering her bandmates. The songs are great (especially some new ones like Ichiban Ippai), the trip is fun and hectic and the script is tight, with the perfect amount of humour and the Fuwa Fuwa element.
Too bad the movie marks the end of K-On, because a sequel could easily have been produced with a trip to the United States. Let's hope.

"K-On! The Movie" is not a high stakes movie. It is very much a slice of life movie. The movie is content with spending time with the characters as they try to decide where to go on vacation, how to say goodbye to friends and where to go to eat. Thankfully these characters are so likeable and endearing that there could be a segment where they just read the phonebook to each other and they would be entertaining. The misadventures they get into on their little adventures are just so gosh darn cute that you can't help but let out an audible, "awww." The story may be light on conflict and action, but it has no shortage of charm.
I haven't watched the main K-On! Series, so I was not really familiar with the characters and it took a while to get attached to them. There's not much of an overarching storyline in this film and it emphasises lots of cute moments like asking a turtle to decide their vacation destination. Most of the film is about snacks, tea, the girls trying to write a song for Azu-Nyan in secret and a London tourism advert. It was a lovely and heartwarming experience but I was left hoping for a bit more.
It's the most perfect movie in the world I love it so much and it just fully Introduces the viewer to how beautiful friendship is and how with great friends comes great power and happiness, I highly suggest watching this film it will motivate you to gain a connection with your friends as strong as the characters in the film's connection, it's amazing!
Bit surprised actually. It wasn't really about the trip to London. They don't go there until 40 minutes into the movie, and when they leave there's still over half an hour left. Instead the main focus is actually on the 4 graduating girls writing the song for Azusa that they sang in the graduation episode, and Azusa being worried because Yui's acting a bit odd.
That said, the part in London is the best part of the movie, and I was surprised that they got actual English people to do voices, which impressed me as I've seen plenty of anime with obviously Japanese people masquerading as native English speakers, which can be painful to my ears. (Looking at you, Beck)
If you liked the show, you'll love this movie. All your favorite characters are back, and just as likable as ever. The songs are just as impressive. It can be hilarious when it wants to, as well as make you cry at points.
