Great spinoff from the superbly talented Jared Keeso

The magic formula of rapid-fire banter, extreme vulgariry and just a touch of heart continues in this spinoff of Lettekenny. Being a "southerner" and never played a game of hockey, some of the jokes went way over my head, but was still, just a treasure to watch. The shot of those five, big hockey meatheads standing around in Shorsey's kitchen, eating ice cream cones, each with a protective bowl to catch any drips, I'm sure is a nod to Moms everywhere, but it also gives us an idea what these guys are going to be like. Its small details like this, not necessarily the big laughs that get me.

I hope to see more this show and Keeso, in the future.

Great Spinoff

This is a solid spinoff of Letterkenny. Shoresy's voice is toned down a bit from Letterkenny, but still sounds like Shore. The humor and quick banter are on point. If your not a fan, give yer b&%#$ a tug.

Keeso Can Do It All

American here, and only an occasional hockey watcher, but Letterkenny makes me laugh SO hard I've watched them all. Now one of Keeso's characters, Shoresy, gets his own series and it's more of the same.

Keeso is so talented - I checked out 19-2 because of him. That show was a little too soap operaish for me, but Keeso is a solid dramatic actor, too. I'm looking forward to Shoresy, and looking forward to seeing what Keeso comes up with in the future.

Canadian humor at it's best.

Only 6 episodes thus far and they damn well better come back with more.

The dry humor is refreshing and hilarious, and the one liners are gold.

The scenes where Shoresy is ref'ing the kids is the best and if you don't laugh you should check your pulse.

Trash talking magic.

Jared Keeso is the man. Shoresy is one of those shows my wife can't stand but one that I will watch over and over. Hockey, trash talking, fighting, and all in my hometown. I can't wait to see the upcoming episodes.

Keeso is a different kind of genius

Shoresey is a fresh take on a sport that has more than a few TV and big screen products. This show is clever, funny, hearwarning and brutally forward all at once. You need to leave some time to get fast enough to catch all the jokes. Rapid fire humor at paces hard to keep up with. I'm thinking a cold, crazy, violent and Canadian Ted Lasso. All the characters seem like somebody you know but really never met. Each character sports a uniqe persective that is only revealed through the rapid fire conversations that take place. The sould of this show is a layered approach to manly mundane subjects. The right stacking, layering and uniqe takes make this a shining example of a small evolution in comedy writing.

Not for everyone

If you don't like Letterkenny, this probably isn't for you. ABC can give you something more mainstream. I laughed out loud over and over. Shoresy even showed some redeeming features. My only worry is this is so good they may try a Gail spin-off!

Love Shoresy from Letterkenny? Dunno who the @#$! he is? Doesn't matter

Usually, spinoffs flop or at the most meet the expectations of their origin stories. This spinoff certainly meets the level of charm that Letterkenny has to offer, and so much more.

Do you love the verbal assaults Shoresy delivered to Jonsey, Reilly, and anyone else who rubbed him the wrong way in Letterkenny? Do you love the quick-witted banter that exited in Letterkenny, not just including that which involves our new protagonist? Do you want a fairy-tale story told with a fairy-tale ending but not in a traditional fairy-tale manner?

If your answer to any of that is a firm "yes," then this is the spinoff for YOU. If not, give your balls a tug, you loser.

EDIT: Just watched the season 3 premiere. This is one of those shows that can keep the original creative magic from start to finish. I was dying. The "your mom" Shoresy jokes are just absolutely brutal.

SHORESY - The show I didn't know I needed

If you're a hockey player, this show will be an instant favorite. If you like letterkenny you'll love it just the same. I loved the first 4-5 seasons of letterkenny but it got a little repetitive. The hockey players and the coach were always my favorite part no matter what. Not the same characters but same thing.

Shoresy always cracked me up, but I was a bit reluctant when I saw the new show (what could you do with a character that never shows his face and only chirps) this is immediately addressed in the first episode.

Bingeable and Memorable, Despite Being Lowbrow

I finished Season 1's six 20ish-minute episodes in two days, and yet I wanted more. I came to care for these characters and their futures, which is impressive since I came into this show blind as a non-hockey playing American. The show is good, but it's not great (yet).

Shoresy's thematic elements and character development is held back by some very lowbrow humor and dialogue that could've used a few more re-writes. I almost stopped watching during a prolonged fart-joke scene in episode 1, but I'm glad I pushed through. Additionally, more than once I felt as if the dialogue during specific scenes was filler to hit a specific episode length. That said, I became so engrossed with these characters, their development, and the small town of Sudbury that I'm writing my first review so that hopefully others can enjoy the show and that it gets picked up for a second season.

I think what Shoresey really needs is a bigger writers' budget, but I will praise the editing, camera work, and overall production value for a show on this sort of budget. Jared Keeso, who plays the main character, and produces the show, is great in his role as the loveable and loyal (yet flawed) Shoresy. Tasya Teles, who plays the hockey team's GM, shows occasional flashes of great acting ability, although her character feels underdeveloped hamstrung by a less than fleshed-out script.

In summary, Shoresey is a pretty compelling production and I'm happy that I watched it. It's a solid 7/10, which means that it's a fine show, but it won't stand the test of time. With some tweaking and TLC from the studio, Shoresey could very well elevate to cult-classic status, but in any event these first 6 episodes are very much worth your time. Give yourself completely to 2 episodes, and I promise you'll be wanting more.

Awful, unwatchable

Well, this is my third try at writing a review for this awful series. The previous two efforts did not make it in.

Basically this is an unwatchable series, as it just consists of a bunch of people screeching insults at each other at a rapid fire pace and high pitched tone.

Hurts your ears to listen to this.

I'm pretty sure the only reason this show has such a high rating is that somebody is censoring and removing the negative reviews.

This has to be one of the worst TV series ever made.

Hilarious

Such a funny and well written show. I'm glad Jared Keeso is doing this spinoff both for his acting as well as his writing. One of the funniest shows I've seen in a long, long while.

Not much more to say. I really like Letterkenny and I really like this. Good characters, really funny, quick insults. Keeso should get much more credit and many many more roles.

Shoresy a spin-off home run

Out of the gate, shoresy (names have capital letters) will grab you and leave you wanting more. Best on ice and convo chirping ever in a series. They got hockey culture and Canadiana bang on!

So much hate...for what?

Awesome backstory to Shorsey and gives insight to his preferences and....behavior..... Letterkenny on a different level. Keeso brings it home and gives more to the character we love to hate and worry about our mothers around.

Brilliant show that keeps getting better and better

(Review updated after Season 3).

Shoresy, notorious as one of the dirtiest players in all of (ice) hockey, plays for the Sudbury Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are last in the four-team Northern Ontario Senior Hockey league and the owner is thinking of folding the team. Shoresy is determined to not have that happen and assembles a formidable team.

For me the best part of Letterkenny was the hockey stuff. The Reilly and Jonesy sub-plots, often consisting of satire on jock culture, were always very funny and were the only consistently funny part of the show.

It's for this reason that I watched Shoresy, a Letterkenny spin-off concentrating on an occasional-yet-incredibly-memorable character in that show. Initially it showed some of Letterkenny's shortcomings: the repetitiveness, the wasted potential for great drama and sentimentality, the clumsy sub-plots. It was never dull though and the humour generally worked.

As it went on the show developed more of a heart and the comedy got sharper, making for a very entertaining and engaging experience. The dramatic plots got better as time went on, moving from merely a structure to hang jokes on to the essence of the show. We see the trials and tribulations of a sports team, the camaraderie, the rivalries, the internal struggles, the milestones, the career choices.

By the end of Season 3 it is absolutely brilliant and has seamlessly transformed itself from a decent comedy into an excellent drama. There's still a fair amount of humour but it's the drama that drives it now.

An acquired taste

After the first episode, I was planning on skipping the rest. But the second one was sitting there and I was kinda bored. I played hockey in my mis-spent youth, so I had that going for me.

They have a handful of gags that they repeat a lot. The first episode seems dedicated to getting you *completely* familiar with these, ad nauseum. However, as the series progressed, they actually developed a plot and used these repeated gags as spice, rather than as the entire main course. By the end of the series, most of the characters are less moronic and more quirky.

I don't love the series, but I'll watch more of it if it gets produced.

Pretty Lame

You can only do the same shtick so many times before it becomes tiresome. Compared to its parent series, Shoresy falls flat with boring banter, repetitive "jokes" and unlikeable characters.

Very funny, fast paced.

Very funny script, the inside story during a championship season of a second class traditional Canadian hockey club, with fast rhythm and constant comical lines from main 6 male and 3 female characters, narrating the daily struggles to keep the team afloat. Very crafted images that transpire the perfectionist minds behind them. International, inclusive, classy. Shoresy provides you with not enough chapters to laugh and enjoy. Highly recommended for all, contains some adult language, but can definitely be enjoyed with adult guidance.
