Scrat's Continental Crack-Up

I quite like the Ice Age films, they are colourful and entertaining with good characters, wit and voice acting. Scrat's Continental Crack-Up was really quite impressive, while I personally think the short could have been a tad longer, I was really taken with how much I was entertained in such a short running time.

The story is a very simple one, but you don't mind that at all when it goes at a great pace, while the animation is very good with great backgrounds, colours and designs of the characters and the content of the short is constantly very funny sometimes even hilarious for both kids and adults.

Scrat himself is a big part of the cartoon's success. He is so cute, funny and zany, and one of my favourite characters in the Ice Age films, and his character(persona, facial expressions and yelps) and misadventures here ceaselessly delight.

All in all, a very entertaining short and perfect to go with the Ice Age films. For Scrat fans, they will probably find they have a match made in heaven with Scrat's Continental Crack-Up. 8/10 Bethany Cox

This short animation is about Scrat and him ferociously guarding his nut, resulting in the world we know today.

It seems Scrat is widely loved, and people do not get tired of him. So there is a new short animation, and it is very funny. The plot is simple, as yo would expect from an animation that is only three minutes long. And yet, it has unlimited imagination that makes you smile.

So, Scrat's mindless action is responsible in shaping the world we know today. Not only in the geographical sense, but the heritage and cultural sense as well. Who knew a squirrel could achieve so much in so little time?

I remember when the first Ice Age film came out, this little character was used to sell the film and audiences watching the trailer featuring him trying to get his acorn seemed to love it. Years later I have not watched the most recent Ice Age films but I still find myself (a grown man) tickled by the short films and adverts given over to Scrat. In this one continental drift sees him and his acorn fall into a deep fissure. How deep? Well, he ends up in the very core of the Earth on the large metallic sphere at the centre. For some this is a bad enough day but sadly for Scrat, this is only the start of his problems.

This short is less than 3 minutes including the credits but it is still very funny. Perhaps it is not quite as funny as some of his earlier shorts, but the physical comedy is essentially the same and the exaggerated nature of his plight is too. I chuckled a few times right through to the usual cruel punch line as yet again Scrat is denied the simple pleasures of his acorn. Well animated and with a lovable character, Continetal Crack-Up perhaps isn't the strongest little sequence we've had from this film series, but it is more than good enough to draw quick laughs from adults and children.

Scrat and his beloved hazelnut "help" our planet take the shape we know today. It's quite a funny reel. I gave it a 10, but others might be more "critical" as it may not be the funniest Scrat appearance.

These mini-clips are always enjoyable and seem to get their job done - making you wanna see the movie. (They worked on me, as I got to see them all *lol*) I think the first movie was just great (a fun, well-made animation with a good story). The sequel was also nice, but didn't quite rise up to the level of it's predecessor. The third one, I enjoyed the most. Perhaps because it introduced Scratte and it looked really cool with 3D glasses.

Hope the next Ice Age will be even funnier than the previous ones. (Go Scrat!)

Scrat and his inanimate sidekick go on their next mini adventure into the unknown. It's got it all- drama, comedy, action and a fair amount of Scrat's yelping to boot. Will he finally get his nut and retire happy?

There's just something about this lovable creature and his never ending quest that always makes me smile. Not his best one but definitely worth a watch for a couple of good moments. Can't go wrong with a 3 min short can you!

Even if it wasn't meant to be originally, he is easily the best thing in the Ice Age films and I hope when the next one comes out for the summer blockbusters of 2012 he gets as much screen time as the last one.
