I guess this movie was released in a bad time, among those so called "Trendy" Bollywood movies. Nobody cared about it. Netflix picked it up, give it a try !

First film of Ribhu Dasgupta, one of my favorite. He has spend a long time to write the script. It is very difficult to write such kind of script. People who love thriller movie should not miss this movie.

Soulless gangster movie...

The movie is so stylish and the cast is awesome. Other than that there is nothing else, big empty in all aspects. It is not even close to the director's previous venture. At least i was expecting the romantic portions are watchable, but that also ended as so dull and nothing new in it.

It is a haunting psychological drama from Austria that delves into the dark, unsettling world of a seemingly ordinary man hiding a horrific secret. The film follows Michael, who keeps a young boy imprisoned in his basement, portraying the horror with disturbing calmness and minimalism. Its cold, matter-of-fact tone makes the narrative even more chilling, relying on silence and routine to amplify discomfort. With restrained performances and stark cinematography, "Michael" is a bold and provocative film that leaves a lasting impact. Not for the faint-hearted, it confronts evil without sensationalism.

Michael is like an undercooked pot roast. The ingredients are all there, the aroma of an interesting story, powerful actors, unhurried frames.. But the final product leaves you only with a bad taste and a longing for what could've been. Unresolved, too pondering for a thriller and vapid performances from all but the thespian (owing primarily to underwritten characters).

It merely serves as a reminder for a few facts - Kolkata was once a red bastion, Kolkata is always mysterious and lively at the same time, Shah is a national treasure and good stories are rare but good handling of a script even more so.
